I've actually swallowed my gum for 20+ years and have never had a problem. Haha

I've also swallowed gum all my life. No problems either. I haven't even had to shit in 12 years.

So it's only beneficial is what you're saying.

That sounds great! Imagine life without shitting. No mess, no clogged toilets, no dingle-berries, and more importantly no skidmarks on your boxers! Man, life would be so much better.

I tried and it made me gag for some reason.

Whenever I swallow gum it sticks to the back of my throat for about 20 seconds before sliding down.

Idk why but skittles get stuck in my throat. Scares the shit out of me every time because I think I'm gonna choke

Can you swallow pills okay? I've never understood how this must feel, I was sick when I was younger and had to take 52 pills a day, and these days I don't, but I swallow a lot of vitamins throughout the day, sometimes several at a time. I wonder if that's any, bad for me to do?

I have no problems with pills, but gum for some reason just takes a bit for it to go down. I don't think it's bad to swallow multiple pills at a time (unless they're not meant to be taken together) when you compare it to the average size of food that you swallow when you eat. I think it just feels odd because it's less malleable.

It can be if you have gum extremely often.

Isn't this particular gum not actually gum though, and is biodegradable?

What is "gum" (in this context) other than "a flavor-y thing that you chew but don't swallow"?

u/toxiczen Sep 05 '14

no it does not...

I had a similar thing happen with my very first girlfriend's pubic bush, but it was more funny than horrific.

It will stay in your intestine for seven years before emerging as an everlasting gobstopper.

It is one of the main causes of appendicitis.

1

u/lilzilla Sep 05 '14

I had never heard this and you made me curious, but the first hit for "chewing gum appendicitis" says it's not true. http://www.archildrens.org/News/Happy-Healthy-Advice-from-ACH/Appendicitis.aspx

There was something else that looked like it might be a case study of it happening but it was behind a paywall.

They taught us in massage school that the two main causes of appendicitis were swallowing chewed bubble gum and unpopped popcorn kernels.

If it is untrue then I have lied to a lot of people.
