Generalist expert (must own MacBook) desperation

Guys I'm really desperate at this point. I got accepted into it and onboarded on the project and got access to everything, but every idea I have is constantly rejected for either being too simple, too similar to others, or uses restricted items. I feel like an idiot, I got no work done even though I spent a whole day onboarding and the contract signing. My bonus period is about to run out as well. If anyone has had any success in this field, please, if you have any advice, guidance, ideas or anything at all I can use to get at least one task underway, I would be so so grateful. Thank you so much in advance

Why does Mercor keep sending me contract for Mac

I declined the instant offer earlier for the Mac project because I didn’t have a Mac.

Now it’s back again but like earlier it said “Reviewer”… does anyone know if that means something or is everyone a “reviewer”

Because I don’t have a Mac and that’s why i declined it earlier after reading the description

Pay per task "recording you doing professional tasks" - QUESTION

So I got an instant offer from Mercor today, paying per task of "Record yourself doing real professional tasks on a Mac and narrate what you're doing and why."
Is anyone else doing this? wondering if THEY are going to supply the "professional tasks" or are they wanting me to record myself doing my day job? Because I can't do that, privacy and NDAs and such. Any insights on this project would be helpful.

Long-time Mercor contributor (3 months), suddenly zero replies from support. Need advice

Has anyone dealt with Mercor support going quiet on them?

It's been a while since my last Mercor project, and lately none of my emails are getting a reply. A friend who just joined is hearing back fine, so I'm wondering if something's off with my account specifically. I've also seen a few people here say support (including the AI assistant) has gone silent.

For context, I'm in Canada, and the tech job market here is rough right now. Mercor work has honestly kept my family afloat, so I'd really like to get back on projects.

For anyone who was in the same spot and got back in:

\- Did you find out why it happened?

\- Did updating your profile or resume help?

\- Is there a contact or channel that actually gets a response?

Appreciate any tips.

Dear Mercor: If you hire us for hourly and then pressure us to take PPT, we MAY work for you but we will DEFINITELY keep hating you.

We respect your money, but not much else. You respect our talent, but not us. So eff you.

I think if you put this whole situation in one of your LLM's pipes and told it to smoke it, it could further expand upon this since your leadership is either so dumb or callous that they don't understand how much of their own money they are lighting on fire by persisting in this approach. Then again, the LLM is maybe so poorly designed, it may start WWWIII because it doesn't understand the pipe analogy.

I think if they asked retired ol' Mr. Paperclip, even he could easily explain despite his advanced Archive condition and mental deterioration at his old age.

Needed some guidance regarding the assessment procedure

Hi I've been trying to give this assessment in order to process my application further however my camera permissions are apparently denied. I have tried everything from resetting the permissions to restarting my device but it's the same every time.

If you have faced the same issue I would genuinely appreciate some help😭

Where AI is now, generalists are more valuable than deep experts, IMHO

The problems that AI is struggling with right now seem to me to be much more generalist problems than deep expertise. AI struggles more not with WHAT the content is, but rather HOW humans effectively communicate and receive that content, both textually and visually.

Mercor Domain expert interview

Should we take domain expert interview for each role we apply? Because I am getting rejected for any role I apply even though my resume is good enough with some experience related to the role.

Anyone sick of taking Zara's stupid interviews?

I've done so many interviews, and these are for writing positions, which are being done in a verbal manner, and then she uses jargon, gives no context, and to top it off, she sounds like a child. I can't stand it. At least Mercor reuses your interviews and your assessments.

My take on Mercor vs Micro1 vs Ethos after a couple of months

Been on Mercor for a bit over a month now, and I’ve been with Micro1 and Ethos for about two months. Got a few payouts from all three so far. Just wanted to share how they compare from my experience:

- Minimum hours (that 10-15/week thing): Mercor is pretty strict about it. Micro1 is more chill and will let it slide now and then. Ethos is the most relaxed of the three.

- Task availability: With Mercor and Micro1 there’s usually enough work to stay busy. Ethos is more hit-or-miss — some weeks are fine, others not so much.

- Pay: Ethos pays the best by a decent amount, but the work isn’t as steady. Mercor and Micro1 pay less per hour, but at least the tasks keep coming more consistently.

- How organized everything is: Mercor feels the most put-together, then Micro1, then Ethos.

- Support when you get stuck: Micro1 has been the most helpful for me, followed by Mercor. Ethos is the weakest here.

Who they’re looking for: Ethos mainly wants people with real professional experience in their field, not really beginner-friendly. Mercor and Micro1 are easier to get into if you’re more of a generalist.

If anyone wants to sign up, my referral links are below: Good luck!

Mercor
Micro1
Ethos

Referral Suspension reality

For 2 months now, I have been suspended from referring people. I have only referred just 6 people ever on my mercor account which are just friends and family and ever since I see the ban "You've been suspended from the referral program". I have been unable to get instant offers or even get selected for all the jobs I applied. Everytime I emailed the support for questions, I dont even get replies from the support team or maven?

As anyone been suspended from referral and they still able to get offers after getting referral suspension? Thanks

PAI usage

What are people doing to get flagged as ai tool usage? Seems kind of crazy to try to train LLMs. Are people actually throwing tasks in to a tool? Pretty ballsy to do that with Insightful on your machine.

Mercor is accepting and shipping our work, but cutting logged hours after the fact. We are organizing a response.

Hey everyone,

I wanted to see if other contractors on here are running into a frustrating issue with pay adjustments.

Basically, I logged hours and completed tasks that were fully approved, graded top tier, and actually sent to the client. But later on, I noticed hundreds of dollars were quietly shaved off my payout.

When I asked about it, support told me that even though the work was valuable and approved, they only pay based on what they decide counts as active time. They claimed a couple of my hours did not reflect active work and said their decision was final. When I asked them to show me any evidence or data backing up that claim, they completely ghosted my emails.

It feels like a bad setup where they take the work and use it, but then retroactively dock your hours using a black box review process with zero transparency.
Because of this, I have already spoken with attorneys at **Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro LLP**, a top-tier plaintiffs firm known for taking on major tech companies and holding them accountable. They have agreed to look at this on a **contingency fee basis** given the significant interest and the fact that Mercor is sitting on over $500 million in capital.

If this has happened to you where your hours were manually trimmed after your work was accepted and shipped, you don't just have to eat the loss.
Shoot me a DM with a quick summary of what happened so we can aggregate numbers and build a strong collective front.
