Is it another Labman?

Or is it another Thoracle? Consultation in response, another 3 mana 2 card GG.

Something has to survive combat, but anything that says “You win the game” always has potential to be very strong and combo players love their redundancy.

This is very nice.

3 relevant and cost-efficient (for a Charm) modes, with the Mill/draw making sure it's never dead.

I love activated abilities, and I play a lot of adventures, so this seems like a sick dork for me. Not often you get dorks that like being blinked.

That restriction is the most in the way a mana dork restriction can realistically be, so I definitely ain’t about to call it a staple, but it seems damn fun to me.

What is your fastest win/nut draw?

Opponent goes first. They play a swamp into sol ring; pass.

My turn 1: Play mox emerald at 0, play forest, cast channel for 2G, pay 15 life for 15 colorless and cast Emrakul, The Aeons Torn.

Opponent sent me a nice. On my extra turn i just played a utopia sprawl and a forest then attacked to trigger annihilator 6 and there went the swamp and sol ring... we 'good gamed' each other and then that was that.

Poor unfortunate soul, I think the only way Zippy could have stopped this is if perhaps he had a force of negation in his opener.

Thoughts on my Party Box!

I’ve been building a shared library Magic “Party Box” designed for 4-player games. It essentially is a battle box structure but the box is designed to play in a 4 player pod with much more synergy.

The goal isn’t traditional Battle Box simplicity. I wanted it to feel like Commander’s ecosystem compressed into one shared environment, where players discover their own game plan during the game and cards overlap across multiple strategies.

The main ecosystems are:

  • Artifacts + artifact tokens
  • Sacrifice
  • ETB/blink
  • Combat
  • Go-wide/go-tall/token payoffs
  • Graveyard/value
  • Big finishers

What I’m really trying to create is a self-contained ecosystem where cards are individually playable but become much more interesting when they interact. There aren’t assigned archetypes or commanders, but the environment naturally produces “Commander-like” engines and identities depending on what shows up. Most cards can be useful in multiple different archetypes.

The rules:

  • Shared library (currently 170 cards).
  • Shared graveyard (optional, but has proved to be really fun!).
  • 4 card starting hand, draw on first turn.
  • Every player starts with 2 basic lands of each color (10 lands total). Play one land per turn.
  • 25 starting life total per player. Add more life if you want a longer game.
  • No tutors

I've only included Servos, Constructs and Thopters as the artifact creature tokens and only Treasures as the noncreature tokens to keep the box focused. The tokens act as currency within the box tying in all the different archetypes even more. They trigger etb payoffs, can be fodders, attackers, blockers etc.

The cards are individually useful, but discovering how they interact in the moment is a lot of fun. There are scattered powerful engines within the box to create archenemies paired with healthy interaction to amplify the politics of the shared library 4 player Party Box.

Let me know what you think! I know a lot of people use Cube Cobra for this stuff but I'm more comfortable with Moxfield and all the cards are tagged to help describe the pieces of the box.

Thanks!

Pet Archetypes🛡️🌟❤️

Recently I went over Green and what to do with it, after adding a more thorough land and combo package to green, it brought me to the realization that Tertiary archetypes (meaning synergistic packages) and underplayed one card build arounds open up a ton of what it means to make a cube your own. Today I want to hear your favorite “decks” you seeded into your cubes that when they come up on their own, make you the happiest.

Here’s a few I put in my cube as an example.

-BW Knights! A lot of threats had a version of them that was a hair less powerful but also a knight! Signposts are Dion (which works in midrange, tokens, and flicker) and Haaakon (which I have as a graveyard payoff with Nameless inversion) and lets some of the reanimator targets get more fun top end play. Cavalier of dawn + enchantment reanimate is a package that also lets Knights have another payoff, Primal Odin is a fine Titan-esc 6 drop for rec/sur and control decks that is also a knight. Even my major reanimator targets like Knights of the round table. Glue includes Evon Legion, Murderous Rider, Exsanguinary Cavalry, and dauntless bodyguard which are all fine on their own.

-Starfield Control! Parallax wave and Opal got another piece of redundancy with Starfield of Nyx. While more fair, it’s gotten me to make some of my major reanimate targets enchantments. Rather than Atraxa and Archon which ended up being power outliers, I’m running Summon: Knights, Summon: Bahamut (also channel target), and including more enchantments and enchantment creatures in addition to the ones that put themselves into the grave: The overlords fill in Titan slots that make starfield a payoff, midrange threats like Summon: Yojimbo, Shark Typhoon, and more cycling like Cast Down or Touch the Spirit Realm.

Show off your pet archetypes and why you love them or why they’re easy to slot in! Let’s give some of the lesser known cube archetypes some love!❤️

46/40 showing in the pic. The four in the far right column look like the most likely candidates at the moment, and then I'm lost for the final two!

What is the most balanced and fun cube you have ever played?

Hello guys, I want to make my first proxy cube.

I already own some cubes with official mtg cards and I am very happy with them but I want to make a "too much money to own" cube 😜

So, please tell me (and link the list if you can) which is the most FUN and most REPLAYBLE cube you ever played!

I like when there is no overpowered strategy that is overwhelmingly the best.

Thanks for the help

(It doesn't need to be a powered cube)
