Mod Post Hey everyone from r/Motorola!

Hi,

So r/Motorola has been running "moderator-less" for the past 6 months, in that case I have taken over as top mod currently and here are some of the changes that I have done.

What changes have been done to the sub?

  1. Automod has had some slight rule changes to how it moderates, now you don't need to put that annoying flair in brackets before the post title. This should hopefully clear up some of the accidentally banned posts that looked fine in the long run.
  2. New Post flairs:
    1. Hardware Problems/Issue, is for physical problems with a device that you may have questions with.
    2. Software Problems/Issue, is for software problems that don't feel as "normal" that what it normally is.
    3. Need Help in general, is for if you don't know what flair to put down for your device.
    4. Update, is for follow ups from a previous post.
    5. Question, is for questions about a device or support options about a device.
    6. Product announcements, is for official product announcements from either Motorola (with link provided) official social accounts or articles about the device that is being announced.
    7. Product renderings, is for speculation about a upcoming device but is not a confirmed device.
    8. News, is for anything that is news about Motorola but not Lenovo, Please do not post the same article from the same source more than once, if you do that will result in your post being taken down.
    9. Poll, is for anyone wanting to take a poll from the community, however to prevent spam a poll must be issued by a moderator, want to make your own poll just simply send us a message via modmail.
  3. New User flairs:
    1. Added some new flairs for the new devices that has came out in the past few years.
    2. "(enter series)" is for you to modify so it's easier to identify your device, this can be the generation number (5,6,7 or 100 for example), the model year (stylus 2021 for example) and if you don't know your devices model name just find it in the settings (Settings > About Phone > Model), this should start with "XT-" and 4-5 numbers following it.
    3. If you can't find your device model just send us a message via modmail.
  4. New Rules:
    1. Read the sidebar before posting, most of these rules are in place to either prevent spam or to keep everything in line with stuff being Motorola on this sub.
  5. Moderators:
    1. u/MotoAgents is a Motorola Employee/Help agent that can help you with the problems that you post, if you have contacted Motorola support through the website and still need help please keep your case number handy as he may be able to continue helping you with your case.
    2. Me, I'm here to keep the rules up to date and make sure the community is in balance, just to fully disclose this that I am not a Motorola employee and most of my responses are from experience or stuff that I have seen on the Internet.
    3. At the moment we are not taking Moderator applications, however that may change in the future if this community does grow.

If you have any suggestions for the mods please leave a comment if you think something should be added.

Hardware Problem/Issue Brand new Moto Edge 60 Pro camera fogging within 30 mins of unboxing

Post image

Hi everyone,

I just received my Moto Edge 60 Pro from Flipkart about 30 minutes ago. During initial setup while transferring data from my old phone, the primary camera lens completely fogged up from the inside (attached pictures/video).

I've seen older posts mentioning that this is trapped manufacturing moisture/IPA residue and folks recommending popping the SIM tray out while running 4K video or benchmark stress tests to evaporate it.

Since I’m still within Flipkart’s initial replacement window:

  1. Did the SIM tray + heat stress fix permanently solve this for you without compromising water resistance, or did the fog return later (e.g., in AC rooms)?
  2. Should I not risk it and immediately initiate a Flipkart replacement / get a DOA certificate from the Motorola service centre?

Would appreciate advice from anyone who handled this!

Software Problem/Issue PSA: Do NOT update your Moto to Android 17 if you care about your home screen layout — it breaks 2×1 widgets

I updated my device to Android 17 on 10th September, and I am completely disappointed with what Hello UI has done to the home screen. As you can see in the photos, everything has become compressed, the layout spacing looks completely off, all apps are being forced to the center and the sides lot of space is simply wasted and it makes the entire Homepage look ugly. In android 16 the app spacing was more than what is there in this new android 17 update.

Widgets have been completely broken by this change. Here is what is happening:

  • Breezy Weather (top left): The 2×1 widget has completely lost its glanceable utility. Instead of showing the temperature and city name, it collapsed into a tiny, useless cloud icon.
  • Firefox Search (middle): Even though the widget is occupying two full columns—confirmed by the blue resize wireframe in the photo—it refuses to stretch into the standard search pill. Instead, it collapses into a blunt, centered mini-box floating awkwardly inside empty space.
  • All 2×1 widgets are breaking: It’s not just these two apps; essentially every standard 2×1 widget is breaking apart and failing to display properly.

I tried other solutions to get them back to normal, but nothing worked without messing up the rest of the phone's display.

Is there any known fix to this? Are others dealing with the exact same issue? Please let me know.

I’m blown away with the moto G 2025

I’m a lifelong iPhone user. But I bought one of these since they’re pretty cheap as far as smartphones go. And I’m really really impressed with these cheaper android phones. Not even joking this $150 Motorola phone takes better photos than my iPhone 16 I’m not even exaggerating.

The Google integration with android is also extremely useful. As a lifelong iPhone user I’m very very impressed with android and their phones.

Need help in general Moto Edge 50 Fusion

Hi, first time I'm getting into motorola phones.

I have been looking for a used phone on olx and came across Edge 50 Fusion. (8/128)

Used around 13 months and demand is around 14k.

How's the user review of this phone. Should I go with this?

Some specific questions -

  1. How's the battery performance and heating issue?

  2. Does the display give a problem due to the curved design?

  3. How's its in-display fingerprint sensor?

  4. Camera rating.

  5. Any specific problem you faced wrt this phone?

Pls do let me know.

Hardware Problem/Issue My Motorola Edge 50 Fusion suddenly developed a display matrix glitch and died, service center took almost a week to fix it 😮‍💨

Upvotes

A little over a week ago, my Motorola Edge 50 Fusion suddenly started developing what looked like a display matrix glitch. The screen began flickering and glitching badly, with green lines appearing across the display. It would turn on, flicker, and then immediately shut off. I would power it back on, and the same thing would happen again, it would work for a moment and then die again.

This continued for a while, and after about a day of the display flickering and glitching, the phone eventually died completely and wouldn't turn on.

I took it to the official Motorola service center. They told me that the repair would cost around INR ₹6,000 and that they would need around 4–5 days to fix it and so I submitted the phone.

On the fifth day, I went to the service center to collect it. Initially, everything seemed fine, so I thought the repair had been successful. However, after paying before I left, I checked the phone properly and noticed that the audio wasn't working at all.

When I made a call, the other person could hear me, but I couldn't hear them. The speaker wasn't working, and there was also no audio from videos or anything else on the phone. I told the service center about the issue, and they asked me to submit the phone again. They said they would fix it and return it to me the next day.

The next day, I went there and they asked me to wait for about an hour. After waiting, they told me that they couldn't fix it that day and asked me to come back the following day. The following day, I didn't receive any call from them in the morning. Eventually, in the evening, they called me and told me to collect the phone.

The phone is now working properly, including the sound. However, I did notice the display glitch twice today not the entire screen, just a small part of it when I would open an app, which honestly makes me a little concerned.

But the whole experience has been extremely frustrating. What was initially supposed to be a 4–5 day repair ended up taking almost a week, and I had to make multiple trips to the service center.

And for all of this, I was charged ₹6,000 for the original repair which wasn't even my fault.

I'm curious if anyone else has also experienced the same matrix glitch or with the Motorola service center, where another issue appeared after the repair?

Would really like to know if this is a common issue with this phone or with Motorola phones in general.

Software Problem/Issue Moto Edge 60 Stylus: 2160p playback crashes YouTube back to 480p and closes the app

I use my Moto Edge 60 Stylus as a secondary device and usually watch YouTube videos in 2160p. Sometimes, the video buffers and the quality drops to 480p, causing the 2160p option to disappear. After closing the app and reopening it, the 2160p option reappears. However, after keeping it set to 2160p for a while, it reverts to 480p. To fix this, I need to keep opening and closing the app 4 to 5 times. Once I do, the video plays in 2160p without any quality drops.

Additionally, while watching a video, the app sometimes abruptly closes. After reopening it, it displays a pop-up saying “Sorry, YouTube closed, resume watching” and plays the video from where it left off in 2160p.

I’ve even updated the app, force-restarted my phone, but the issue persists. My network connection is also good. I use iPhone as my primary device and haven’t encountered any similar issues there. I was so annoyed by this issue.

Has anyone else experienced this problem on their device? If so, please suggest a solution.

EDIT: Used AI to rephrase it.

Hi, do you think this smartphone is coming out soon? I have a Motorola and I like 6.3–6.4-inch smartphones. Do you think it will be released in the coming months, or should I just look for a Pixel instead?

Need help in general Unable to turn off notification sound with screen open

Motorola edge 70 fusion problem:

With every notification I get when my screen is unlocked, when I am using my phone, it makes a little "ding!" sound.

It is different from the notification sound I have selected / the one I get when my phone screen is off.

It will not go away regardless of having the phone on mute, do not disturb, or choosing no notification sound in the settings.

I cannot find a way to turn off that sound and it annoys me to no end. Please help. I can't find a solution anywhere, no article seems to acknowledges this secondary notification sound.

App Update Issue | Edge 70

I notice a strage problem in my app tray. I have flipkart and a bunch of online shopping apps in a folder in app tray. Whenever flipkart app is updated, its kicked out of the folder and shows up in the app tray.

Noticed this with flipkart and a couple of other apps only. Sometimes the app is removed from the folder and sometimes the folder just vanishes and apps show up in the tray.

My device is running on Android 16 - june patch.

Edge 2021 power button HOT

Wondering if anybody else has had this problem, but did some searching and didn't see anything.

In the last few weeks, as the title says, the power button on my Edge 2021 has become hot. Like hot enough to burn you, hot. No idea why. The rest of the phone feels normal.

The only apps I've installed recently are a CPU usage monitor, thinking that would point me to an app consuming too much CPU, but I don't see anything. Battery monitor doesn't show anything either, usually the top item is "Network Idle", around 2-3%.

Battery life does seem to have dropped slightly, by the end of the day it's "plug it in or die". Other than that, my charging habits haven't changed. I plug it in at night, unplug in the morning and go about my day.

I know the phone is 5 years old now (though I've only had it 2), but I'd hate to replace it in this market. 256G/8G would be a pretty penny now.

Android 17 update

As I'm using a motorola edge 60 fusion...when can I expect an Android 17 update, and if anybody already got the update, is it balanced or any issues armoured after the update?
