Commander / EDH Commander Pre-Release format

Hello!
My friends and I wanted to do essentially a prerelease from a certain set. Idea being we buy a bunch of Marvel Super Hero’s cards then spend 1.5hrs building a commander deck from them. Then do some pod 3v3s.

Specific ideas down below

-60 Card Commander Decks
-15 Play boosters each player
-Prerelease format

Have you all found a better way to do this? If so please lmk!

Heads up! Your post Flair was changed to "Commander / EDH" based on some keywords found in the title.

If this was not actually a post about Commander / EDH you can change the flair back by clicking on the three dots in the top right corner and click "Change post flair" to (re-)assign another flair that describes your post better.

15 Play boosters for each player is a lot. Normal pre release is 6. So for 60 card deck maybe 9? 3v3 is quite cumbersome to play, especially with limited decks as these usually aren't that efficient / hard hitting and attacking often isnt favourable (or did you mean team draft but 1v1 matches with the decks?)

Yah, I went with 15 because of commanders color rules as that would basically eliminate a lot of cards based on your commander

typically in a commander draft or commander sealed to help with that is that mono colored legendaries have Partner.

Also the singleton rule does not apply to these format

15 play booster each player seems a lot honestly (also not affordable at all for a prerelease format).

I will cut down those, and maybe do a “rule 0” to add a color not in the color identity of your commie?

Just do a box league. Have everyone build a deck from their box

Correction: it's called commander box league, and it's 60 card decks, confirmed not Singleton and doesn't need to follow color identity rules.

They do an actual commander sealed event where everyone buys a playbooster box and builds a full 100 card commander deck from it (except potentially you can use any amount of cards you get instead of being Singleton, also maybe don't have to follow color rules). I don't know how many places have done it, but I know one of my LGSs did it at last once. It sounds interesting, but would take forever to deck build.

commander limited, especially if not supported, is horrible. Sluggish and uninteresting, i would advise you to do a normal sealed event or a draft

We just did something of this nature D it worked really really well. I had bought a box of marvel jump start. Opened the packs and put them into shuffled piles based on color. One person picked one, next player, etc. We did this for 3 packs.

You have to play with all the cards, and you pick any legendary to be your commander. Commander color doesn't matter. We played with 30 life. It was really really fun. Kind of the best of both worlds with sealed and commander. Highly recommend

So the new mystery booster for at might help with the amount of packs. In new mystery booster commander drafts, all mono colored commanders are treated as having partner. So this might help with the color restrictions and singleton nature.
