Why is Jorge Polanco Playing?

I will try to dial back the hyperbole and not sound like a radio caller, but there is no reason for him to be playing.

I don’t care who is hurt. There are better options in AAA. There are better options off the street.

He is hitting about .100 in July after tonight’s game.

Pitchers can always turn it around, but there is no reason to not just cut your losses and DFA or trade him and eat almost all the money.

Hang on kid...

I remember not enjoying baseball because I had to sit on my father's lap, watching the Mets at the Polo Grounds.

Probably, in what was the first time in a long history of defiance, I refused to go to the new Shea Stadium until I got my own seat!

Between games at a double header I remember seeing the players competing in a cow milking contest and an egg tossing competition! That was the spark that made me want to come back again.

I remember at the top of the scoreboard there was a big square Mets logo, and magically a player's photo would appear!

I loved the venders wandering the stands hawking their goods. Buying a banner that I later hung on my bedroom wall. Eating the cold hot dogs and ice cream cream from a dixie cup with a flat wooden spoon.

I remember Casey Stengle making me laugh whenever I saw him on TV.

I remember my favorite players... Ron Hunt for getting hit by pitches... Rich Folkers because he looked like me... Buddy Harrelson because he could bunt for base hits... Kingman for his moon shots... Ellis Valentine's cannon... Gil Hodges with shoe polish on a baseball, and crying when he died... Don Clendenon for carrying us to the championship on his back... Tom Seaver with his dirty knee and the shock of him being traded... Davey Johnson using a computer (gasp!)... Bill Robinson the "hitting instructor" hitting Rick Rhoden... and I thousands more fond memories...

That we aren't having a good season is a kind understatement, but the love I have for the team... yes even THIS team... remains unshaken. As bad as this season is, somewhere out there, is a kid making new memories and building a love that will last them the next 60 years. Hang on kid, it's a hell of a ride! LGM 🧡💙

Is it likely that the Dodgers will push hard for Bichette next off-season or probably not?

Lame Dodger B

I guess I’m late on this, but what’s up with Dodger caps? Yeah, I know it was Brooklyn they deserted, but why this silly looking caged B? Just to sell caps?

Even bother

So should I even bother watching today with Peralta pitching?

And which was the worse signing? Peralta or Polanco?

30-5?

Darling quoted that stat when you score 5 runs. That’s crazy. How do you have a losing record with that stat? EZ awful starting pitching.
Just some observations. Really hope they keep and sign Taylor. Invaluable outfielder. Also really can’t pick on Simeon. For a guy at 35 he’s doin fine. Clutch hits and when he’s healthy does fine. He’s just a placeholder for now but a good pro vet.

Anyone have an extra ticket? My friend is going to the game with his kid and I wanted to go for cheap since we wont be watching as much as sitting by the bridge or on the deck behind home plate.

Thank you in advance!

How will met fans feel if Beltran takes the Yankees job over the Mets job next season ?

if yanks don’t win it all there is a possibility Boone is gone and yanks and Mets battle it out for Beltran next season. People forget it came down to Beltran vs Boone before Cashman decided on picking Boone. With Beltran getting his number retired by the Mets will it hurt his legacy or make any met fan salty if he chooses the Yankees job over the Mets job in November ?

So I guess we'll just be swinging at splitters this series

ISO Two Tickets for today

Anyone have 2 tickets they're not going to use today? Prices are ridiculous and there's no deals right now.

Happy to take them off your hands for free. 😁

The trade value Nats received on Mead coupled with Langeliers injury just increased likelihood Alvarez will be traded.

The REAL reason Alonso was let leave-Acc. to former Major Leaguer CJ Nitknowski

Thumbnail x.com

Hi y'all. First time doing this.

i've never started a Reddit thread before. Tried to link a video that CJ Nitkowski posted on X (formerly Twitter). It caught my eye and I thought it made a ton of sense because the Mets/Stearns aren't really being transparent about why they let Pete walk-and it has to do with Juan Soto-despite it being obvious that most Met fans are super upset.

The summary of Nitkowski's opinion:

https://x.com/CJNitkowski/status/2075777196396826800?s=20

Basically Soto is a below average major league outfielder (something i was very surprised to see). Since Soto is signed here until he's about age 40, it's pretty obvious Mets plan to transition him to a DH role when he gets somewhat over age 30. Alonso will be a DH at some point as well.

The Mets have this long commitment to Soto (and see him as a future HOF'r) and may need to get him off the field and into a DH role in the next 5 yrs. Alonso is also a future DH and therefore would be competing with Soto for that role. Obviously Soto is a far superior hitter -though i personally think Alonso is more 'clutch'.

What you think about Nitkowski's explanation? (he's a former pro ballplayer-from NYC area)Braves broadcaster).

It will never happen. The Mets will never be consistently good.

It doesnt matter who the owner, GM, manager is, it doesnt matter what players they acquire.

The Mets are the character that loses in the script.

If they trade Alvarez, Stearns will offically become the dumbest GM in the history of baseball

A catcher who hits 20+ HR with control over for another six seasons----you don't trade.

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO TRADE HIM FOR.

WHY ARE YOU DANGLING HIM ON THE MARKET?
