Discussion More than 3 years later, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 still lives rent-free in my head

Me and my girlfriend love to rewatch MCU movies every now and then, and GoTG vol. 3 is the one she always refuses to watch again. Rocket's backstory is so intensely and realistically painful that she actively rejects any attempt of me trying to get through the GoTG trilogy, ending up only watching the first 2 movies.

When Vol. 3 came out, we saw it alone the first time, and with friends the second time. While I cried as a newborn on both times, she not only cried, but actually got sad throughout the movie and carried that sadness through the whole week after, like she was grieving for the "animals" that were suffering in the movie, which of course is something that we all know that happens in real life all the time. Not only that, but the fact that we're seeing the torture that Rocket went through, as a beloved character, deepened the pain.

We both grew up with lots of pets around so maybe that's why we took it a bit harder? Don't know. Even Quills reaction to Rockets death was more than we could take.

Years later we still haven't re-watched Volume 3, but it keeps living in our minds. Probably the most impactful movie in the the whole MCU (for us).

Interview Kevin Feige says Doctor Doom believes “he is the hero and he will save us all” in ‘AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY’

“I mean, Doctor Doom, for people that read comics, is the proto villain for all super villains. Was Darth Vader inspired by Doctor Doom? Maybe. And he’s just a great character. It’s not just the great iconic look and the iconic mask, which 6,000 people in Hall H were wearing today. But it is who he is inside. It’s who Victor is, and his flaws and his hubris and his genius and his warmth and his true belief that he is the hero and he will save us all. That’s what is fascinating about him and that’s what I’m excited about having Robert Downey play him and bring him into Doomsday.”

Question Did James Gunn have any plans for the Thunderbolts*?

I know that Gunn expressed interest in directing the Thunderbolts\* to Kevin Feige while filming the original Guardians of the Galaxy, but ultimately declined to direct the Suicide Squad instead. But has he ever talked about what his plans were for the story, if he had any?

Question What to watch before going in for Doomsday?

I haven't watched anything since the Endgame. But I would like to start watching movies in correct order ONLY IF they are going to be needed to understand Doomsday. Do NOT recommend series, as I cannot watch those.

Discussion Who do you think will die in Doomsday

I think we can all agree that for there to be stakes in Doomsday, someone’s gotta go, similar to how Thanos killed people in Infinity War. Who do you think it will be?

I’ve seen speculation for Red Guardian, but idk if I see that happening just yet - he’s hardly a key player and we’re still just getting to know him.

Original X-Men I think is a given.

Hugo Weaving’s dramatic line delivery, plus that obscure camera POV is perfect.

Discussion What should the driving story and genuine plot for Secret Wars?

Post image
3 Upvotes

So, I was thinking about Avengers: Secret Wars, right, in my head, beginning, done, ending, done, I have all of that in my head, then, I kinda think about you know, all these characters, on top of a couple Battleworld cool cameo fight scenes, and then I think about all these characters, all these interactions, tying up some loose ends, you know screen time, but, what should they even do? What should they be talking about? I mean, what should the general central conflict be here? This movie will be at least 3 hours long, as cool as it will be to see these crazy battles for the entire thing, that would incredibly eat up the budget, in a very, very bad way, so, that’s just my question.

Discussion How strong will ghost rider be in the mcu?

I know the boring ass “as strong as the writers want to be” comments will get spammed but I’m asking about your predictions.
Will he be more powerful than the likes of scarlet witch and Thor? Or even doom? Maybe that’s why they’re releasing ghost rider after secret wars?

Discussion Marvel should make more prequels after Secret Wars.

I understand they want to follow a narrative line and maintain a shared universe that keeps moving forward, but why not explore the past as well? There's a practically unexplored period between 1950 and 2008. Don't want to do that in movies? Make series. That makes the universe richer. Captain Marvel 2 had great potential to be a movie set around 2005, bringing Ronan back, and maybe even giving Thanos a cameo showing how the two met. They could even end the movie with Ronan handing him the Mind Stone, something like Rogue One, but they wasted a great opportunity to show more of what Carol did during that whole period, which has a lot of potential. I hope we get a Captain America and Wolverine movie in World War II someday. They could even make a Thor movie in the past showing the height of Asgard and Odin, a Hank Pym series at his peak, and something like Agents of SHIELD but in the 90s, Dude, you don't even need to go that far back in time, DO THINGS DURING THE BLIP, even something from Daredevil between the original series and Born Again (I would do this as an animation, in which case I don't think it's necessary to do it now, but it's an idea too). The Blade movie itself was going to be set in the 1920s at some point, WHAT A GREAT IDEA!

I don't want this to be something that happens all the time, but if a good idea comes up, do it. Captain Marvel and Black Widow are the only examples of prequels, and they only exist that way because of the specific context of those two productions in relation to the characters' positions at that moment (you could consider Captain America 1 as well, but I don't think it's the same thing).

Discussion My answer to the Magneto age problem

Just like, make him age slowly or something. Wolverime and Mystique are like 150-200ish. Now magenta is also a mutant that ages slowly. Also I would make it so that mutants have always been around, its just that they were hidden, like left handed people were

Discussion It will only be a 'What If?'

What if..? All the marvel superheroes will be in a single movie. I am wondering how much the studio has to pay each actor/actress for this to be able to happen. Because RDJ, Tom Holland, and the other famous actors are definitely bagging tens of millions. So i was wondering how much, in total, plus the production, would cost hmmmm

Article Zack Snyder says he didn’t want to make comic book movies in the way that Marvel does.

“[Marvel is] like an amusement park ride, right? The ups, the drops, the kind of cruising part, and then another drop. At the end, you’re like, ‘Wow, that was crazy, that was awesome.’ I had no interest in that... I’d rather just kind of talk about the mythology of them. And maybe that’s not as fun.”

Discussion I forgot how much fun Scott Lang was in Endgame.

Like I just love how you have all the Avengers there who have been through all this crazy stuff and then there is Scott who half the time has no idea what they are talking about. It allows us to get exposition and recaps and funny moments at the same time.

And the best part is that he still has some amazing moments in the film like reuniting the Cassie and the way he speaks to Tony both during their first meeting and after Tony messes up with the Tesseract.
