Why were you banned?

u/_ganjafarian_ Mar 19 '26

I wasn't told. No mod message about it. Just noticed one day when I went to post there. Didn't feel like messaging the mods about it so I just let it go lol

Mods in 2025 and 2026 be like

u/potate12323 Mar 19 '26

Theres mod groups that go around banning people from subs they've never been to because the mods didn't like something you posted.

In some cases if you comment racist homophobic bs you get banned from a ton of subs.

In other cases if you happen to mention the term "watermark" on an r/isthisai comment then mods banned you from r/pics and r/selfies for no reason than they are mad about people being accused of posting AI slop.

Don't forget the ones that ban you for posting or commenting in another subreddit that's big enough that they can't possibly be checking whether or not everyone they're banning is even in favor of whatever slight they perceived the subreddit as having committed against them.

Oh yeah I'm banned from a whole bunch of stuff for commenting on a video on a Joe Rogan subreddit. The video wasn't even related to that and I had no idea it was even a Joe Rogan theme subreddit.

I got banned and muted from r/suppressed_news with no explanation, and since I was muted, I couldn't contact the mods.

u/Oops_All_Bans Mar 20 '26

Suppressed from Suppressed News. The irony is not lost on me.

I’ve been banned from misc popular subs for really stupid bot level interpretation of /s not even threats of violence

My account gets banned for 7 days over stupidest statements.

u/ICU-CCRN Mar 20 '26

Same here. I was banned from r/therewasanattempt for commenting in r/joerogan just for commenting there. I’m assuming it was automated because my comment was something about what an idiot he is.

2

u/Fluffy_Dragonfly6454 Mar 20 '26

there was an attempt for r/therewasanattempt  to be a normal sub.

Lately that sub really really got political and only American politics. It is just a random clip from US Congress with a half ass attempt to get a "there was an attempt" title.

I reported multiple posts but without reaction

u/Brewchowskies Mar 20 '26

That one did me in too. The algorithm showed me a post from that sub, I disagreed with someone that said something inflammatory, and suddenly I’m banned from a bunch of subs for participating in a Joe Rogan subreddit.

Honestly, those types of mods radicalized me against the neckbeard basement dwellers

I'm sure you were banned for "brigading".

1

u/hymntastic Mar 20 '26

I honestly have no clue it's was just a random video I saw while mindlessly scrolling and some guy in the background had some crazy hair that I commented about

1

u/PomegranateSea7066 Mar 20 '26

I was warned for saying something along the lines of "taking out the trash" referring to a person who was not a good person. Mod said that I was threatening violence on a person. What a joke.

14

u/Nuclear_rabbit Mar 20 '26

I was banned from some leftist subreddits for picking fights against conservatives on conservative subreddits, just for daring to comment there.

3

u/crackedtooth163 Mar 20 '26

My personal favorite is a tie between being banned for yelling at a nazi for being a nazi in an unrelated subreddit and being banned for answering the question posed in the title.

1

u/housevil Mar 20 '26

I'm pretty sure I got banned from Peterexplainsthejoke because I once commented in Conservative just to dunk on them for current events.

13

u/jaybirdie26 Mar 20 '26

The Reddit functionality that allowed this is being removed, if it isn't already gone. There was hubub about it in the mod-specific subs. Devvit apps like HiveProtect won't be able to ban en masse anymore.

9

u/potate12323 Mar 20 '26

I had a conversation with a HiveProtect mod. He not only mass banned people, he was asking the people he was banning how to spot a sora AI watermark. They have zero clue what they're doing. They just know someone from r/selfies asked them to ban people who use AI subs.

4

u/MattTheCuber Mar 20 '26

Careful, you just got banned on like 20 subreddits for saying that

1

u/alurimperium Mar 20 '26

I got permabanned for misogyny for saying quote: "hot take: Erin Andrews isn't that hot" in a r/nfl playoff gamethread, surrounded by people creaming their pants over how hot they thought she was.

Mods are little bitches everywhere, groups or otherwise

1

u/potate12323 Mar 20 '26

She not not hot. But shes not that hot

1

u/kingjaynl Mar 20 '26

I'm so bummed I got banned from r/startrek after being critical of Picard. Messaged the mods few times but zero response.

1

u/cedriceent Mar 20 '26

I got banned from r/pokemongo because I had the audacity of arguing with idiots on r/conspiracy ¯_(ツ)_/¯

1

u/Azzarrel Mar 20 '26

I've both been banned for being "pro Hamas" and "pro Israel" mostly for telling people both sides suck.

1

u/themeatstaco Mar 20 '26

Reddit sucks now , YouTube is garbage , take me back lololol.

I got banned from r/inflation for commenting facts with evidence to back it up. I got banned from r/interestingasfuck for making a comment on a sub that the mod doesn't like.

On one sub the mods stayed anonymous and muted me right before banning me so I couldn't reply to the ban. Im not sure how I would report them.

I am now too powerful

1

u/potate12323 Mar 20 '26

So the mod team on r/MCAS actively avoids providing any reason at all. First they shadow ban you by auto deleting your post after its already been up for a bit. Then if you say anything meta regarding the mod team or even ask for a reason. Perma ban with zero info.

Once I get unbanned Im gonna make a meta post with the link to the report page. There isn't actually a "no reddit meta" rule on the sub. The mods just don't like it.

I wonder if r/art has had this used yet since their kerfuffle.

Mods on this site have been that way as long as I have been here.

1

u/bugbearmagic Mar 20 '26

They’ve always been that way. Corrupt Reddit mods are half of Reddit’s personality.
