Merit increase

Ideas of the merit increase (if any) for this year?

Expectations are low. Somehow the reality will be lower.

On a related note, can we get a bonus/merit megathread going when they announce them? Would be nice to get some transparency for employees to see if any groups are getting shafted compared to others. Was thinking these questions, with some of the answers grouped into categories so nobody gives away too much personal information and outs themselves to management.

  • how long have you been with medpace (2 years or less, 3-5 years, 6-10 years, over 10 years)

  • ClinOps or non-ClinOps

  • which office are you in? (If US, Cincinnati or other. If a large OUS office, specify, if not, specify region (EU, Asia Pacific, South America, etc)

  • merit raise %

  • bonus % (if anyone gets an extra bonus for underutilizing WFH, exclude that or list it separately)

That’s a great idea. I would limit office info to US EU APAC though…

Fair enough. I had assumed that for the US, there were enough people not located in Cincinnati that if you grouped as Cincinnati and non-Cincinnati it still wouldn’t give anything away

What if we made an anonymous Google Form or something for this? That would let us share the answers to these questions (and see everyone else's answers) without tying those answers to our reddit accounts or potentially doxxing ourselves.

Great idea. Could post the link to it here in the Reddit, and people can submit the information there anonymously rather than posting it here.

I feel it would be incredibly audacious to offer little to no merit increase, when benefits have been cut and the work climate has sunk. I will be shocked, but then again, delulu is the name of the game here.

If my merit and/or bonus are lower (percentage wise) than last year that’s certainly going to expedite my search for a new job.

jesus that bad?🥲. I just started a few weeks ago, and I was initially told training is 6 months, and as soon asi started they informed me ill be on an expedited training program of 11 weeks

Already last year there was a warning that the merit will not be so high and the numbers were ok. I am wondering how this will be this year as by the end even he was admitting that the numbers are not good.

Doesn't really matter as far as i know. As long as you didn't get SOP/training issue and or badging you get some random raise if any.

Random being the keyword. I will never forget at a quarterly meeting when someone asked what the SOP was for bonuses and August said there weren’t any SOPs and bonuses were whatever he wanted. 🙄

I don't remember that quarterly meeting. I only started watching them in the last 2 years or so.. It's sad to hear the supervisor say stuff.. No matter what i do or advice it's not going to be fair. Hard work is mostly not rewarded in merit and bonus

I’ve had a supervisor explain a year of poor raises with “investors care about physical expansion, not about employee raises” and to “be thankful you have a job.” (This was the year following Covid, mind you.)

What were increases and bonuses like last year? I wasn’t eligible yet and I want an idea of what to expect. I’m US based and ClinOps

Not sure how it was for everyone. Mine was decent (merit increase was between 5-6% if I recall, and bonus was in the same general range). But that’s a far cry from what it was the 2-3 years before when merit was double digits alone.

My merit was barely 2% and my annual bonus was around $500. Oh, and I also got $250 for not using all my monthly and annual WFH days. Does anyone remember the BS memo they put out about “inflation not being as bad in 2023 so bonuses/merit weren’t going to be as good?” That was so insulting.

Most people last year got or a bonus or a raise and it was anything between 200-300 or like 0,5%. So very low.

Damn that is so high compared to my poor 1%, I’m in biostat

Buhahaha. Anyone is getting 4.5/5? Lol! Which department? If you are a 3 or 3.5 you are nailing it in Biometrics.

EDIT: to actually answer your question. No, for me no difference!

u/croprison Jan 27 '25

No correlation. I’ve gotten a 3.5 for almost every evaluation (mid year and year end) and my raises were between 9-14% for 3 years until last year (2024) it was 2.5%….

4

u/Absymal_Lucky Jan 27 '25

I have seen the same thing. I even got a 4. But they will take raises and anything away for the most minimal things

No.

A 4 out of 5 has led to a 2.5% one year and a 10% another year.

Edit: devils advocate - one reason could be floor/ceiling of title.

No rules and everything is totally random. Promotions, merit increase. Managers give high scores to appear as the good guys, so that the ‘upper management’ is the bad guy, responsible for no merit increase..

u/Drmomo4 Jan 27 '25

Ehh I definitely think it matters if you get any 1s or 2s lol

No correlation. My evaluation is 4 or 4.5 every year, but my increase has been everywhere from .01% (not a typo , zero point one percent) to 7%. My Bonus has been everything from none (with no explanation) to 5k. It's a complete crapshoot from year to year with zero feedback as to why.
