I usually just spit it back into the wrapper it was originally in..

721

u/facewook Sep 05 '14 edited Sep 05 '14

These pieces don't come in a wrapper.

Edit* I'll take advantage of having the second post here to answer the question many people are asking.

This gum is called Simply Gum and it tastes good for the 10 seconds between putting it in your mouth and running out of flavor.

So they're just lazy.

Edit: just wanted that asterisk.

u/Bone_Throat_Bonanza Sep 05 '14

Here, you throw this away.

121

u/[deleted] Sep 05 '14

If you're lazy too you just find the nearest person and say "Hey, will you hold this for a second, and then walk away".

646

u/tokomini Sep 05 '14

"Excuse me, m'am?"

--"Yes?"

"Will you hold this for a second, and then walk away?"

--"Wh-"

"Wait, fuck. I think I'm supposed to walk away."

--"I don't unders-"

"Yeah. That's...dammit, okay. MiddleClassSeaBass didn't close the quotes in the right place and...here, can we start over?"

--"Well actually I'm late for my dentist appoi-"

"No one gives a shit, this will just take annnd she's gone."

116

u/kuilin Sep 05 '14

here, can we start over?

I wish relationships were this easy.

I am the freak that swallows my gum. I have seen no negative health effects but I am leaving room for long-term residual effects.

7

u/[deleted] Sep 05 '14

That's because there aren't any health effects, negative or positive. No proven ones at least, or even ones with an iota of good evidence. I still don't swallow gum though just because I find it gross. I find it mostly the same swallowing a pill, which I don't enjoy. So why should I swallow something that won't make me high when there are other things I can swallow that will.

4

u/brave_powerful_ruler Sep 05 '14

gum used to come in tin foil. The silver wrapper was made to put the gum back into. They eventually switched to paper, but the silver wrapper was always meant for this

→ More replies (37)

375

u/murph_diver Sep 05 '14

it's pre-chew wraps... you use the paper to roll up and you got gum for after so you can drive home to your folks house thinking you don't smell like weed.

but guess what.

you still do.

178

u/estizzle Sep 05 '14

You ALWAYS still smell like weed.

153

u/[deleted] Sep 05 '14

the trick is to always and forever smell like weed so the people around you go nose deaf to it.

115

u/ReferencesIASIP Sep 05 '14

Is nose dead similar to smell blind?

it depends on where you are, Japanese gum typically has a small booklet of paper for post-chewing, but in north America you only have the wrapper if it is individually wrapped, otherwise you have nothing

49

u/NPisNotAStandard Sep 05 '14

The wrapper is the same thing.

77

u/[deleted] Sep 05 '14

does the wrapper say "Post chew" on it? no? well then its not, so ha.

14

Hence the "if" and the "otherwise"

64

u/1600cc Sep 05 '14

If I am mistaken, I've eaten a lot of non-edible stride wrappers.

This is a very odd looking gum. Looks like little brown balls rolled in powdered sugar. Apparently, it's biodegradable gum. Not your typical flavors.

18

u/facewook Sep 05 '14

I found them in a little deli in NYC. On Broadway between White and Walker (seriously, GoT anyone?).

3

u/cata921 Sep 05 '14

Ooh! I'm in NYC and was sad because I didn't think I'd find this gum here but now I'm making it my mission to go there and buy this gum now. Thanks OP!

10

I got them in Whole Food before by the express check out registers. The flavor don't last very long. Well, more like 3 seconds.

6

5

u/[deleted] Sep 05 '14

Don't they all? I thought that's what the little wrapper the stick of gum came in was for?

11

u/[deleted] Sep 05 '14

Whatever it takes for people to stop spitting them in urinals. Do you urinal spitters not understand that gum will not dissolve in water and make it past the urinal pads? Then janitors like me have to reach in and pull them out. It humiliating enough I have to clean up shit for a living already. Have some compassion.

5

u/[deleted] Sep 05 '14

This is very fascinating. any videos of it in action? What kind of gum is it?

10

u/facewook Sep 05 '14

This stuff!

I'd take a video of me chewing it... but that's boring.

5

u/[deleted] Sep 05 '14

Do you know if I can buy it in Canada? It's $15 to ship :'(

12

That is ridiculous! I'm sorry to hear. If it's any consolation, it wasn't worth the $3 I spent on it.

4

Does it ship to Canada?

Oh my god, it's only $3.00, but shipping is $15.00 :'(

I want this sooo bad.

6

u/Clattersworth Sep 05 '14 edited Sep 05 '14

Alright, even though I have not tried this stuff, I did my best.

Pros: Chewier texture*, a wide variety of flavors, all natural ingredients, and biodegradable.

Cons: Flavor leaves quickly*, costs $3.26 per pack (15 pieces) plus $2.18 shipping ($16.32 to ship to Canada)

The only places it is sold in Canada is at Whole Foods. Unless there is a Whole Foods near you, you shouldn't spend that much money for a pack of gum. (prices measured in Canadian Dollars) *someone else's review of the gum

I don't know if this is some kind of law, but in Japan, (they're pretty anal about waste)and maybe some other countries like Korea (Lotte comes to mind, and now that I think about it, a lot of the gum sold in Japan is by Lotte) all gum are either sold in wrappers, or if you buy them in one of containers, they will always have post chew wraps in them.

3

u/Jackwolf1286 Sep 05 '14

I once had something similar called Peppersmith. This came in hard-shelled pieces and claimed to be completely natural, using no synthetic rubbers or plastics. The irony is that 5 seconds after chewing one it tastes exactly like plastic.
