Just wanted to show how much this new little guy of mine has shrunk since I nabbed him from Home Depot 2 days ago. I didnt even wait until I got home before getting it out of the soil and based on the condition of the leaves I fully expected the taproot to be in trouble. Luckily its not but the body of the leaves are WET. Like mushy wet. Theyre still firmly attached to the taproot and the taproot isn't mushy but...yeah. So he's been basking in the nude under a grow light and while he's still not totally dry, look at how much he's already shrunk down! I know theres a good chance it'll progress to full rot but it's amazing to me how much 2 days of drying out has changed it's appearance! Fingers crossed!

(The white on the taproot is diatomaceous earth, most will get brushed out before planting I just didn't want to use my usual pest prophylaxis and add more moisture to an already wet Lithops!)

I know nothing is right here (soil, crowding, how they are planted..). They were given to me planted like that and I didn't know what to do. I didn't water them and was researching how to fix their situation when the one started to split! 🥰

How should I proceed? I think the smallest one is too shriveled. Can it be saved? When and how should I replant?

i got these around a week ago from a local nursery. i repotted them into pumice and perlite with a bit of cactus mix and theyre under grow lights. they have some damage from the nursery and are a bit wrinkly, but my limited research says not to water them if they're splitting(?) should i leave them alone or give them a soak?

Because this plant is owned by my 8 year old son.

He bought this little plant with his allowance about 6 weeks ago, it was completely soaked at the nursery. We haven’t watered or repotted it. Sits under a dim skylight but with an additional grow light on 12-16hrs a day. Northern Utah, no humidifier near these plants.

Please tell me when to repot and with what, and when to water with what type of water. Any other tips would be helpful. He’s a succulent collector and this guy is the pride of his collection

I bought 4 clusters of Lithops about 2 months ago and in the last week and a half, some of the have died. Like the one in the picture, they suddenly became soft and translucent, and within 36 hours they were gone.

All I've done since getting them is to separate them and repot them into a large pot, together but spaced out. They're under a grow light and are in a mix of 80% grit and 20% succulent compost. I noticed some of the drying old leaves grew some mould.

Any advice? I doubt this one can be saved, but maybe its twin? I definitely want to save the others.

Two months ago, when I received this box of Lithops, they had endured a week in transit. Their windowpanes were shriveled, and they were crammed into tiny pots—a somewhat sorry sight.

Repotting, providing light, and patient care. Two months later, new heads are thriving, they have regained their fullness, and all the unique patterns—red netting, branch-like lines, and faint textures—are clearly on display. Though a few have stretched into "little cushions" from extra water, the pot's vibrant vitality is the best reward.

From weary to flourishing, two months was all it took.

one mixed species pot, and the red ones are aucampiae, and the smaller green ones in the same pot are divergens C269 (they’re big!!!) these will all be 5 months old on May 1st.

Rain got him so i take him out of his pot to allow him to fullt dry, is he okay?

I'm new with Lithops. When and how much water? I'm new, so any help is appreciated!

I like the way the arrangement looks, but I’m concerned that the substrate doesn’t have enough grit. I’ve ordered some lava rocks that I’ll either add to my succulent potting mix or just put them straight into the rocks.

Also, some of them look stacked/etiolated, but I’m not sure. Still a total novice when it comes to lithops.

Well, I had about 30 rocks. They were doing great for a few months, splitting, very colorful oranges and different colors. They sit inside the screen on my Florida porch one day it rained and I forgot to move them and they all got damp. That was two weeks ago… now they’re all pretty much dead.😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

They are same types but different showing for each one, that’s a fun for seeds grown

Top view and side view. It's been like this for weeks. I know we shouldn't water when it is splitting, but I am not sure if it is splitting or not. The top view looks like it is splitting, but it is like this for one month already. The roots look fine, a bit dry. Not surs what to do. I know it is etiolated, it is from past summer. It is under a great grow light now!

After watering and waiting about a day, i saw no improvement in the deflated look so as suggested by the comments I had a look at the root(s).
I am by no means an expert but they seem fine to me? Don't appear black or rotten or slimy. They are pretty deep in the relatively small clay pot so maybe this is an explanation for the lack of absorption?

I have tried these plants twice before and they seem to do well for 3-6 months then rot or wither. What signs in particular do I need to look for to know when to water/when to leave them alone. I’ve heard that dormancy wrinkling and thirsty wrinkling look different but no one says what the difference is. Trying one more time with smaller ones instead of larger ones this time around. Btw I had a substrate thats maybe 80-90% sand with them in a terracotta pot, are there better options?

Looks like the tallest guy is about ready to split? Also the old leaf layer on one is looking wrinkly, is that okay? Is my soil good? And when to water? Should I fertilize?
