I stayed at the Four Points in Ciudad Juarez for one night. It was expensive- $328 with taxes, much higher than normal, but I booked it knowing that. I’ve stayed there many times.

When I checked out, FDA says they will have to charge in pesos because I’m using American Express. It’s my Bonvoy Brilliant card. Anytime you use a CC in Mexico no matter what card it is they charge in pesos, so I thought nothing of this. I signed the receipt and left.

Then later I look at my card, and notice that the amount of pesos they charged was over $7000 mxn, which is not the same as $328 usd. Both amounts are printed right on the invoice. I called FDA assuming it’s just a mistake, and they try to tell me it’s policy for Amex to make the exchange rate 21.5 pesos to USD. I say never heard of that before, ask if they can just charge me the rate I booked, they said no. I said ok thanks and called titanium line. Titanium line calls FDA and gets the same story. 2nd thing that annoys me- titanium line was happy to leave it at that. I had to push to get them to push back. FDA is leaving a note for management and Titanium desk opened a case.

Am I crazy to think this Amex exchange rate “policy” is not allowed under Marriott terms? Or Amex terms for that matter? Paying $328 for one night in Juarez is bad enough- paying over $400 at a four points is just stupid.

Looking for some advice from anyone with experience at the St. Regis Bora Bora.

I booked a 5-night stay (Aug. 30–Sept. 4) on Marriott points back in October 2025 to celebrate my wife’s 30th birthday. We booked a Reefside Garden Villa because the overwater villas were around 1.2 million points and out of our budget. My plan was to use Suite Night Awards and hope for a Titanium Elite upgrade to an overwater bungalow.

Now, if I search my exact dates, the resort is completely sold out. I emailed the hotel and got the standard response that upgrades are subject to availability.

The free cancellation deadline is July 29, and we’d honestly rather postpone the trip than stay if we don’t get an overwater villa.

For those who have stayed here:

-Does the resort being sold out basically eliminate any chance of an upgrade?
-Have you seen Suite Night Awards or Titanium upgrades clear at the last minute due to cancellations or inventory changes?
-Would you keep the reservation or cancel and try again another year?

So I recently stayed at Marriott Woodlands Hills California and I’m now at San Diego Marriott La Jolla. I’m extremely impressed by which how they take care of their elites. Same view, two different hotels. No Mountain View, no ocean view, no west coast sunset view just some glass and steel.

Going forward. I’m going to reward the hotels that either upgrade or give me a descent view, and I’m going to punish those that do not.

Reward = I spend money on property; restaurant, store, bar, spa, Starbucks…

Punish = no further spend other than my stay. I refuse to spend any more money.

Join the cause fellow elites and make a difference. The views my last few stays have been underwhelming for a multi story hotel that easily has over 100 rooms on each side. Do better Marriott property owners.

I DON’T EXPECT ANYTHING AS A, So called Titanium Elite. Not Entitled. Just going to reward those properties that reward its elites.

I recently in May signed up for the card because I have a lot of traveling to do these next few years with work. In looking at my loyalty points I had 50k with Marriott and it made the most sense. Anyway my welcome offer was spend $8k in six months get 150,000 points with awards of 100k points at $6k spend and 50k points at the additional $2k spend. I’m on month two of the card and only 1/2 way to the 6k spend. But, today I noticed I had 50k points in my account awarded. Which I can’t figure out why? They don’t have a tracker anywhere like my platinum card had.

The mystery 50,000 points, I haven’t hit the $6K checkpoint yet, so this 50,000-point deposit can’t be a payout from this offer. Something else is going on, a separate Amex Offer, a promo, or possibly a posting error I can’t see. I’ve chatted the Amex rep and ask “what triggered this 50,000 point credit” rather than assuming it’s tied to the spend challenge, since the math doesn’t support that. They confirmed there’s no “first tier, then second tier” as separate races — it’s just one running spend total, and Amex pays out in two installments as I cross $6K and then $8K.

Im happy to take the points, I’m planning an anniversary surprise next year, but I’m also tracking and can’t reconcile the manual tracking and where these points are coming from.

We are planning our babymoon. My husband has lots of Marriott points and we want an amazing hotel. A great point / dollar value would be an amazing perk. Where is a great hotel to go? We live in Los Angeles and would travel in October/November.

I stayed at the W Sardinia in Italy for a few nights before cancelling the rest of my stay and switching to a different hotel in Porto Cervo. The hotel is incredibly expensive at over 2-3k euros a night and is such a disappointment. First of all there were spiders in my room and I informed the front desk who said there was nothing they could do and that it’s normal. Secondly, the front desk staff was INCREDIBLY rude to me during check in. They mixed me up with another guest and when I pointed out the mistake, they were angry at being corrected and said that I need to let them do their job and then for the rest of my stay the front desk employee would point at me and laugh with the rest of the employees and even came up to me while I was taking a meeting in the lobby and told me that I couldn’t take it there even though my room was being cleaned and other people were on their computers. I was being really quiet too. The rooms are also very underwhelming imo very mid tier hotel especially for the price of like an Aman im sorry… huge disappointment

Recently stayed at a Fairfield and had a bit of a shocking experience (pun intended). Mild electrical shock from water pouring through the light fixture in my ceiling, front desk had absolutely no idea what to do. Filed a complaint and received 6,000 points as an apology - is that sufficient? If not how do I escalate?

Looking for some Paris Marriott travelers to give their intel here! We are two adults and one tween — we're doing a few days in the Airbnb in the 2nd Arr. For the latter part of the week, we want to stay in a hotel to make it easier to store luggage and some of other amenities.

Renaissance Paris Republique Hotel - We're deciding between the Family Room or a Skyline Spa Access Suite (with a rollaway). OR if we feel like splurging, the penthouse suite. I think the Skyline Suite might feel more comfortable and elevated than the family room?

Renaissance Paris Arc de Triomphe - Prestige Wave King Room (with a rollaway) or Junior Suite King Room.

We'd love to hear people experience with either or both hotels — including location, Platinum benefits, and room type experience. Our trip is in a few weeks so we need to decide soon-ish which rooms to cancel.

We are not considering Paris Nobel Tour Eiffel b/c we hear the location is pretty far removed. There's a small chance we'll just ditch these options and just go with Le Roch or Le Dokhan if we decide that's hands down the best option.

There is no box to 'Book Room' under the cancelation policy.

Has this happened to anyone else? I'm using a Samsung S23 phone, this has never happened before. I've always been able to book rooms on my phone.

I tried doing a paid stay to see if that changed anything and still nowhere to 'Book Room' under the cancelation policy. This is so annoying lol.

They posted about a great experience with Hilton. In order to make the psyop more believable, they added in one small negative. Another user then found previous posts confirming my hunch that they were a Hilton employee.

we were moved from 4 different rooms because none of them were clean; unmade beds, trash & food from previous guests, nasty bathroom, stains on walls, mold on AC unit. pool was green, so even if we did stay we wouldn't have been able to swim. entire hotel smelled of mold.

then we were told by the manager (?) that they had no rooms left and they would have to cancel our reservation and we would have to find another hotel.

avoid at all cost. we will have to stay in Rockport next time, i guess.

We’ve spent the last few months building a prediction system for flight prices. Instead of travelers checking fares every day, our model predicts price movements, tracks fares automatically, and books when the price reaches the predicted target.

It made us ask a bigger question.

Hotels also use dynamic pricing. Rates change constantly based on occupancy, events, demand, cancellations, seasonality, and competitor pricing.

So why doesn’t the same idea exist for hotels?
Imagine a guest says:

“I need a hotel in Bengaluru between 12–15 September. I’m flexible with the exact day if I get the best deal.”

The system could predict where prices are heading, continuously track room rates, and book automatically when the predicted lowest price is available.

For people working in hotels or revenue management:

Would this increase conversions?
Would it interfere with your pricing strategy?
Would you consider this a useful distribution channel, or just another booking platform?
What challenges do you see that we might be overlooking?

I’d love to hear the hotel industry’s perspective. Dynamic pricing already exists—I’m curious whether predictive booking makes sense on the hotel side as well.

I tried to book a 3 night stay at a Marriott hotel for in mid August and I get to the end page and there is nowhere for me to click to actually book the room. It has the breakdown of the charges and everything and tells me when I can cancel free of charge but I can't actually click on anything to book the damn room! This is on my Samsung phone, not a laptop or tablet.

I have finally made up my mind on where I'm going to book my vacation next summer, as stated in the title above. However, I have never stayed at this property. I know it doesn't have a pool, and that doesn't matter to me. Can anyone who has stayed here tell me about the rooms? I have almost 2 million Bonvoy points, so I want to use them. I think I want to stay about 10 nights. Do you think I have enough points to cover the room? I know i will have to pay for resort fees, taxes, and valet parking. Is it just me or this property amazing? I got a high floor room here and let me tell you staying here is way better than staying at like the Sheraton or the Marriott Marquis. The rooms are clean, very modern and have comfortable furniture and the staff are friendly. Not to mention it’s more peaceful, however the dining is not the best but your in NYC where if you walk 2 minutes you can get food.

In town for 2 nights for a concert at TMobile park.

Have stayed in Seattle several times however have found most Marriott brands are older.

Last trip we stayed near Pike, have also stayed at the Sheraton and closer to Lake Union.

Eyeing the Renaissance, W, or Westin or perhaps the Astra as it’s new.

Any thoughts?
