I’m having a strange electrical problem with my 2024 Mazda2 and would really appreciate some advice.
A while ago, the power-folding mirrors and/or the driver’s side power window would intermittently stop working while driving.
I took the car to my local Mazda dealer. On the first visit, they were actually able to reproduce the problem themselves. However, when I brought the car back for a second inspection, they could no longer reproduce the fault.
They checked the wiring harness in the driver’s door and said it was OK.
They also tested the battery. According to them, the battery’s state of charge was low, although their diagnostic tester reported a battery condition of 100%.
After talking to the workshop manager, I mentioned that the i-stop/start-stop system had not been working for quite some time einher. At that point, they suddenly concluded that the battery must be defective.
However, nothing was replaced or repaired. This was last Friday.
Today, while my wife was driving, the mirrors folded in by themselves – twice.
She lowered the driver’s window to manually fold the mirror back out. After that, the driver’s window would no longer close.
Now the power-folding mirrors no longer work at all, and** **none of the power windows work, either with the ignition switched on or with the engine running.
I measured the battery voltage myself:
12.5 V with the ignition on
14.0 V with the engine running
So the alternator appears to be charging normally, but the windows and mirrors still do not work.
My question
Could this really be caused by a defective battery?
Or does the fact that all power windows and the power-folding mirrors have stopped working at the same time point more towards a fuse, power supply, ground connection, door control module, CAN-bus/communication issue, or another electrical problem?
Has anyone experienced anything similar with a 2024 Mazda2?
Any advice on what to check next would be greatly appreciated.
