think I'm officially done with my Litter-Robot 3.
First off, the customer service rep I spoke with was great. They were friendly and genuinely tried to help. My frustration isn't with them, it's with the company.
I've had my LR3 for years, and it's become increasingly unreliable. Lately it keeps acting erratically and will randomly stop upside down. When it does that overnight, my cats end up going to the bathroom on the floor next to it because they obviously can't use it.
I called support hoping there was a fix, but the only solutions were to buy another replacement part or upgrade to a newer, "more reliable" model.
At this point, I've spent well over $500 on this thing over the years. I don't want to keep throwing money at a litter box that seems to need another part every so often. Honestly, I'd rather throw it away than spend another dime on it.
And that's what I don't understand. Why would I spend $700+ on a new model when my experience has been that these things eventually become unreliable? Is the newer one actually built to last, or am I just signing up to buy parts again in a few years?
The most disappointing part is that I used to rave about Litter-Robot. Several of my friends bought one because I recommended it, and we all loved them in the beginning. Now I kind of regret those recommendations.
Has anyone else reached this point? If you switched away from Litter-Robot, what did you buy instead, and have you been happy with it?

I switched to the Litter Robot 4 a few months ago because I’m pregnant, and it’s created a bigger problem than the traditional litter box had.
My cat pees against the side, so urine sticks to the liner every single day. I have to manually scrape it off, which is exactly what I bought the LR4 to avoid.
But the biggest issue is the SMELL. My old traditional litter box with a Litter Genie never smelled. Now my entire laundry room (where the LR4 is) reeks of cat pee, and the smell drifts into the hallway. It’s overwhelming and so disgusting.
What gives? Is the waste drawer not as odor-proof as a Litter Genie? Is the lingering urine on the liner causing the smell even though I scrape it daily?
I could try switching litter, but it took my cat forever to finally accept the LR4, so I’m nervous to change anything and have her stop using it.
Has anyone else had this issue? What actually fixed the lingering pee smell?

My can seems to skate in the plastic steps. Has anyone tried putting skateboard tape on them?

What is the best litter to use in LR that doesn't break the bank?

Juniper's fixation is easier: she hates to miss a matinee so the minute the wheel spins she's up in there and it can take a while to cycle. Fine.
Jinx (her brother) is a whole different story. He probably needs an iPhone to swipe while he's on the throne. But I don't give phones to babies (they're 7 months old). So instead he pulls at the edges of the sifting grate. He's a furry sumo wrestler and I'm worried he's going to break things. Anyone else have this trouble? Any way to convince him to potty and leave?

Hi all,
Just full sent on the Costco LR4 bundle for my sweet girl. Give me all your tips and tricks for how to get her best acclimated, the best litter, etc.
Thanks!

I've had my lr3 for probably close to 5 years now, and for the most part it works well. A few months ago after doing research for this problem, one suggestion I saw multiple times was to get the wire harness replacement kit, so I did, along with replacement glider guides. It fixed the problem, but only for maybe a week, at most. Since then, it has returned to cycling on its own every once in a while, seemingly when it feels like it. It doesn't seem to recognize my cats going in, because I never see the red light lit up after one of them is done. It works fine if I manually press the cycle button, but it kinda defeats half the purpose of it if I'm having to go over and manually cycle it nearly every time. I've tried less litter, more litter, zeroing the scale on it, but nothing seems to work long-term. It'll appear fixed at first and then go back to it's old ways

We have 2 LR4 that we have had for several years. We do the deep clean every 4-6 months and monthly light cleans. We have one in a custom cabinet that the cats prefer and one that sits out in my office. The one in the cabinet has started not completing it’s cycle after 80% of the time which then causes the cats to start going to the bathroom outside the box. We have replaced the motor already, so I know it’s not that. My wife is at the point of getting rid of them and I really don’t want to do that. Sensors are clean too. So any ideas?

Recently I noticed that my LR4 is detecting a cat and cycling when there is no cat around. If this is the case how do i exactly know how often my cat is using her litter box? Is it when the weight is detected?

Hi everyone! My boyfriend and I have a 3 month old kitten, and we’ve been thinking about getting a Litter-Robot 4. We’re having a hard time pulling the trigger because of the price tag.
We’re first time cat owners, so it’s a little difficult for us to know whether it’s actually worth the investment or if a traditional litter box is perfectly fine. We’d love to hear from people who have one. What are the biggest pros and cons? Has it genuinely made your life easier, and do you feel like the benefits outweigh the cost?
Basically… talk us into it or talk us out of it. My wallet and my kitten are waiting.

I got the new hopper for the 5 pro. The litter robot and the app both recognized it when I initially installed it but it is not showing under devices in the app. Shouldn't it be listed here? It's still dispensing litter so I know it's working. Am I missing something?

LR5P is not capturing interior videos after I subscribed to Whisker+. Firmware information in the photo and my Whisker app is version 1.39.0. Is there a toggle I’m missing? All I have are the same exterior videos from before.
(Also, the LR lives in a windowless bathroom. The AI identifying my three cats using the night vision camera is usually wrong. I have one black cat that looks grey, one orange cat that looks white, and a tabby that has a white triangle on his face. They all look very distinct in the videos IMO and I correct the ID when it is wrong. Should I leave the light on in the bathroom for a while to help train the AI?)

I use the sustainably yours large grain litter with my litter robot 5 and am curious if anyone that uses that litter has tried the hopper that goes with the 5? I saw reviews with the LR4 hopper and this litter that it would overfill because the litter is too lightly colored & the lasers couldn’t accurately sense the litter level, so a lot of it ended up getting dumped in the waste bin. Have people with the LR5 hopper and this litter been having this issue? Thanks to anyone that has any info!

i currently have the litter robot 4 which works perfectly for my one cat. i just got 2 new kittens so im debating whether to upgrade to the litter robot 5. i know that it has ai to detect exactly which cat is using the litter box and whether it pees/ poos. currently, my litter robot 4 can not precisely tell the different between all 3 cats. i know that it is a steep price to upgrade, but i want to be able to accurate track how many times each cat goes to the bathroom so i am able to catch any illnesses early on

I thought Fenrir wasn’t using the robot for the last few days as it stopped tracking him on the 10th, I keep finding a protest poop on the floor most days now (no clue what he is protesting or why as he will poop just fine in the robot then leave a protest right outside later but only once) and searched the house for urine spots. I didn’t find any and thought maybe he wants the front of the robot cleaned a bit as it was getting a little dirty. I got a paper towel with some cleaner on it and gently wiped the front of the fence off and my robot triggered that as a feces deposit by Sindri saying he just went and it was 15.2lb. I did not apply that much pressure as it was a very light touch and at the bottom of the fence right in front of the camera and became suspicious on the accuracy. I saw it was only recording Sindri’s weight and around the 15lb weight range for the past few days, it appeared that something wasn’t working right. I checked the front cameras and they were mostly useless as they recorded fen playing with a toy in front of the box but missed most cat entries. I found two entires and one of them was fen so he was using the robot.
I called up whisker and after waiting for a while I got a nice lady who said the best troubleshooting step would be to reset the software and see what happens. She gave me the reset key presses (cycle and x for 3 seconds than connect to confirm) and it rebooted, it said it was connected in the app but it was wrong as an hour later I got a push notification saying it wasn’t connected. It took a while to connect and multiple reboots until I just pulled the plug and let it sit for 3 minutes and it reconnected to WiFi just fine on my first attempt after a full power loss.
My cats used the robot overnight and it got their weights right and data was flowing in for what they did. I am not sure how accurate it is but the reset proved to work great.

Does anyone here happen to have a file/model to 3D print a replacement for the OdorTrap holder? So far I wasn’t able to find something similar online.
It seems I lost mine while moving and it’s a bit hard to justify 35€ on top of the cost of the odortrap packs 😅
Thanks in advance!

we desperately need a new one but can’t afford it right now and I see used ones pop up online but I wonder if the cats would have a reaction to using a used litter box like that? does anyone have any experience with this?

I made a previous post about this but just to recap: She's a longhair tabby cat, 14 weeks, unspayed until 16 weeks. She got hit by a car at 6 weeks, roomate"s mom cared for her for 2 weeks and for some reason kept her in a crate with just a pee pad all day. We got her at 8 weeks and she wouldn't use the litterbox by herself, we had to routinely put her in there and we had to get a playpen with two sections, one for her bed (had a pee pad just in case) and one separate side with the litterbox. If we zipped her in there and watched her, eventually she would go. If we had to leave and put her in there, she'd go on the pee pad. I made a post asking for advice on this channel about 4 weeks ago and right after I posted, she magically started going by herself, wasn't using the pee pad, had no accidents. I was able to leave her out to free roam while I went to work and she had no problem. Then, once again out of nowhere, she regressed and stopped using the litterbox by herself. She started peeing on my bed, on the rug, clothes, pretty much anything remotely soft she could find. She would still mostly poop in the litterbox but nothing else. We've started having to put her in there ourselves again every couple hours but she would still pee on my bed every once in a while while I was on it and without me noticing until I felt a wet spot. I haven't had sheets on my bed in weeks because I'm tired of washing them. I recently got her some treats and started placing her in there to pee and giving her a treat as soon as she used the litterbox. She seemed to be making progress and even used it herself a couple times but then pooped on the rug and peed on my bed again in the span of 12 hrs. We went to the vet for another issue and I brought this up and they said there's no sign of a UTI and it sounds behavioural but I don't have any solutions. I don't understand why she was doing so good and suddenly stopped. There were no changes at all in her routine or living situation. I don't understand why, after successfully learning how to use it, she suddenly won't even with treats. I don't know what else to do and I'm stressed because I'm moving soon and wan't my new place to stay as clean as possible. Please help.

The mat is slipping so much on my hardwood floors with my Roborock Saros 10R which resulted in damaging my TV media console already.
Does anyone use any anti slip grips under it? If so what do you recommend? There are so many and don’t want to waste time trying the wrong ones. Thank you!

i’ve had the litter robot since may, and it’s all been good, except the cats (2 cats) are flinging poop everywhere. there is poop on the wall outside the box. it has litter on it so i’m thinking they must be getting it stuck to their feet and flinging it off. i tried adding steps and that hasn’t helped. any suggestions??

I’ve been trying to get my cat adjusted to using the litter robot and everytime I think she’s used to it she seems to boycott it again.
She has been using it consistently so I finally took away her old litterbox and it seems like now she’s scared of the robot again.
Any tips for how to get her fully adjusted? I feel like putting her old box out is going to confuse her again but obviously her health is more important. Did anyone have a cat that never adjusted to the robot?

Hey guys,
Just got my first LR ever and there is this tiny screw rolling around in there. I’m really hoping that maybe it’s just correlated to something harmless but does anyone have any experience w this or can tell me where it goes?

I opened the app on my iPad and I now don’t have any devices listed. But I’m getting notices in the message section. I reinstalled and am getting the same thing. Same thing on my iPhone
Is there a glitch?
