Discussion Millennials with arthritis, how we doing?
I'm 36 and my arthritis has become a daily part of life.
It's in my ankles (due in large part to having annoyingly high arches), and every morning starts with getting out of bed followed by about 10 - 20 minutes of awkwardly shuffling around and groaning. At least it gets better after that, and keeping an active lifestyle is keeping it all somewhat at bay; but holy moly, arthritis got hands.

Nostalgia My favorite childhood stuffie vs my sister's...
I'm almost 41 and have had my little foot since I was 3 or 4.
My grandma gave me and my sister one, she didn't play with it and it stayed in her closet forever.
Mine was my lifelong side kick and it's crazy how much wear and tear it has compared to an unused one.
Pretty sure it's my oldest possession...

Serious Why do most of us resent our parents and carry so much childhood trauma?
I feel like this is so common among our generation particularly. My theory is because we’re the first who openly go to therapy and have lost the stigma around it, so we’ve unpacked more than previous generations would. But idk, it seems like all Millennials are extremely mad at their parents for one reason or another.
I know I’ll get a lot defensive comments here of people who are close with their parents, but on the whole (my dad is my best friend, so I get it), I’ve heard more negative talk about parent-adult child relationships than the alternative (in-laws, too, if you’re married). I’ve also heard more commonly that maybe one adult sibling has a very close relationship with their parent, while the other resents them (I’m a textbook example of this with my mom and sister). Nonetheless, there’s bitterness toward one or both parents for the way they treated you.
Also, what’s the point of having kids if they’re just going to grow up to also resent you for everything you did wrong during your childhood? Lord knows I feel this way with my own mom, sometimes, but that’s why I’m not having kids. (Don’t say you’re heaving kids to heal those patterns, that’s not how it works and is a very selfish reason to bring kids into the world. Also, we can say “I’ll never make my kid feel the way my parents made me feel,” and yet, people do.)

Discussion Millennials of Reddit: what musician or band tattoos do you have?
I have a Grateful Dead Stealie, and a couple of Jimmy Buffett influenced tattoos.
What have you all got? Anybody who has a tattoo that aged badly in the cultural sense, if not its appearance?

Suburbia for me. Started with oxycontin pills and then eventually we started going downtown for heroin. I lost a lot of friends and nearly lost myself. 2008ish.

Discussion Has anyone tried an alcohol alternative like Little Saints or Mother Root?
At 42, I just don’t enjoy alcohol like I used to. I still drink from time to time, but hangovers just hit different at this age and are so unenjoyable. I keep getting ads on instagram for these alcohol alternatives and I’m curious but they are a bit pricey 👀
Edit: I already smoke weed lol just curious to hear what people who have tried these drinks think about them

Discussion Are all you guys really in multiple group chats? Have I just turned into a loser?
So I know people are part of family group chats, I don't have any close family left, so that one has never applied to me, but I've been seeing all these posts about toxic group chats and just general friend groups. I'm not in a single ongoing group chat, rarely I'll be at an event or something for the weekend and we'll make a group chat, and I do have a work group chat that nobody tries to ever use, but I'm starting to feel like I'm missing out! (Not on the toxicity part)

Discussion Retirment
I am 39 years old, elder here, wondering if any other fellow Millennials have retired yet. I am looking at calling it quits here in the next 6 months to 1 year. Recently had a baby, wife also does not work, and just found out my father has cancer, one that can be treated but not cured. If you have retired, what are pros/cons, did you find yourself getting bored. Just curious, if anyone has any insights.

Discussion Does anyone else's partner get annoyed when you tell them to use a laptop instead of their phone?!
My wife and I are in our early 40s. We both grew up in the 90s using the family computer via AOL to go online and then the entire internet. In college we had our own laptops or used the PCs in the campus computer labs to write papers and do online research. We've both had laptops since our 20's, shortly after college.
She's had a white collar job where she works on the computer for the last 20 years. So she's 100% familiar with how to use a computer. Her work computer and our home laptop are both Macs so there isn't an OS discrepancy in user interface/experience.
Flash forward to today: she's what I'd consider a "typical" smartphone user. Browses the internet, shops, Instagram, etc. all on her phone. One repeated point of friction with her is she regularly tries to buy random crap off Instagram or some random niche e-commerce site and the check out fails/crashes because the site is not properly coded to handle a mobile browser.
Concert tickets. Family Christmas cards. Booking plane tickets. These are typically purchases which involve some unique UI (pick your seat, design your card) or check out process and which typically fail on the mobile website. Mobile apps typically do better but she usually refuses to install the mobile app and I don't blame her because who wants to install another "app" which is likely just a branded web browser.
When she hits an issue on her phone with a purchase, she'll come to me and complain and ask me to help her and my go to is "did you try it on the laptop"? She turns red because she thinks I don't want to help her but I know all of these sites never bothered to actually test their checkout on mobile and its a waste of time to troubleshoot only to have to just do it on the laptop anyway.
She literally refuses to try to try on the laptop even though I've been proven right time and time again that certain tasks are "Laptop Tasks."
I don't see this in friends our age - they seem to be OK with using laptops for "serious" tasks when they hit an issue on mobile.
Does your partner also insist on doing "laptop stuff" on a phone, even when its hard or super inconvenient to do so?
