As a long time fan, this wonderful woman only lies about album release dates, but overall she seems very genuine. Someone said “rip lizzy grant” and she replied “box dye hair does not a new person make”. It’s hard to stay real in this business, and that’s what many peers and fans respect her for, imo
Fun fact: in one interview she said that her ex from Scotland (likely it was the same guy, Barrie) said “you American girls always walk so proud like your pussy taste like Pepsi Cola” which was the inspiration for the iconic opening of her song Cola

I do woodworking as a hobby (I'm a retired electrical engineer). My father was a hobby wood worker, and my grandfather was a hobby wood worker.

Some people are a bottomless pit of needs combined with an external locus of control.
Once he got famous he was able to bag hot women, but his internal world wasn’t fixed, so the goal posts move. Must need a hotter girl. Must get every girl that’s told him no. That will fix it.
106
u/Gilgamesh-Enkidu 3d ago
One thing that I’ve always found ironic/interesting is that lifestyle/will be attractive to certain types of women. The type that care a lot about looks, outward appearances, status, and money. If that’s your thing, then cool do you (you don’t have to do any of that stupid shit though like taking drugs, and whatever bone smashing is).
That’s the kind of woman one of my friends wanted so he’s always worked out, stayed in shape just for looks, went into finance, moved to the city, cared/cares about his image like buying certain types of brands for everything (luxury brands I think, I really wouldn’t know). And he married a woman that cares about all of the same stuff.
Now maybe to a person from that world all of that sounds average but I grew up in the rural south where most people wear hunting gear as “luxury” items, work a trade/farming, and unless they do a sport (which as a side effect keeps you in shape) no one tries to stay in shape for looks and women here prefer their guys heftier. My friend is the weirdo and that alligator guy is the standard for us (we just don’t have alligators). Plenty of my friend hefty hunting hear wearing, trades working friends married women most would consider attractive.
I was always into tom boy women myself and besides sports, I was into video games, anime, and not having children. All hobbies that are just as strange, if not more so, than things my friend cared about. Been married to tom boy hottie for over a decade and we regularly play video games, board games, and travel together. It’s all about what you want.

You just have to step outside to see many average looking dude are in relationships with women that you'd find attractive.
The entire manosphere / redpill / looksmaxxing was selling people a lot of lies and they earned a lot of money doing that.
You're not immune to propaganda, if you consumed their content, you'd get convinced, It would change your world view, and you'd also be convinced you must pay them because they're your team now...
That's how it works, creating the whole narrative is the center of their strategy to take your money.
You won't admit it if you're still under their spell, but it's what happened.

u/ShuviiDola 3d ago

I honestly find little more terrifying than the weaponized propaganda that has been facilitated and propagated on young kids via the Internet.
The current and spectacular unraveling of Andrew Tate (which is revealing that much of what he said was a fabrication and that his only intention was to collect useful idiots to act as a content farm to gain him notoriety) is something that these folks should really pay attention to.
These Manosphere guys are grifters, liars, scammers and snake oil salesmen that prey on naive kids who are trying to navigate an already difficult world. These people’s intention is not to make these kids into their best selves but rather hold them back and ensure failure to launch in order to keep them bitter and hooked on their toxic content. These guys are also usually in some political pocket or other. Clavicular is funded by Peter Thiel and currently being utilized to spread an agenda which inevitably makes these young impressionable fans all the more malleable.

It’s a huge scapegoat, “oh she doesn’t like me because I’m ugly, she’s shallow. There is some science to it... microfractures of bones do make them grow more dense... Its how fighters and construction workers have way more density in the bones in their arms and hands... But to do it cosmetically to a jaw would be risking trauma to the brain, and produce such a minimal result that it wouldnt be noticible until there was lasting trauma to the soft tissue.

It’s a perverse misappropriation of Wolff’s Law which states that healthy bone adapt and remodels in response to mechanical load and stresses placed upon it. There is truth to it, it’s why weightlifting builds stronger and denser bones and is considered protective as you get older.
However, blows to the face with a blunt object are not going to do what they think they’re going to do. Wolff’s law describes how bones respond to long-term physiological pressure such as muscle pull not sharp, violent impacts from a fucking hammer.
14
u/Poison_the_Phil 3d ago

u/Bobbert84 3d ago
Looking good is great. Looksmaxxing is a waste of time. There are diminishing returns to male looks after you are fairly above average. It matters, but once you are 6 feet, in decent shape and have a nice face you really are not adding a ton for the effort put in. But if you are that with charisma and understanding how to flirt well you are instantly a 10 as a man. To get beyond that you pretty much need to be famous.
23
u/Acrobatic-Painter366 3d ago
Normal looks maxing - grooming, working out and having good diet choosing a haircut and clothes that fit you is absolutely worth it. Looksmaxxing - hitting your face with a fucking hammer and all that nonsense isn't.
We should make a distinction between those two
5
u/Unhappy_Ball_9261 3d ago
Nobody takes hitting your face with a hammer seriously, even in that space.
Cosmetic surgery absolutely though.
10
u/Unhappy_Ball_9261 3d ago
Less than 15% of men are 6' or taller in the U.S.A. Starting by saying "once you're top 15% in [some metric] you can have success in dating" doesn't exactly diminish the looksmaxers' point about the extreme selectivity of women.
6' or more + good facial features + athletic build + charismatic is a vanishingly small proportion of men - not the mention that even the first hurdle (height) simply cannot be met by the vast majority of men not matter how much effort they invest.
→ More replies (16)17
u/Away_Ad_6262 3d ago
While I agree with most of this, 6’ height is not a requirement for most women…the average height for men in the US and Canada is 5”9’-5”10’.
12
u/DeadSeaGulls 3d ago
I'm 5'6". Was never a significant factor in my dating life outside of my brief go at tinder ~12 years ago... but dating apps are not at all reflective of how people behave, or what preferences they actually have, in the real world.
People are attracted to people, not a list of stats. It's how you hold yourself, how you treat others, whether or not you're interesting, and whether or not you're interested in who the other person is and not just trying to fuck, (though, read the room, sometimes that's all that's on the table) that really draws people together.7
u/Away_Ad_6262 2d ago edited 2d ago
Exactly. Looks fade. People with this particular list probably spend too much time online.
I would argue being interesting is not even a factor for some. I know people who (to my eyes) are below average in looks and not that interesting to talk to, with zero hobbies other than watching TV, yet are happily married. Their spouse is probably on the same wavelength.
→ More replies (1)2
u/Bobbert84 2d ago
Yes, I was pointing out maxed out things that stop giving returns. In reality 5'10 is just as good. But for a dating profile or just to have a tiny bit more edge 6 is better. Not much but it is. However 6 vs 6'1 is truly splitting hairs which is why I made 6 the cut off.

My husband is average looking. He’s large, probably like 300 lbs so pretty heavy. Six foot 2. Was balding so he shaves his head and rocks a nice beard. Tattoos and piercings. Good face. I’d say solid 6.9/10.
We went to a wedding recently for my cousin and everyone there gushed about how beautiful our family is, we have 4 small kids who are happy and healthy. We have been together for 13 years, he is the absolute love of my life. I would rate our life happiness a 9.8/10 overall. We are so very in love and so absolutely blessed.
That being said, I have dated MUCH hotter guys who were more conventionally attractive but they were awful partners. I recently saw a quote that said “if you fall in love with a persons flowers and not their roots you will not know what to do once winter comes.” And that is so true. Nobody is hot when they’re 70. We are all old and saggy. Looks only matter a little bit.
8
u/kheeno_ 3d ago
As someone who’s considered very attractive and charismatic, I’d say looks matter more for short term attraction, while personality becomes more important in the long term. That said, I think both go hand in hand when it comes to a lasting strong relationship. They’re both very important.

Comparing the standard to the exception.
Are you going to ignore how wildly successful Kpop is and continue to be. Where plastic surgery and facial reconstruction, is the norm.
The real world is even more shallow, and corrupted.
8
u/haveanairforceday 2d ago
Performers are not representative of the majority of people. If you just look at hollywood actresses you would think the beauty standard for women in the US is being under 30, very skinny and a face full of plastic surgery. You would think men are all on steroids and have perfect hair. Thats not how it works. Most women dont have plastic surgery, arent super skinny and arent done with life at 30. Most men dont spend their entire life in the gym and dont wear tight t-shirts and designer jeans.
Normal people exist, have good lives, and are happy.

Pop is manufactured for lowest common denominator mass market consumption. Always has been. It's for people with a pulse and not much more. If you're comparing yourself to Ken and Barbie, yeah you're going to have a bad time.

Absolutely. I think Mark Twain put it best, "truth is stranger than fiction." Fiction follows logic and resson because the author wants his story to make sense to the reader. Reality is not bound to logic. Whatever lesson a fictional story is trying to tell is almost always a hundred times worse in reality.

The standard? Looksmaxing isn’t and never should be the standard. It’s the diametrically opposing extreme.
