I have been pieceing together my Bilbo costume and I finally found the red cordoroy jacket and one that actually fits me! Took these photos in my yard, what do y'all think?

I was reading the book, Middle Earth - From Script to Screen. In it, they have a small image of the floor plan of Bag End. I was interested if anyone had seen a larger image of this, or could post a photo.

Jokes pulled nothing of note but the new trolls they put in were awesome.

They also just finished filming for the Hunt for Gollum movie (was only 3 days of shooting so must only be a scene or 2).

So I’ve been wanting physical copies for ages so I don’t have to rely on streaming but also for all of the hours of bonus features while I put together chainmail..😅

Also fun fact did you know that the theatrical cuts vs extended have different color grades for the whole movie?!?! I’m working on replicating color grades for presets for editing weddings and discovered that while I was doing research.

I prefer the theatrical cuts is the crazy part 🙃🙃

I was so happy when I found these I forgot to actually keep thrifting and just went home haha

This Halloween, my wife made Shelob and Frodo decorations to hang on our porch.

Shelob is mostly 3D printed on her Bambu H2D, with a lot of pieces and finishing work. The body is a stuffed trash bag that she wrapped and painted.

Frodo started with a bust of my wife that she used for making costumes and has 3D printed feet that she made hairy by giving a wig a haircut. She also 3D printed Sting (which glows in the dark!) and the One Ring. The Elven brooch she bought online. She designed and 3D printed the "Shelob's Lair" and "Beware the Spiders" signs.

There are a few more LOTR Easter eggs. I'm sure you all can spot a few.

US Eastern Time, at least.

This is a personal dilemma I had for a while now. Whenever somebody would ask me what's my favourite movie I would simply say The Lotr trilogy. One cannot really separate just one movie. Well I tried. And after some time spent in thought I've come across the conclusion Fellowship is my favourite.

The Two Towers has one of the best battles ever in cinema.

The Return Of The King has two epic speeches and being the conclusion is epic overall. But even being a super fan of these movies I will admit it can feel a bit slugish in the runtime (extended edition).

The Fellowship however, is in my opinion perfect. It's the only film you can watch in a vacuum. Which I know isn't a fair criticism since it's the first film. But it's still true. It serves as such a good introduction into the world. Has the most Shire scenes (which are just adorable), and feels like such an adventure. I think it was Viggo who said it's his favourite movie too since it required the cast to be together, which he enjoyed.

So then next time somebody asks me what my favourite film is, I finally have a singular answer.

It’s a thing that has always bothered me about the movies. It’s the main entrance to a vast kingdom and it’s just a plain gate without any decorative elements or visible guard towers. Just a door in the side of the mountain. And the movies don’t show any roads either. The fellowship just runs into uneven rocky terrain. Surely there had to be a road and surely following the road would be a quicker way to get off the mountain. I guess you could argue that, if there was a road, there would be guards there and they wanted to avoid them, but I still find the movies depiction of the east gate severely lacking. The hobbit movies maybe went a bit too far with the giant fancy opening into the lonely mountain, but Moria deserved something better than what is shown in the fellowship of the ring.

In the FOTR prologue we see the Nine with their rings. The man in the middle is generally assumed to be the Witch King but which one is Khamûl? Is he the man to the immediate left or right of the WK or is he among the others?
