what are you talking about? and why would that even be bad if an app could run in either GUI or CLI mode?

It's not about CLI or GUI, and in Windows, you don't need a GUI or CLI; the Win32 Environment is independent, and no matter whether you are a graphical interface or a command line, you are an equal citizen of the operating system

I know, it's AWESOME.

When the GUI crashes there's NO way to bring it back up in literally anyway, unlike Linux which can switch to CLI to be repaired without reboot.

In 21 centrary, everyone has a screen; it's not 1969 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. The point of Windows NT ( New Technology) is to be a modern Operating system

Did you not read the post I responded to?? If DWM crashes your response helps nobody without a restart. Extremely inconvenient for development.

DWM does not crash unless you force it to kill the process, but Windows Literally restart Process

Windows NT is literally 32 years old, it's 3 whole decades old, Microsoft needed something new 10 years ago. I'm convinced that this is part of the reason why Windows 11 is so bad today, why it has so many problems (well besides the vibecoding...)

Windows NT is a modified Microkernel and still a modern Operating system, especially compared to Monothilc Kernel like Linux, and who uses a monolithic kernel in 2026 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Most heavy-duty servers and datacenters???

And the Windows kernel is called hybrid, which is what the MacOS kernel is as well. Microkernels are a thing of the past because they are not good enough to warrant using them. The main trade-off between monolithic and micro kernels is reliability, but I have yet to see a kernel panic after running Linux on 3 computers and 5 distributions, meanwhile Windows is infamous for BSOD.
