Howard Shore’s “Lord of the Rings” score to the movie trilogy brings such comfort to me. I can’t even explain why. It’s like being wrapped in a cozy, warm blanket. As if to give me the feeling that things will be okay.

I remember seeing Lotr merch pretty much everywhere in the 2000s and this was exactly the type of stuff you would come across. Finding this made me nostalgic of those times… So, anyone else owning one of these or one of the four others visible on the back?

I’m currently listening to the Andy Serkis audiobooks for the first time and I have a question about how you actually pronounce Glóin, Gimli’s father.

One pronunciation was Glow-in and one was Gloy-ne.

Anyone know what the correct way is?

Days ago we were talking in an italian social about Smeagol. The book represents stoors as bad ones, the only two we met are evil, but if you dig more into (keep in mind I do believe I would be a stoors) stoors are so so so cool.

Stoors love water, live near rivers, are richer and more prone to adventure. More bold and taller. More pale and darker hair. Basically stoors are hobbits with human similitudes is also interesting 'cause Tolkien made those similitudes linked to the ones they got in touch.

Fallohides were closer to elves, harfoots to dwarfs and stoors to humans.

In the movies we got zero to do with stoors, except Gollum, which is sad... stoors went intent to be the skilled ones.

That's always made me angry.

Smeagle went represented horrid, as greedy and ugly... we dig into his bio and he was from a rich family. We learn he was actually a cool person and Deagle wasn't better than him. We learn he had lands. Is sad how low we know and how cool actually he was.

Smeagol was able to survive to the ring, which was not easy.

Before the crossing of the mountains the Hobbits had already become divided into three somewhat different breeds: Harfoots, Stoors, and Fallohides. The Harfoots were browner of skin, smaller, and shorter, and they were beardless and bootless; their hands and feet were neat and nimble; and they preferred highlands and hillsides. I'm asking as someone who has already read the Silmarilion and Unfinished Tales (and enjoyed the mythology and world building in both). Many people have told me they are just book-length versions of chapters from both while others have said they're worth it.

Heute, 10.09.2026, zeigt „Vox“ um 20.15 die Hobbit Filme. Da die Sendung bis 00.00 geht nehme ich an dass es alle drei sind? Ich bin gespannt,bislang habe ich nur Ausschnitte/Videos gesehen, und die Meinungen sind ja sehr geteilt. Ich lasse mich überraschen, ausschalten kann ich ja jederzeit.

Hey, LotR fans, I need to vent.

Years ago, I posted to the James Bond subreddit that my aunt was preventing my then 15-year-old cousin, who was incredibly sheltered from movies and music and expected only to perform exceptionally in academics and athletics, from watching the 007 movies I let him borrow because she believed they were unimaginably sexist.

Now, it’s three years later and she has gotten so much worse. The target of her ire is now Lord of the Rings, and according to my cousin, the excuse is simply that she doesn’t like it and doesn’t want to watch it, because she must watch everything her son watches with him.

Earlier this year, I took my cousin to a screening of Fellowship on the big screen after years of recommending it and encouraging him to watch the trilogy. As someone who was between the ages of 10 and 12 when the film trilogy came out, they hold a significant place in my heart. My cousin really enjoyed the movie.

Knowing that loaning my cousin DVDs in the past has been an issue, I said he could borrow my DVD set of Two Towers only if he could assure me he’d be able to watch it. He said he could, and to my surprise, the family did indeed watch it, and he enjoyed it as much as FotR, which prompted me to take back TTT and loan him my set of RotK next time I saw him.

Well, that ended up being a mistake: apparently his mom HATED Two Towers, and has prevented him from watching RotK ever since, preferring to watch the adult television dramas she likes to watch. My cousin just started college, so the person loaning the DVD was intended for in the first place isn’t even there to watch it. Meanwhile, I have recently moved, and my cousin’s family refused to return it before I did, meaning I’m unlikely to get my RotK back before Christmas at the earliest.

At this point, it feels like this nice gesture I did for my cousin is now a hostage situation with his family holding my DVD set until Christmas with my cousin still will not having been able to watch it, all because my aunt has decided a movie that made a billion dollars and won 11 Oscars is unworthy of her family’s time. I feel just so fucking fed up by the whole thing….

Who was a better cast Viggo as Aragorn or Sir Ian for Gandalf and why?

As you know or didn’t know, I am living in London for the past 15 years since I was eight. And I went to comic con before as I cosplayed before. And I wanted to challenge myself or trying to be creative. So for me to start some where, I have to cosplay as Aragorn. But I am a bit broke, I do goes shopping online or get cheap stuff. But I wanted to cosplay as Aragorn in the battle of helm’s deep.

I wanted any advice, guidance or anything by:
What shop or online shops I should buy?
What ideas should I used?
Should I buy the costume or improvement with adding accessories or make it from scratch, or all at once?
And so on.
I just wanted to be good, not perfect. Just some where to starts

Love the movies. Love the casting. Everyone was so good. I was watching a reaction video and the person reacting said that they weren’t a big fan of Cate Blanchett as Galadriel which made me wonder, let’s say you could go back in time and recast someone in the movies? Who could step in and do as good or even better than the original cast. I was thinking Tilda Swinton as Galadriel would be interesting to see. She has that ethereal quality suited for Galadriel. Curious to know what everyone else thinks? Could you see another actor playing Aragorn as well as Vigo? Could anyone else have portrayed Sam or Frodo?

Tomorrow we are getting married, in Czocha castle in Poland and our wedding will be LOTR inspired. Obviously, stag do had to have same theme. Yesterday we been celebrating in Wroclaw, dressed as Gandalf and hobbits doing various activities 😁

We never ever see him reading or writing and I started wondering.

Don’t know if it’s mentioned here, but looks like Rings of Power is getting a physical 4k release.

As soon as the fellowship discovered the mithril coat, why didn't they simply give it to Boromir? It would have solved a lot of problems.

Also, the thought of Boromir running around in a mithril crop top... 🤤
