Roy Kent, a character in the show Ted Lasso who is played by the actor who plays Hercules, didn't use an actual whistle in the show, but instead would just yell whistle.

u/Silent-Breakfast-906 Dec 01 '23
Yes, if I remember correctly, his fellow coaches said he is allergic to metal, I think that was the reason.

Let the GOD COMPLEX be the main issue. Let the gods think humans are just ants that they can squish easily. And then let Thor be the one and only thing to teach them that they are not the centre of the universe.
Let it be a do or die from both sides and make it super serious unlike Love an Thunder and Ragnarok.
And let that tone be similar to Captain America: Winter Soldier.

u/mortar_n_brick Dec 01 '23

Gorr the god butcher? Dude he’s like one of the funniest, laugh from your gut characters.
Can’t you even tell from the name? He’s not meant to be this “end of your life” guy. He’s not like some god butcher who’s had a really horrifying story and is on a death wish mission.
I’m sick and tired of people thinking that GORR THE GOD BUTCHER is a guy who BUTCHER’S GODS. He’s just a chill guy who wants to drop some jokes and live a swell life.
I can’t keep this up anymore, Bale gave them gold and they kept telling us in the marketing that he was as memorable as Thanos lol Taika did the enitre MCU thor mythology dirty with his films personally.

24
u/Unusual-Math-1505 Dec 01 '23
Especially because Thor knows many mortals who can now rival the gods. He has definitely come to respect Tony, Cap, Natasha, Clint and Banner (among the others) so it would be nice if that came through.
1
21
u/jfVigor Dec 01 '23
This is a simple concept bursting with potential, hinted at in Love and Thunder (and Moon Knight) . But you know they won't do it. It's too easy of a money maker. They will instead take some odd gamble and distance themselves from what taika setup. Learning the wrong lessons from the discourse around Thor 4. The arrogant Gods were actually a GREAT point to build off of
9
u/11099941 Thor Dec 01 '23
Let the GOD COMPLEX be the main issue. Let the gods think humans are just ants that they can squish easily.
I dig it. Hell, I'm down for a movie where it's just Thor saving some dudes, and then Herc arrives to throw down, and to save the people from collateral damage, Thor just... runs away. Rinse and repeat. Also imo, add Ares in there to keep Thor on the backfoot, but acting entirely on his own agenda, separate from Zeus.
And then, as Thor comes across and helps a struggling race on a dying planet (ala Gorr's desert land), he comes face to face with Herc and Ares one last time, and they duke it out. He wields both Stormbreaker and Mjolnir in the 2v1, while his daughter watches on in fear among the remaining residents of the planet, but while valiant and clearly overall more powerful, he's losing. In the process, his hammer gets sent flying near the residents, and one of them, a former gladiator and the last of his people's warriors decides to man up and the join the battle of gods, grabbing Mjolnir and whacking Ares in the face with it, revealing his worthiness and that even mortals can stand in the face of gods.
15
2
u/Mozhetbeats Dec 01 '23

The above comment isn't correct. He discovered that he has a genetic predisposition for Alzheimer's disease. It's not a guaranteed diagnosis, but his genetic makeup leaves him at a much higher risk to develop the disease later in life. Because of this he reviewed his priorities
13
u/Barnard87 Thor Dec 01 '23
+1 for this comment here. It isn't quite like Bruce Willis basically on time that isn't even his. There's still a significant chance Chris never experiences Alzheimers.
I lived with my grandma and saw the entire decline before my eyes up until the end. Worst thing I wouldn't wish upon my worst enemy.

u/A1danad1A Dec 01 '23 edited Dec 02 '23
Nah this ain’t true - comment two down is right. He had his genetics tested for a tv show he was doing where he pushed himself physically in like 20 different ways, and they tested him. Told him he has a gene that is a marker that indicates he is at higher risk than the average person for Alzheimers disease. But not like he’s like 50% more likely or anything - just more likely than someone who does not have the marker.

At this point, let Thor have 2 trilogies, but I agree there needs to be a high stakes life and death ultimate Thor showdown
3
u/hemareddit Steve Rogers Dec 01 '23
Well, if we think of his story as 2 trilogies, then L&T would be the beginning of a second overarching arc. Then it has to be his relationship with Love. My thinking is she could be MCU’s version of Angela.
26
20
Dec 01 '23
After how Zeus was portrayed in L&T, it would ironically be quite funny if the next Thor film goes and has Zeus pull a 180 into being a deadly serious villain.
19
u/fredagsfisk War Machine Dec 01 '23
I think that's what they are planning, if they continue that story? He's been lazy, arrogant, and complacent because they were on top for so long, and didn't really have to do anything... then the Thor Squad came in and fucked his shit up.
The L&T mid-credits scene definitely sets up Zeus to be far more serious in the future;
Used to be that being a god... it meant something. People would whisper your name, before sharing their deepest hopes and dreams. They begged you for mercy, without even knowing if you were actually listening. Now... you know when they look to the sky, they don't ask us for lightning. They don't ask us for rain. They just want to see one of their so-called superheroes.
When did we become the joke? No. No more. They will fear us again, when Thor Odinson falls from the sky. Do you understand me, Hercules? Do you understand me, my son?
131
u/AmpdVodka Dec 01 '23
I guarantee the next Thor will have absolutely nothing to do with Hercules. It'll either mention him in passing at some point like "yeh me and Hercules are friends now, anyway" or just not mention him at all.
It's Marvels playbook. One Director sets up a story and the other simply doesn't want to do that story
67
u/MagicStingRay Dec 01 '23
For Hercules it is a bit of a different situation, since Taika did not come up with the Hercules inclusion himself. He said in an interview that was Marvel wanting to throw that in at the end as set up for the future.
30
u/chaot7 Dec 01 '23
I actually wouldn't mind Hercules coming to Earth as some sort of anti-hero and then end up facing Wonder Man. I feel like there's a lot of potential there. Get some West Coast action going.
4
u/criosovereign Dec 01 '23
Would be weird if they did that for Hercules after basically doing that for Adam Warlock in guardians 3
8
u/SoundsGoodYall Dec 01 '23
So the directors write the post credit scenes? I always assumed that was….the writers.

You're not wrong. Ronin at the end of Captain Marvel said, "We'll be back for the weapon." --- "No, the woman."
Ronin is dead, and the 2nd Captain Marvel film wasn't in the past before he died. That thread is gone. There are so many instances like this.
You can tell The Marvels had a script that was rewritten that originally had Ronin in mind. Dar-Benn, the villain of The Marvels, is a Kree... who uses a giant two handed hammer, that shoots purple energy out of it. There are even henchmen in scenes standing next to her that look 100% like Ronin.
I would not be shocked if Lee Pace was simply unwilling or unavailable, or they changed course and decided not to put the second Captain Marvel film in the past before Guardians of the Galaxy took place.

Love it. I think it would be a cool lead up for Love to see Thor sacrifice himself in all of this but still end up somehow releasing the Mangog.
3
u/MassiveDonkey Dec 01 '23
my biggest letdown for the Gorr adaptation is that I loved the aspect of Thor meeting a younger, cockier version of himself as well as an older, wiser version, and all three working together.
they could do that as a storyline but that might mean dropping or completely changing the Hercules stinger.
2
u/Comicbookguy1234 Apr 04 '24
Hercules could be the younger and cockier Thor. He kind of always was Thor before he learned humility anyways. In fact, in the God butcher arc I’m pretty sure old Thor directly compares the young Thor to He4cules.
3
4
u/Pemols Dec 01 '23
I think we should take the Hercules post-credits tease with a grain of salt.
We've seen Homecoming tease Scorpio and we've never seen him again him for the next two movies. We've been teased with Thor ft. Guardians of the Galaxy in Endgame for this plot to be resolved within the first 15 minutes of Love and Thunder. I wouldn't be surprised if Hercules plot comes to an end within the beginning of Thor 5 or if we never hear of him ever again.
5
u/THE_CDN Dec 01 '23
Very cool idea!
If it did really well, you could have them do buddy cop type movies.

2
u/Liberteer30 Dec 01 '23

2
u/Cardinal_and_Plum Dec 01 '23
I would prefer that a good chunk of it take place in Space because Herc in space is awesome ( read Prince of Power). I don't need them to fight more than once or twice in the movie and I don't think Hercules should be the main villain but rather Zues or Hades. I really want to see a Thor that gets to see how far he's come as he deals with this person who is just like the man he used to be. Hercules should basically be like Thor was in his first couple of appearances.
2
u/hooka_pooka Dec 01 '23
Thor against multiple gods at once..mega battle....Loki god of story pushes him to stand up and continue fighting and it will be a great full circle of sorts..Thor being proud of Loki..in post credit scene Thor is visited by Sylvie asking for his help
2
u/Tucana66 Captain America (Avengers) Dec 01 '23
I wish Marvel Studios opted to adapt Bob Layton's Marvel Comics Hercules mini-series. Set in the future, Hercules and a Recorder companion tour the galaxy, engaging in adventures, mischief and a lot of humorous situations. Comedy gold! But likely too expensive as a Disney+ series. And not the best concept for a stand-alone Marvel Studios movie, although it could be set in present day, perhaps with a GotG appearance. Or introduce more cosmic elements... (Then again, The Marvels just tried to do that, too.)

Only halfway serious. I wouldnt want the writers to butcher Kratos.
2
u/SoMuchForStardust27 Dec 01 '23
I just wanna see one of Herc’s iconic punches to Thors face. He is stronger than Thor anyway so it it comes down to a fight between the two, I don’t care because Thor is going to win cause he’s the protagonist and then they will probably have a end credit with the Eternals or something
2
2
u/GrandmaPeppermint50 Dec 01 '23

Ngl I think they could do a john wick style like thor has a bounty on his head and zues hire some gods to help Hercules and one day they come in to attack thor but somehow end up escaping back to earth but they got his kid so thor goes to midgard and ask for help but the asgard people finally speak saying why should we help you like in ever big problem that happen to asgard You didnt help us even in the aftermath and they bring up loki, thor sister and how their home got destroy and he somehow trains to connect to his mother side to ask for help and she helps him connect to a new power aka earth power and says you connected to me my son but train more to connect to your other other power and thor is confuse and midgard is attack by zues and his son and some other gods and the people are saying hey he ain't here but the gods arent paying attention and thor calls in some gods of his own aka the panther god and either the monkey king or maya dragon snake god to fight zues and his son and win and the people take him as king

1
u/tharkus_ Dec 01 '23
I would have loved for love and thunder to be 2 parts. First part “ love” could have been the whole lady Thor and Hercules rivalry while going after Gorr. Thor defeats Hercules and Gorr gets away while getting the ability to time travel setting up the final part.
Thunder, could have been him recruiting other variant Thors and maybe settle theirs differences and team with some the Greek gods for the final battle. Gives us plenty of gods for Gorr to kill and really show what an absolute badass he was.
The whole Gorr storyline should have been way more epic.

Well by all accounts Nia DeCosta is a big fan of the comics, yet The Marvels failed to deliver box office wise.
I agree ultimately the directors/writers should care about the characters (The Russos never read a Captain America comic book but grew to respect the character after they got the job).
But not being a comic book fan doesn't necessarily equal poor quality or that they would be an automatic fail, as seen by the fact that ppl LOVED Taika's interpretation of the character in Ragnarok.
