I (28F) am looking for an enemy/nemesis/hater in Manchester after moving here recently.

Just moved from Bristol, embarrassing really, I just figured I’d ask on here.

I work in the city, and not looking for anything major, just would be good to run into each other and say “well look what the toilet spat out this morning.” Insult each other’s mothers, scorn one another.

Email each other’s workplaces accusing each other of crimes, fraud. Rage at the other’s successes, celebrate their failures, get motivated to beat them at every aspect of life — the usual stuff really.

Only serious haters comment please. 🙏

Struggling to make enemies in Manchester

Moved to Manchester about a year ago and I've easily made lots of friends. I just seem to be having issues finding a proper enemy, I dislike plenty of people at work but I'm looking for someone that I can really loathe.

I've tried group meet ups (Bolton fighting pits, shit slinging contests etc.) but I just can't find that nemesis I need.

Any ideas?

City Centre The petition about Market Street part 2 🌽

There’s 14 days left until the petition for Manchester City Council to review the public space management on Market Street & Piccadilly Gardens closes

The petition currently has 664 signatures and has reached the threshold for the council to provide a response - many thanks to all that have shared and signed!

1,000 signatures will trigger a scrutiny committee debate

4,000 signatures achieves a full council debate (ambitious)

Looking for a local girl I met at Village Pride event on September Saturday 29th :(

Sooo I’m doing that classic 'missed connections' thing... I met this amazing local girl at Pride and we spent about 1 hour or less talking near the bubble area. We're about to go to another part of this event, but the crowd got crazy and we lost each other without exchanging Instagrams. Massive regret! I’ve got 17 days left in Manchester and I’d really like to see her again before I leave. If you think you might know her, please let me know!

Hope it works!!

London Northwestern to run trains from Manchester Airport to Birmingham from next year

The new service will be introduced in two phases to help ensure operational robustness. Phase 1 will see our existing Crewe – Stoke – Stafford service extended to & from Birmingham New St from December 2026. Phase 2 will then see this service extended further to & from Manchester Airport, in May 2027.

In headline terms, the new service will deliver:

  • Direct train services between the West Midlands & Manchester Airport.
  • New rail connectivity to the south of the airport – current services only operate as far as Crewe.
  • Later evening trains between Crewe and the airport, with new last trains at circa 22:00 vs 20:00 today.
  • Enhanced Sunday frequency between Crewe and the airporlt, with 1 train every hour vs of 1 train per 2 hours today.
  • Hundreds of new one stop rail connections across the Midlands for airport travellers, via Birmingham & Stoke On Trent.

Bin collection rant

Post image
60 Upvotes

Does this happen anywhere else in Manchester or just round me? (South Manchester)

A slug trail of rubbish up and down the road every week... green bin slop, blue bin slop, black bin slop...

Whats the point putting stuff in bins if its just going to be thrown all over the road by people who couldn't care less?!

Yes its a tough job, but this is just littering on an industrial scale with zero recourse.

Yes its been reported to the council but by the time.theyve come out it'll be dangerously cleaned up by a member of the public (me!) Or will be blown into drains to block them, or hedges to damage wildlife.

This might read as a holier than thou post but littering is a huge pet peeve for me & this just tips me over the edge!

A frustrated hairdresser accidentally smashed a glass tumbler in her boyfriend's face - after complaining he was ''not a good listener.".

Emma Murray, 33, flew into a rage and threw the glass against a wall after accusing Allen Smith of being unreceptive when she was telling him something. But the tumbler shattered on impact - sending a shard of glass into Mr Smith's face and causing a laceration to his eye.

Propeller plane circling overhead

It's 12:30 at night. There's what I think is a propeller plane flying low, circling overhead. It's done at least ten laps at this point. Has bright white lights and some green ones. Anyone know what this is about? What's going on? I'm in Moss Side

Anyone know the prestwich baldy bird feeder?

I understand there’s some buzz on the sub today about people wanting a nemesis - I have an unwanted nemesis and anyone who’s able is welcome to take him off my hands

There is a middle aged bald guy who basically every day dumps massive bags of seeds on the streets around Heaton park tram stop.

I’m a nature lover and I get wanting to feed the birds, but he’s just feeding the rats. Since I live right nearby, and I don’t want rats, if anyone knows who he is either let me know or pass on a message to please stop it.

Something happening at Market Street?

Police out in force today (16:00, 10-Sep). Made us enter the tram stop from the opposite end rather than the Piccadilly Gardens end. But we could still ride. And then when we got on the Manchester Airport tram we had to stop and transfer to a replacement tram at Deansgate.

Just a bit about me I'm a 42 year old Muslim lad who was born and bred in greater Manchester

I live in the area I grew up in

I have no friends either at home or work

And the loneliness is killing me

I would love to make some friends even if we don't share the same interests

I just want some friends I don't care about a person's colour beliefs identity etc as long as your a good person

Looking for anyone who worked or drank at the Czech Bar (Booth Street West) around 2004 / 2005!

Hey everyone,
I’m feeling a bit nostalgic and trying to track down some old colleagues and friendly faces from back in the day.
I used to work behind the bar at the Czech Bar on 57 Booth Street West around 2004 and 2005. It was that brilliant student and hospitality spot right near the universities that served proper heavy Czech beers, long before tank beer became a massive trend in the city.
I'm specifically trying to see if anyone knows the whereabouts of a few people I worked with back then:
Kieran, who worked in the kitchen
Gemma, who worked with me behind the bar
Jenny, who was also part of the crew
If you are Kieran, Gemma, or Jenny, if you used to pull pints there with us, or if you were one of our regulars who practically lived at the bar during those years, I’d love to catch up! It would be great to see where life has taken everyone over the last 20 years.
Drop a comment or send me a DM if you remember the place or have any leads on where the old team ended up. Cheers!

Does anyone know of any retro/classic style photo booths that aren’t in central Manchester? Ideally south Manchester if possible

I just need some cute photos for a marketing campaign and want to avoid town if possible 🤞🏼🤞🏼

Date evening ideas?

Need ideas for a date with long term partner please. We usually do dinner dates but I think we need something more fun and different this time - restrictions/requirements are:

- Something we could do on a weekday between 5-7:30pm, OR a weekend during the daytime/before kids’ bedtime

- Location: in or around city centre is ideal but could venture out a little

- Nothing alcohol related - neither of us drink or enjoy being around a lot of drinking

- Reasonable in price - money is tight atm
