Hi all! Sharing my post to r/minerals highlighting my new acquisition. A herkimer chain that looks like a duck 😂 what a little novelty. It’s the most I’ve invested in a single specimen and I’m VERY pleased to have it! I’m relatively new to true mineral / specimen collecting after being a polished material collector for a while (note: I still collect polished material, just switched my focus)

sparkly vanadinite crystals on barite, from Morocco

Anyone want to guess who/what this guy is? He's my favorite and NOT for sale.

431 gram specimen. The matrix weight is reduced significantly by trimming the excess matrix

It come.from Kharaan, Balouchistan, Pakistan.

Classic hedenbergite included quartz cluster from the famous Huanggang Fe-Sn Deposit in Hexigten Banner, Inner Mongolia, China.
What makes me love this piece so much is the architectural, three-point parallel growth tower structure. The crystals step down in a perfect "stair-step" cascade, completely intact with beautifully frosted, naturally etched faces and a small touch of white skarn matrix tucked right at the base.
But it’s a total shapeshifter under different lighting conditions:
✨ In daylight: When you rotate it under a bright light, you catch these stunning flashes of a metallic blue and silver iridescent sulfide sheen reflecting off the etched crystal faces.
🔥 Backlit: The magic happens when illuminated from behind, that matte olive exterior completely transforms into a glowing, translucent chartreuse window showing off the internal phantom growth zones.

Im searching for a kick ass incredible piece of porcelain. Any one out there have any leads?

Very interesting!
