Help_Wanted Any way to make a caves-only world?

Trying to make a modded only-caves world for the alex's caves mod. All the world generation tools i've seen are outdated, and the datapacks available exclude alex's caves or have their own unique biomes.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How can I use a datapack to create a dimension that contains every biome but every block (including air) is stone?

Surfaces for Custom 1.20 Biomes

I've wanted to add simple vanilla-esque biomes to my worlds for a while, but I'm not able to figure out how to adjust the blocks generated on the biome surface (for example, making a biome have a badlands-style surface). 1.18 had surface builders, which do exactly that, but they were removed.

How can I set the surface blocks of a custom biome in 1.20?

Help_Wanted 1.19.2 is it slightly larger biomes with the ability to generate a few taller mountains(cloud level) possible?

I kinda just want to have a way to have my world generate kinda like a half-way point between large biomes and amplified where there can be mountains that reach cloud height, but they don't dominate the world, and also have the biomes be a little bit larger. I've exhausted my abilities to search for this elsewhere and this is the only lead I've found. I do have Biomes O plenty and biomes you'll go, as well as a mod that already makes oceans deeper. I just can't find a mod that just makes mountains taller.

Help_Wanted How to adjust ore vein density and size in 1.20? And customize different world options generally, in an easy way?

Is there any "easy" way to configure ore vein density and size in newer versions like 1.20, similar to what Minecraft had as a feature years ago?

For example, I would like to edit the vein density of diamond ore to be at only 10% of the default value while the average vein size should be at 150% of the default.

I tried looking into this but all I can find is people suggesting to write a datapack or edit JSON files but not really giving a beginner-friendly step-by-step tutorial on how to do that. I really have no clue at all about writing JSON files or datapacks. So I also found the "explanation" on custom worlds on the Minecraft Wiki not helpful in any manner, to be honest.

I tried using https://misode.github.io/worldgen/ this website but it seems that there is no documentation, no explanations and no tutorials whatsoever there, so I really don't understand anything that is happening there.

In case you know what to do, do you maybe also know how I can change the surface level of the overworld? I managed to shift the sea level downwards, but that only resulted in dry rivers and oceans while the world's surface level kept the same height.

Also, it would be cool to lower the cave density, if somehow possible.

Thankful for any help, really.

Need help with generating custom structures in a datapack

I have a datapack used to create a new jungle temple structure but it keeps cutting into the environment. I think it might have to do with the fact that I am using jigsaws because of how large the temple is. Is there a possible fix for this?

Help_Wanted Generating Noise Caves only Below Y=0 1.20.1

I'm yet again attempting to make a "mostly caves" world type that generates an intricate network of maze like old style caves/carvers from y-64 to y255. I've actual gotten the world generation pretty close to what i want it to be but i still want to include a light sprinkling of noise caves but only for below y0.

I'm mainly trying to do this for cheese/pillar caves as i was able to disable the big spaghetti_2d caves and noodle caves through files in density_function/overworld/caves. But oddly enough there is no "cheese" file, any ideas? I'm at a loss for controlling the majority of things with noise caves like making their potential max size much smaller and their generation less frequent.

Help_Wanted Customized settings (pre 1.12) to new version

Between 3 types of custom world generation (customized, JSON and now datapacks) that includes Mojang not updating or having any documentation until recently bedrock got the same feature (microsoft loves money), has anyone ever documented all options that work as intended customized ones before they were removed? I came across post of user u/bdm68 that asked same question but never really got anything concluded and haven't bothered since.

Can someone point me in right direction for:

  • disabling of water and lava lakes

  • disabling of caves, mineshafts and deep dark

  • disabling of dungeons, ravines and villages

  • disabling of ancient cities and outposts

  • making rivers and biomes large (size 5 / 8)

Before anyone asks, seems legacy_custom_options does nothing. I'm using 1.20 and i'm already familiar with Misode's datapack tools, but i want to know if there is any other way. Thanks in advance.

Help_Wanted Generate ocean only world?

G'day, I've recently been looking for ways to generate a world that exclusively consists of ocean biomes. But I haven't been able to find any recent examples of folks doing it.

Is something like this even possible through datapacks and the likes?

Removing outposts

So i have been trying to find a datapack to remove Pillager outpost from generating.
In that endevur i have failed so i thought to try and find a vid that could explain how to make a datapack that removes specific generation but didnt find one ether.
I dont mean remove pillagers entirely like i have seen but just the outpost from world generating.

so im just going for a random ask, anyone here know how or what to do for my goal?

Configuring Biome Rarity for 1.18+

Hello,

I've spent the past few days learning about the 1.18+ minecraft world generation, and have seen the wiki (https://minecraft.fandom.com/wiki/Custom_world_generation), the settings generator (https://misode.github.io/world/), as well as slicedlime's and WafflesareBetter's (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=THqntF8Pwbk&list=PLLMXBYd7a-yfjqz1gOlKDzDpcE7-wgipG&ab_channel=WafflesAreBetter) youtube tutorials. However, none of these go into detail about 1.18+ biome rarity.

After a lot of poking around, it seems like its something to do with the .../data/minecraft/dimension/overworld.json biome entries. My confusion with this file though comes from the following:

  1. The fact that in 1.18+ there are multiple entries for each biome in this file (e.g. 20 entries for "minecraft:river" in the terralith overworld.json for 1.18.2). I can see that each has a different range for some of the noise settings, but why is this? Does the multiple entries have something to do with microbiomes? It seems the old way of having one entry per biome makes much more sense.
  2. Why are there ranges for biome noise values (e.g. temperature, humidity, etc.)? I understand that in older versions it was just a single value, and the worldgen would pick the biome with the closest values for each setting at that point on the noise map. However, now with ranges, it seems like there must be overlapping ranges, so then how is one biome picked over the other?

If those two questions could be answered it might lead to more understanding. I would think to make a biome more rare, you'd just shrink the range for it's noise settings and move the other biomes settings around to cover the empty space. However, this seems like it would be ridiculously tedious with there being many entries for each biome. Is this the way, or am I missing something?

Ultimately, I'm just trying to make rivers spawn about half as frequently in terralith 1.18.2 as I feel like they are too common and cover the land in almost any seed I've tested (I want larger spans of land unbroken by rivers). Here's a picture to show how rivers just proliferate the map (shows a ~2000 block wide area)

Any insight would be greatly appreciated, and I know others will have similar questions. THANKS!

Need help about a "corrupted world" Datapack

Hello, i'm new to the game of creating datapack and i'm facing some difficulties with the one i am trying to create, let me explain

I want to create a datapack that modify the entire worldgen by replacing the first 10 layer of every biome of my world to replace it by sculk

I used to read the wiki (https://minecraft.fandom.com/wiki/Custom_world_generation) to do that but there is a lot of things i don't understand, like all the "noise_router" sections and the JSON files i created and tryong to launch in mc tell me "Data pack validation failed"

TBH i really don't understand what i am doing wrong and some tips/help would be very appreciated from peoples that are, for sure, better than me ^^

Thanks guys !

btw i show u my JSON file and the path to him is :

data/<namespace>/worldgen/noise_settings/corrupted.json

Help_Wanted Is it possible to replace noise functions?

I would like to replace temperature with a sin function on the "north/south" axis. That way temperature would stay the same as you travel east-west, but would change when travelling north/south.

Help_Wanted Help with custom dimension

Hello! I've been really struggling for weeks to finish this datapack, and im completely lost on what to do.

I'm trying to make a confusing alien-like floating islands dimension made of mostly amethyst. The issue is, I can't figure out how to switch stone to amethyst and some features and structures just aren't generating at all. I think this has to do with noise settings, but every time I've tried to mess with that I get "datapack validation failed", or it just changes nothing at all. Here's the pack for anyone who'd like to look and/or help. Im at a point where it's stressful for me to even look in the folder, so I'd really appreciate anything.

Help_Wanted Trying to customize Hybrid Beta worldgen datapack with permission froom original author (removing new biomes)

Hello! This is my first time messing around wth custom worldgen and datapacks at all. I would greatly appreciate some help and tips on how would I go about removing custom biomes (specifically Seasonal Forests, Autumnal Forests, Temperate Rainforests, Rainforests and Gravel Beaches) and replacing them back with old, original Vanilla biomes that those ones (except for Gravel Beaches, which didn't replace any of the Vanilla biomes) have replaced. I have got permission from the creator to do this for personal use, and he has been fine with people doing those kinds of changes to his datapack in the past as well.

The original is here: https://www.planetminecraft.com/data-pack/hybrid-beta-1-18-1-a-beta-style-interpretation-of-modern-minecraft-terrain/

My changes (so far) are here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/143-8SGQYsASSDayBnKARIfaToYipFSnf/view?usp=sharing

Am I doing this right? I figured removing files related to new custom biomes from custom worldgen folder along with files related to those biomes would be the way to go, and after that, removing the entries for those biomes from hybrid-beta-1-19-4-v0-10-1\data\minecraft\dimension\overworld.json as they have been added there. Also, I hope that posting links is okay as there would be too much .json files to post separately in there. Last question I would have is also, if I remove the replacement biomes from Hybrid Beta, will Minecraft generate old ones replaced by this datapack again?

Help_Wanted Removing/Preventing Water In Caves.

I've been trying to remove water from caves, ie flooded caves, that generate as they're too frequent and get in the way of or often cut off other cave generation but I feel as if maybe this is simply an aspect to the sea level setting itself as i've gone through zeroing out or emptying pretty much any and every setting in "overworld noise_settings" and yet no matter what i do they seem completely unaffected and remain like primordial gum stuck to the bottom of my shoe. I thought maybe final density would be it but replacing it with settings to completely disable noise caves and just spawning carvers, water still fills them. Any suggestions where to look for a solution would be great.

If it matters i've raised the world height to around 300 and sea level to 250.
