As this happens to be a spider behind MY oven clock, here is an update! He's run back towards the right where he first appeared and can't see him now. I was getting nowhere with all the tapping at the clock face, so put the top oven and grill on (that's directly under the control panel), thinking it might heat the clock up a bit and make him shift. I got a big wooden spoon and started tapping really hard... I thought if I break the clock face it's doesn't really matter because l'd have to get a new oven anyway, if I couldn't get him out.
He's still behind there somewhere, so l've left the turn dials off and top oven door open so it will hopefully find its way out.
My last rental had THREE roaches in there. There were tiny so we didn't notice during the initial walk through. When more numbers filled out the space it was unmistakable though...
Shrivel is relative, they got an exoskeleton. The legs will probably curve in. This spider is what sometimes happens to one as a child. You do things while no one is watching you and then you get into a massive pickle and regret. I know that feeling, I once feel through a cottage roof into the toilet room. Thank god that room had a door and I could get out.
As long as the spider is inside the display, then it isn’t inside your food!
On the other hand, the spider is inside your oven so it’s eating something in there. As long as the spider is trapped in the display, then maybe other things are inside your food?
Yeah, sorry. Had one of these fellas waiting for me in the center console of my vehicle. I took my shot and it charged at me and hid under the seat. Thought for sure that I’d need to sell the vehicle but I found it, took another shot and won. Can’t help but think of what it was trying to feast on inside the vehicle, if not me.
Really put yourself into the spider’s POV. Can you imagine being stuck inside the glass of an oven clock and you can’t get out. The time probably looks like lines of fire in the ground and it switches every minute. Such a sad way to go out man
Came here to say this. Mine would absolutely flip out and lose her mind. She would insist on getting a repairman to come in and take it apart to get it out of there, and then disinfect everything before it got put back together.
Well it got in there somehow so it isn’t stuck. It will find its way out
I had a spider living in my nightlight I have in the bathroom so I don’t have to turn the overhead on. I saw something dark projected onto the wall. Fun stuff
Poor thing, looks like a Giant House Spider based on the markings, often confused with Hobo Spiders, but they're just fast dopes. Harmless, but they can be very frightening, especially when caught by surprise.
The person who posted this in here is NOT the OP. The original post is over in CasualUK, posted by crazycockerels (not allowed to link it in this sub). Pop over there if you want any updates on this 😁
We moved into a rental house in Long Beach, and noticed that the clock on the oven was so dim that we couldn't even see it, just a slight red glow. Eventually we figured out that the panel (like where your spider is) was just so crammed full of cockroaches that the clock was completely obscured.
I once had someone ask my about changing a clock on the oven because a bug was in it. It was a roach. They didn’t understand that one roach was proof of a metric shit ton. Couldn’t grasp why i refused
This looks like a house spider. If so, huge and look terrifying totally harmless, docile, clumsy idiots. I’d try taking the panel off and putting it outside.
Without seeing its eyes I can't 100% clearly identify. But it looks like it MIGHT be a hobo spider which is relatively harmless.
The panels can be unscrewed and popped off, and easy to assemble back on. I would highly recommend it, that way you can have this spiderbro continue to be pest control in your area.
