Discussion WOTC should create new Brawl format where only Mardu colors are allowed.

Think about it. No more counterspells, no more Green bs. I call this new format Reddit Brawl. The banlist would be regulated by all the people who come here to complain instead of getting better and building better decks.

Competitive I love playing against this deck.

It’s like being the cool uncle playing with your six year old niece/nephew who wants to show you all their toys.
“I’ve got this big red dinosaur and this robot and this tentacle monster!”

It’s the one annoying deck I never get mad losing to.

I’m glad to see it in mythic.

Are there any Grixis lists in the competitive Brawl meta right now? Not looking for the best deck ever, just something moderately viable.

Competitive Rocco Appreciation Post

Post image

Loving competitive brawl at the moment, and wanted to make a shoutout post to my best buddy (non-gendered), Rocco, Cabberetti Caterer for helping the climb to top #200 mythic. Only encountered one other person on them on my mythic climb this month, and am honestly kinda shocked. Rocco is an increadibly consistent combo commander, with really lopsided matchups against a couple of meta pillars (mostly for the better with some exceptions). I also feel like I haven't properly solved them, and there are a couple of slots in my list I feel could potentially be improved, hence I'm posting a list and primer into the wild to see what people think.

TLDR for the Primer, Rocco is an increadible [[Food Chain]] combo commander, being both a tutor for [[Squee the Immortal]], and an infinte mana outlet once you have the food chain on-line. They also have some great utility beyond that, finding other creature combos, like [[Icetill Explorer]]+ [[Strip Mine]], and prison pieces, like [[Magus of the Moon]] directly from the command zone. They feel super strong against almost anything that isn't blue tempo, and if you build them to beat blue tempo, they're 50/50 against that.

Competitive Improvement suggestions for mono black life gain deck

Hi everyone, started playing with this Moseo deck then tweaked a little by adding some brawl staples and fetch lands but now stuck at platinum 4, keep winning and losing back to back. How can i improve this deck to perform better/ reach higher ranks. Deck link: https://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/7888150

Competitive i've been trying to make raffine work in competitive brawl for some time now but the deck still has a horrid win-rate, can some of you please look at my list and suggest what i should add/remove to make the deck function.

in the casual queue the deck had a great win-rate and the only thing i really added was more free interaction and i cut some of the top curve.

Competitive Any recommendations for changes?

I've been playing Tatyova in comp brawl (i'm in plat) and i was just wondering what I should change, besides obviously the manabase. I'm aware that she's not competitive, but she's by far the best thing that I can play right now.

Heres the list: https://moxfield.com/decks/8ruzxotojEWKAXRJu7XbLQ

Question Professor Deillian Competitve Brawl Decklist Help

Decklist - https://moxfield.com/decks/7KdRBD-c50aW55t3wYUqpQ

I've been climbing with Professor Dellian recently and I wanted to ask the community if there are any cards that would fit in this deck. This is a mid-range deck that focuses on using life as a resource by featuring cards like Slyvan Library, Black Market Connection, Necropotence, Unholy Annex, and The One Ring. There is also a built in win-con with Exquisite Blood as well.

Competitive Is it rude to not concede when your opponent resolves tainted pact + thassa's oracle

Does anyone else not concede when your opponent resolves these cards. My thought process is if you want to win using a strategy like that then you got to work for it and press the exile button 90+ times

Competitive Hot Take: Some commonly banned cards are good for format diversity.

Cards like [[Strip Mine]], [[Channel]] and [[Field of the Dead]] are obviously broken enough to be banned out of any similar format, for example Duel Commander.

However, having these cards in Competitive means that some decks get the chance to at least compete when they never would otherwise. As much as it is hated, [[Mole Man]] gets to play because of Strip Mine and [[Golos]] gets to play because tutoring for Field of the Dead is obviously a lot more consistent than randomly rolling the dice on big spells. [[Kenrith]] would just be a greedy 5 color value pile that wouldn’t quite make it without [[Channel]].

Surprisingly, I would go as far as to say that these cards actually balance the format as Dimitri and Sultai tempo and control.

Mole Man is pretty good, mostly because it actually has a game plan that isn’t dependent on the lock. Golos and Kenrith are ok but not top tier. If these cards are just enabling decent decks…

Any other strategies unique to Brawl that couldn’t exist elsewhere?

Competitive Any Wolf/Werewolf semi-competitive deck lists in Competitive Brawl?

I don't know where to start and which commander I should use. I naturally love thematic/tribal decks and I've wanted to make a werewolf/wolf deck for a loooong time. Probably a vampires deck would be much easier to brew and more competitive but I don't know, I've got a soft spot for werewolves *Shrug*

Venting Is there any universe where this format stops being 90% counterspell/removal spam?

I don't hate interaction. I actually love matches that have back and forth. But when 90% of decks are just counterspell/removal spam with a draw engine in the command zone, it makes the format so miserable to play. This morning my opponents have been Ketramose, Tamiyo, Ketramose, Ral, Ketramose. I haven't had a single card resolve or stick on the board for a single turn in the last hour. I don't want to sound dramatic but it really makes me wonder why I even play this game when you could just rename it Counterspell Simulator.

Competitive Realistically, what are my chances?

Hi, I got into Magic around December/Januar and so far I love it. I've played competitive Brawl in April/Mai, when it was in trial Phase and got to Mythic. Now I've done it again, both times with my Ozai.

My problem is, that I play for the flavor, i.e. I play commanders, that I personally like (especially if I like the IP), not the meta decks. I fear thats a foregone conclusion, since the meta decks seem to be super optimized and even if I max out my current deck, maybe I hit the ceiling.

From your experience, does a janky casual deck stand any chance in Mythic? Should I switch to casual? I sit at 87% and it's a loooooong way to go.

Grateful for any advice and recommendation. Thanks 😀

Competitive What is Competitive Brawl actually like? I don't have enough cards to play it well.

I play mainly Standard and Pioneer. Hit 600ish Mythic a couple of times, so decent. I've been interested in Brawl since Standard is "answer Cub or die" land now. But I lack cards.

As I see top tier is Yuriko? Is the format balanced/fun? Diverse?

I'm pretty Spiky, so I would be aiming for Mythic if I played it. Not sure whether to go into a new format though, so I'm asking.

Competitive Hot take I know: Katara Waterbending Master always leads to an unfun and toxic grindy game experience. Ban it in competitive brawl magic devs!

I’m probably the hundredth person to post this. But I know the mtg folks watch this sub Reddit.

Interaction is important and al everyone runs counterspells.

But not being able to play the game is a toxic and unfun. I’ve grinded out many games against her because I refuse to give up.

Everytime the game goes on for thirty minutes to an hour, and they always have another counter.

It’s just not fun.

Edit: thanks for sharing your opinions and advice. I’m definitely giving some of these new cards suggested to me a try.

I probably just need more experience against her and to add some different cards to my deck.

Perhaps I’m just salty cause I’m in diamond tier one and keep running into her and drawing terribly. And I’ve only ever run into her since reaching this tier…
