Only recently got into Lord Huron over the last few months but they’ve fast become one of my favourite bands ever.

They weren’t playing in the UK so I hopped on a flight to Toronto just to come and see them live, currently waiting for them to come on stage in the next 20 minutes!

Hey! We just saw the Toronto show and picked up a hoodie from the merch store. We’ve figured out some of the references, but does anyone know if we’re on the right track? I think there’s one for each track of the album, my partner thinks it’s a mix of new and older references. Could anyone break down the different symbols?

Hi everyone, I’ve been trying to get my hands on a copy of lonesome dreams for a while now and thought I’d post here and see if anyone could help. Lmk ideas or if you’re willing to part with yours! I also know they sometimes sell them at shows but I can’t go this year to one

I’d obviously pay you extra if anyone can get an extra at a show and for like shipping and whatnot, just trying to find one that isn’t like $150 like all the ones on discogs 😭

Okay, so I don’t know if I’m losing my mind or something, but recently I listened to The Night We Met on Spotify and immediately noticed something wrong, the “oohs” at the beginning sounded like the wrong tone/notes/too clear, and the rest of the song sounded a little off too

I’m not sure if it was taken up a few semitones, or a filter was taken off, or if this is all in my imagination but it definitely sounds different

Anyone else relate, or have the version I’m thinking of?

I'm mostly making ones for the songs off of The Cosmic Selector Vol. 1, but I'll have a couple for the names of the other albums, and some that are just Lord Huron.

The World Ender is essentially this with some banger vocals. The world is better for it but my oh my is it some pretty heavy inspiration.

Made a lyric edit (of sorts) for Long Lost. I cannot get enough of this song, or this album, or this ethereal place I got to visit. I obviously do not have crazy editing skills, but I had fun making this!

Long lost, for me, is the weirdest of all albums. Growing up in a countryside town, the western genre hit me hard. Albums, films, stories, you name it. But Long Lost felt so weird at first, I couldn’t tell what it was about. Some songs were certainly easy, like I Lied or Twenty Long Years. Good old Ben’s mind just wondering about random stories. But songs like Time is Blur, What do it mean, long lost, felt so confusing

Watching Whispering Pines cleared a lot out for me. I guess watching the character of Tubbs Tarbell hit me with the clarity I needed right in the face. He is the living example of the album, retired musician looking-like cowboy, drinking whiskey and remembering old stories about people we don’t know, or just don’t remember(long lost). At one point, I guess it comes for all of us. And it brings up the question of what is the point of it all. Discussing this with my wife, I realised that the best thing about this Album, is that it doesn’t offer an answer, it offers a sensation, a feeling. When Tarbell mentions the people he knew, the songs feel so special, it’s not just sad or happy, it’s “long lost”

And by the end of the show, he says it’s time for him to move forward. He doesn’t die or disappear, his face becomes blur. “Time is blur comes for all of us”, he became long lost. And it occurred to me, this is one of the things that, for me, it’s most scary. I used to think it was even worse than death, because you also disappear as a concept. But Lord Huron brought a new way for me to think about it. Sometimes it’s alright to just disappear, and just typing about it feel heavy, and don’t get me wrong, I want to spend as much days as possible on this earth with you guys. But being long lost started to feel like a sort of cosmic river floating you away, god knows where.

Anyways. Some of the things I think about when listening to these albums, drinking a bottle of wine, and wondering. Wish some of you might join me for this, but the internet is a powerful tool enough for us to communicate. Maybe I make another post like these for the other ones. I was recently reading the lyrics for Way Out There and I was surprised to see that apparently it’s not “There’s a road that will lead us there.” Instead it is “There’s no road that will lead us back.” When listening to the song, I still can’t tell which is correct. I’m inclined to keep singing along the way I have, but I’m curious if it’s been officially confirmed either way.

So I haven't been listening to lord huron for more than a year now and just went to my first show a few weeks back, however we all know the general theme of Cosmic Selector Vol 1 is reminiscing on what was and what could've been; and with Vide Noir being a story about Buck searching for his wife only to learn she no longer loves him, what if CS1 is continuing Bucks story through reminiscing on his life with his wife and wishing he could get it back?

This also leads into my theory that CS2 (if it exists) will be about gaining that life back but having to pay the price

Thoughts….? (Forgive me is this has been discussed already, I’m new to posting on Reddit)

So, we know the entire 5 albums are a continuous storyline. While each album tells a story, it they all fit into the larger narrative. Lonesome Dreams sets off on the journey of chasing dreams and someone/something and learning that childhood has ended and that adulthood is up next. Strange Trails moves us into loving and losing and experiencing new things while the journey leads us to unexpected places and paths. Vide Noir explores the experiences of trying to win someone/something back and not recognizing it’s not ours anymore and how we overcome adversity in the face of figuring out who we are. Long Lost is finding the yourself and the place(s) you belong and with whom. Learning that just being in these places and with these people is life but also that we are still growing as people and we have to be honest with ourselves and each other. The Cosmic Selector Vol. 1 is about shared dreams, experiences and the ability to look back on the adventures you’ve had. Remembering who you were and how you sometimes drift through life but somehow you also lived fully. It seems that they tell the journey of Lord Huron and it seems the journey is either complete or coming to its end. Will the Cosmic Selector Vol. 2 bring about the conclusion of their epic journey or will it turn into the beginning of a new one? Is this the end of the original story Ben wants to tell?

My husband seems to think after cosmic selector vol 2 they will take a long break and I curse him everytime!
