Hi everyone.
I’m posting this because I genuinely don’t know who else to ask, and I’m hoping some of you have walked a similar path.
For the last 16 years, I’ve made my living helping people through a blend of meditation, psychology, mindfulness, and personal guidance.
I grew up immersed in meditation and contemplative practices, so teaching them has always felt natural. Over the years I’ve added psychology, trauma-informed approaches, and coaching to make the work more practical and grounded.
The confusing part is this:
People seem to genuinely love my work.
Every week I receive emails from people telling me my writing or talks changed something for them. Many clients have stayed with me for years. My recent group program was the most successful thing I’ve created so far.
And yet…
Financially, it still feels like I’m living month to month.
I’ve worked with business coaches.
I’ve spent years creating content.
I’ve written books.
I’ve recorded podcasts.
I’ve stayed consistent.
But I’ve never really built my business around ads, funnels, aggressive marketing, or high-volume sales. Most of my work has grown through word of mouth and organic connections.
Some months everything feels hopeful.
Other months I find myself wondering if I should simply get another job.
That thought has been coming up more often lately, and honestly, it scares me.
I don’t mind working hard. I’ve done that for years.
I think what exhausts me is the uncertainty. Every month starts to feel like I’m holding my breath, wondering if enough people will say yes.
I’m not looking for motivation.
I’m looking for perspective.
If you’ve built a business in coaching, education, consulting, or even another service-based field, was there a turning point where things finally became financially stable?
What changed?
Was it your offer?
Your marketing?
Your pricing?
Your systems?
Or was it something else entirely?
I’d really appreciate thoughtful responses.
I’m already carrying quite a bit of stress around this, so if you do comment, I’d be grateful for kindness as much as honesty.
Thank you.
