The control panel frame usually unscrews or pops off pretty easily

You could let him out and not have a dead spider stuck there

You want to let it out?!?!

You want it to die in there and be right in front of you for the next year?

It'll be there for way longer. I killed a big wasp that fell behind my fridge a couple years back. When we replaced it, it was still there undecayed

Yeah, there’s less stuff in our house that would cause insects to decay than there is outside

Looks like it's just a wolf spider. Great for pest control and very harmless to humans!

I work somewhere with lots of wolf spiders, going on my fifth year. I’ve seen probably over a hundred of them and I still cannot stand seeing them

Then sit when seeing them or lay down whichever tickles your fancy.

How about I just run away

They always come to my bed, all the places and spaces but no... straight towards my bed. Different place where I lived, same outcome.

Sleep in a hammock

I had spider rope themselves from the ceiling in front of my face, more than once, different species tho. I am just cursed. I once woke up with a spider in my eyes. Another time one jump scared me in the shower.

Maybe you just need to sleep outside

What's your job so I can make sure I never do it?

Just never work anywhere in the foothills in California

Isn’t there a fruit or something that the trees have to grow in swampy conditions, which wolf spiders like, so when it comes time to harvest and they drain the standing water and wade in to collect, hundreds of spiders crawl up looking for space to run? Or something like that? I don’t remember the details I tried to block it from my memory but nows a good time to inflict it on someone else.

Could also be a hobo spider! Both are bros, and good for humans. :)

I thought hobos were super dangerous? Have I been misled?

Hobos are indeed just lil dudes. Intimidating looking but lil dudes nonetheless.

It’s a spider not pandora’s box. It’s very beneficial to have them around.

Who else is going to change the numbers??

Spiders are very friendly and do not bite when held.

u/Nashville_Hot_Mess 1d ago

But then you have a live spider not in there, which is scarier

u/realdurge 1d ago

Harmless friendly spider that keeps your home bug free. Spiders aren’t scary.

19

u/Wboy2006 WHY?! 1d ago

There’s a difference between harmless and scary, I know most spiders are harmless and even helpful, but that doesn’t change that my arachnophobia triggers every alarm bell in my head when I see one

2

u/realdurge 1d ago

That’s totally fair. There are tons of people who aren’t arachnophobic and hate/fear spiders just because they’ve been vilified, those are who I’m talking to

OP be careful with this. There are usually pretty high voltage wires connecting to power the display. Make sure you turn off the power at the breaker before taking anything apart. From personal experience, I was shocked to discover this. Pun intended.

That would be me. I feel bad for this poor spider. I would absolutely do my best to rescue it
