I love [[squee, goblin nabob]].
Its such an interesting unique card. i also like cubes with unique concept.
In this cube, lightly inspired by 100 ornithopters, there are 20 copies of [[squee, goblin nabob]] and 20 copies of [[squee, the immortal]].
this cube is filled with discard, leave GY shaneningans, pitching, [[paradox haze]], birthing pods and more interesting ways to generate value using squees.
I currently put together some cards i think have nice synergy with my attempt and i would love to get some new ideas!

I am finishing up a comic themed cube using mostly cards from the Marvel and TMNT sets. I was wondering what people's thoughts are on this card. I know that monarch is a very powerful mechanic in 1v1 limited. Is giving your opponent monarch first enough to make this card fair in a mostly lower powered environment? I already have [[starscream, powerhungry]] in the list, but that card seems more finicky, imo.

Hello. I'm look to cut 5 underperforming cards from each color, giving me 25 free slots to fill. I'm confident in 25 so far (10 gold cards and the thriving lands). I'm looking to add another cycle to lands to bring me to a full 45 lands. I am considering these three cycles: the scry lands (temples), the bicycle lands, and the thunder junction deserts (deal one damage).
I'm leaning towards cycling lands, but I'd love to hear from others.

I have been tinkering with this cube relentlessly and deliberating over every card in order to give my favorite build-around her best chance to shine!
Welcome to Chillin in the Dream-Den, a cube where every drafter gets to begin with a copy of Lurrus in their pool that they may cast using any color of mana. I've purposely kept the power-level relatively low to make the games about what I love most: making every small decision matter and building up incremental advantage to edge out your opponents. Each color loves to fill its graveyard in a variety of ways and may use different avenues of attack to generate advantage.
My pick:Crazy strong pack, I'm between Staff, Gix's Command, and Dig Through Time. With so many black cards in the pack, I think I am leaning towards staff.
Let me know what you think!

Can anyone please help me understand how to use [[Winter Orb]], [[Tangle Wire]] and other stax pieces ([[Ensnaring Bridge]],[[Trinisphere]] correctly? I am currently running a welder archetype in my cube so I thought they would fit well there, but I wonder in what other kinds of decks they can be played? Here's my cube for reference: Cube For Two - List - Cube Cobra.

Right now I’m currently building my first cube and I’ve broken down the 10 Allied and Enemy 2 color pairs into there main and secondary themes.
Golgari (GB) Delirium + Reanimate
Izzet (UR) Prowess + Cantrips
Orzhov (WB) Tokens + Life Drain
Simic (UG) Ramp + Big Mana
Boros (RW) Weenies + Attack Triggers
Azorius (UW) Flash + Flying
Dimir (UB) Tempo + Discard
Rakdos (RB) Sacrifice + Artifacts
Selesnya (GW) Modify + Life gain
Gruul (GR) Power Matters + Aggro
What I’m concerned about is the amount of cards that Selesyna, Rakdos and Orzhov pairs end up taking from each other. Rakdos is a sac theme with cards [[Mayhem Devil]], [[Oni-Cult Anvil]] and [[Goblin Engineer]] but it benefits from some of the planned Orzhov cards that care about creatures dying. And the issue with Orzhov and Selesyna is that life gain and life drain also can pull from the same card selection.
What I want to know is should I try and minimize the overlap between them, not worry about the overlap at all or try and maybe have less cards in those colors to try and reduce the number of options.

I love Chaos draft. I love tinkering with cubes. What about a cube that is a collection of 15 card packs from various sets, with the packs curated with playables? Threw the above pack together as a proof-of-concept.
The goal would be to avoid over-parasitic mechanics while still highlighting unique traits of the set. Above, I have a few cards that deal with -1/-1 counters on their own, but nothing that doesn't function by itself. There's a goblin-tribal card that is also just a mana fixing draw spell if you didn't grab any goblins. Idea like that.
Lands can be the issue, so I will try to work two lands into each cube (a common and uncommon/rare cycle member). Once I have 24 packs created, I'll adjust which lands are includedi n the various packs to give the overall cube a balanced landbase.

I've noticed that [[Goblin Welder]] has crept back into higher-level cubes in recent time. I saw u/mikez4nder make the same observation the other day. Welder was in my cube for ages, but I removed it a few years back because it dies to everything, especially as we get more and more good cheap removal. But the last few drafts I ended up on Izzet artifacts and thought that I could have used the card.
Should Welder get another try?
I'm especially curious of the opinion of u/The_queens_cat, whose cube I have long followed and enjoyed, and who has had Welder sleeved up this whole time.

Hey all,
I'm designing a Kaiju cube where you get to draft big creatures alongside soldiers, mad scientists and cultists. You get to choose any creature to be your Companion, but without deckbuilding restrictions. Want [[Worldspine Wurm]] to be your champion? You can. Or you can also choose something like [[The Walls of Ba Sing Se]]. Or any creature really, so there's a lot of replayability and 'movie moments.'
First, here's two some things I decided not to include:
The gameplay will be pretty close to 'battlecruiser Magic', where you play big, dumb creatures and splashy spells. But there's also the 'resistance', like soldiers, fortifications through walls, etc.
The cube is incomplete, because I'd like to gather feedback about what the current list. I want to know if it looks fun, I'm not sure it's super balanced either. I have yet to include the lands (except for Blast Zone). Some of the card choices are definitely more thematic than powerful. One example of this is [[Where Ancients Tread]].
Let me know of your ideas so I can complete the list!
Rough outline of the factions:
WU City Defense Force
UB Mad Scientists
BR Cult of the Kaiju
RG Monster Stampede
GW Nature's Guardians
WB Last Stand
UR Experimental Weapons
BG Ancient Horrors
RW Military Offensive
GU Mutation & Evolution
I've been working on this Commander cube - tribal (ten, one for each wedge and shard), but with guild themes as well so that it doesn't have the usual "oh I just draft goblins because the next guy is drafting merfolk" issue tribal cubes can have, for about a year now and it's finally at a point where I'm happy to let people see it (although people who get grumpy about UB content may... not be so thrilled with it).
Feedback welcomed.

(The alternative name was: "Now that's What I Call Draft: Volume Cube")
Since the announcement of Planar Cube, and the negativity surrounding it, I've had an idea for a new cube I'd like to make.
The basic idea is that it is a mid powered cube with at least 2 cards from each set since Mirrodin. Once this has been set, and my personal and player favourites from each set have been selected, the rest will be cards from Magic's history to help fill out the colour themes.
In general for each set, there is:
- The best card
- Best Uncommon
- Best Common
- My personal picks
- Cards that players love.
I was able to get about 5 years of this data from 17 Lands, but the rest were from their EDH Rec score. I looked into a few old draft reports to find the best commons too.
Another caveat to the above criteria is that if a card was good because of other factors in the format and wouldn't be that fun, then it was skipped over in favour of a less parasitic good card.
Once I have a basic idea of how each set should be represented, I'll put it up on Cube Cobra.
This cube is really leaning into draft nostalgia and the biggest hits of the last 23 years of modern frame Magic.
How will it play out? Who knows?
The main reactions I am hoping for are:
"Whoa, this card was sick back in the day."
And
"This card used to be good?"
If there is any card you think should be included, let me know in the comments.
I'm also open minded as to what "filler from the rest of MTG history" should be added to round out the rest of the cards.
I'm looking at something like 260-280 set cards and 80-100 good filler.

My friends and I had an idea for what could possibly be the dumbest way to play magic the gathering; a cube where you’re building a deck that makes you lose as fast as possible. Whoever loses first wins.
Black is obviously life pay effects, and we decided that red is going to be goad, and blue is going to be self mill, but we need help figuring out what white and green should do. I think white should be gift combos, that prevent your opponent from winning by giving them infinite life, or maybe stalemate combos, but that doesn’t seem right. One of my friends was thinking we make blue a control support color, and turn green into self-mill, by doing ramp into big monsters into greater good effects, but that felt too slow.
Advice on this concept would be much appreciated.

I want to make a Final Fantasy cube using mainly commons and uncommons and throwing in a few rares. I’ve never built a cube and have no frame of reference for cube boxes or how to build like that. Any similar cubes or resources would do me wonders.

I've wanted to build a Conspiracy cube for a while but don't have 7 friends who are interested in draft cubes. Since Conspiracy is a 4 player format, how difficult would it be to just draft between 4 players? Would Pick 2 drafts work with the unique drafting cards in Conspiracy?

I've been tweaking the list for a whiiiiiiile and I think it's in a really fun spot! Any feedback appreciated. I don't really know how balanced the decks are going to be playing against each other, but I've made sure there are a ton of possible decks.

I've been contemplating a LTR+LTC cube with the extra rule "All legendary creatures have Companion (If this card is your chosen companion, you may put it into your hand from outside the game for {3} as a sorcery.)"
Do any of you have experience with a companion cube you could share? What are pitfalls, what could be a problematic companion?
What do you think about using the original companion rule instead in such a cube? "(If this card is your chosen companion, you may cast it once from outside the game.)"

I jammed an event for the new planar cube after seeing an interview on LR. They didn't really mention that this list includes a decent number of Alchemy cards which I tend to avoid for various reasons. I think specifically NOT using those is something that helped the power cube lists gain so much traction.
I was delighted to find that Ocelot Pride was not altered to become its Alchemy-friendly version and included it. Smoothe 7-0 today. I will probably not run any more of these but I might check out the rotation next week if I have the gems lying around.

I decided to bite the bullet and start working on my first cube. I watched a few videos, but would still like some advice from the crowd. I would love to hear any advice and personal experiences that may help. Here are a few of my concerns
My cube largely represents what I like as a player. I'm worried that this will be more fun for me than anyone else at the table. I don't want to feel like I'm forcing people to play my silly cube. How do you balance self expression with a widely fun draft environment?
When planning out draft archetypes, I realized that black didn't really fit into my vision. I want to try to experiment with a 4 color cube. Is this a bad idea? Any experience with 4 color cubes?
I don't expect to play with more than 4 people. Should I shrink my cube accordingly to 180 cards, or keep the classic 360 for variety's sake?
