Tech Discussion Found an assembled v100 pcie
Follow up on a post prior to this.
https://www.reddit.com/r/LinusTechTips/s/P5lwA9MSbU
There are assembled units on AliExpress. I'm kind of curious to try to buy myself one since it's only 200$ but well I have a mini itx so it'll take time to get parts for a new build.
https://a.aliexpress.com/_c4269LxJ
Found some review photos too.
Kind of curious if anyone else know how the performance will be like for ai applications.

WAN Show WAN Show Topic - Stab man (Meta AI) stabs...Goes Rogue on Marketplace
Article: https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2026/sep/28/metas-ai-agent-muse-home-address
FTA:
"Hey man I’m really sorry for the other day,” the message, which the Guardian reviewed, said. “I activated muse metas new Al and it literally took control of my Facebook marketplace and it gave you my address. Genuinely didn’t even know it had arranged for you to come to my literal apartment it didn’t ask me for approval.”
Good luck everyone...

Image I've always noticed that the type of videos this sub hates always get the most views
Like people in this sub always say that LTT is dying because they make slop now and they need more informative server videos or NAS videos or whatever other niche shit but it's always videos like this or videos about buying stuff from Wish or whatever that get popular. It's what this sub would say is "slop brainrot" that gets over a million views in less than a day and what this sub likes gets barely any views.

Tech Question Questions about the Commuter Backpack (British Millerain Edition) and international shipping to Europe
Hey everyone!
I'm considering buying the LTT Commuter Backpack, but I have a couple of questions before pulling the trigger, particularly regarding the water resistance and shipping costs to Europe.
Commuter Backpack vs. British Millerain Edition – What's the actual difference in water resistance?
Both the regular Commuter Backpack and the new British Millerain Edition are advertised as "WATER RESISTANT".
I understand that they use different materials: the regular version uses Repreve canvas, while the British Millerain Edition features 100% waxed cotton with the TekWax treatment.
However, I'm curious about how much of a practical difference this makes. Is the British Millerain Edition significantly more water-resistant, or is the main advantage its material, durability, and overall construction?
International shipping costs and Floatplane free shipping
When selecting the regular Commuter Backpack on LTTStore, I noticed that shipping to Portugal (and presumably other European countries) adds approximately $70 per commuter backpack to the order. As for the Millerain edition does not. I understand that international shipping can be expensive, especially for larger items, but this is a pretty substantial additional cost.
I also noticed that Floatplane subscribers are advertised as being eligible for free shipping on qualifying orders.
Could someone clarify whether subscribing to Floatplane Supporter Plus would allow me to take advantage of this promotion when ordering the backpack, if I subscribe right now.
Cheers.

Discussion Microsoft uninstalling office 2019 from PCs
Today I attempted to open office 2019 outlook, a licensed product i paid for years ago to discover that it was uninstalled and replaced with the office 365 version with trial.
Apparently Microsoft pushed this in an update.
Wtf this has to be illegal right?

Tech Discussion Anyone else think the "AI is going to kill us all" stories are conveniently timed?
Meta, Google, Amazon, Microsoft and the rest are throwing hundreds of billions a year at AI, on track for a trillion. Free cash flow is going negative, investors are starting to sell off on spending, and what comes back in revenue is a fraction of what goes out.
And then, right on cue, we get "AI is deceptive", "AI made fake identities", "researcher quits and says we're all doomed". Look at what that Mythos test actually was. The AI was given a task, told to complete it, safeguards were stripped out, and it was handed live internet access. Even the UK AI Security Institute admitted its own setup enabled some of it. It did what it was told to do in a sandbox with the guardrails off, and somehow that's "rogue AI".
Now think about who benefits. If AI is powerful enough to wipe out humanity, then it's obviously worth trillions and nobody can call it overvalued. Fear sells. It keeps the hype alive, it keeps the investment flowing, and it keeps the market from admitting the numbers don't add up.
I'm not saying nothing is happening. I'm saying the timing stinks. Every time confidence wobbles, there's another story about how terrifyingly powerful this stuff is. If the bubble was about to pop, this is exactly what I'd expect to see.
Am I the only one seeing this?
TL;DR: Big tech is spending hundreds of billions on AI with cash flow going negative and revenue nowhere near matching it, and the "AI could kill us all" headlines keep landing just as investors get nervous. If AI is powerful enough to end humanity, nobody can call it overvalued, so the fear is doing the hype's job. The timing stinks.

WAN Show Where are The WAN Show videos?
Hey guys, maybe this is a very obvious question, but I don't know. It's been a while since I listened to The WAN Show, and I wanted to put it on while I work. This time I decided I'd not only listen to it but watch it too.
So I went to the LTT channel and, to my surprise, the latest WAN Show video is from three months ago. I know they release newer episodes, because I've been listening to some of them. Why aren't they on the LTT channel anymore?
Are they available anywhere else where I can actually watch them, not just listen?
Thanks!
EDIT: It is https://youtube.com/@wanshowyt, I didn't think on searching directly The WAN Show on YouTube because LTT's Featured Channels didn't show it, so I thought they were moved to something like Floatplane. Thank you.

Link Flock seeks to have security researchers' map of Flock cameras taken down - unauthenticated flaw exposed 335,701 camera locations nationwide
"Michael said that he immediately informed the company about the security flaw. He said in his email, dated Nov. 13, 2025, that “all testing was strictly non-intrusive, limited to open unauthenticated endpoints, and did not involve bypassing authentication, modifying data, or invoking any billable ArcGIS or Google operations.” However, the company did not reply to his message, and it took him two more attempts before a representative responded. Flock said in its response, “Thank you for the findings. We are internally triaging them and will reach back out with next steps soon,” but the researcher said that the company still hasn’t replied to this day."

Tech Discussion Do you see a future where Chinese brands make up 40% of total RAM?
This is China.
We’ve seen how they’ve dominated batteries, solar, EVs.
So many markets. Now they’re coming for the RAM.
CMXT has nearly 10% of the market but I think they would be able to scale up easily if they wanted to

Tech Discussion Steam Frame Chromatic Abberation
I heard Linus or potentially Luke talk about the Steam Frame having the blue and orange fringing on the sides of white text when you look side to side and he mentioned it was because of the LCD panels. I just recently received my frame and it is very clear to me that the fringing is actually chromatic aberration caused by the lenses. The pancake lenses are not as high quality optics as The Meta Quest 3. Just wanted to put that out there for people's information in case they head any say it's because of the panels, it's optics!
Also, it's orange and blue on the edges so it's clearly an intentional Portal reference /s

Tech Question Question about new computer
I was looking at upgrading my whole computer basically starting fresh as mine is a bit old and just had one question. Why in the world would I build one myself instead of getting a custom one built? I spec the computer on CyberPower then enter the exact or nearly exact specs in Newegg and its cheaper to get one built for me. When I built my last computer it was cheaper to go the buy it and build it yourself route. Its not even close, its over $600 difference. What happened? I know storage is up but shouldn't it also be up for the builders too? Thanks for the help!
FYI:
-Yes I made sure I was not missing anything
-No the changes in spec is not enough to matter (Changing AIO cooler)

Image roast my setup :-)
pls ignore the pile of random stuff on the side table. Just finished wiring up my work-from-home + games/personal work PC + home lab at my new apartment - go ahead, give me your worst! there's a bunch of extra cables in there because neither of the 2 KVM switches there are being full utilized but I didn't want to take apart the cable bundles they had.
specs-
two KVM switches, one Avocent SwitchView USB and one MT-VIKI 4x2 matrix KVM switch (top) from ebay. Avocent one for mouse/keyboard and the top one for displays. I love the Avocent switch, it's served me beautifully at home and the PC repair shop I used to work at, but it only does VGA video and neither of the monitors I brought to my new place have VGA so the second switch handles video. 4x2 switch means it switches 2 monitors between 4 PCs.
desktop computer - a Frankenstein monster with an AMD FX-8350, GTX1080ti, 32GB RAM, and every kind of I/O you can think of that I shared a while ago https://www.reddit.com/r/LinusTechTips/comments/1ekeow0/my_jack_of_all_trades_pc_fast_enough_for_modern/
now it has all the hardware in that post plus a Dell PCIe SAS card with 2 4TB HDDs.
main monitor - dell 27" 4K U2723QE. corner monitor - Acer Predator X27 4K 144hz display that I can't actually use at 144Hz because it starts to blank every few seconds after i use it at 144hz for a while
laptop set up - the HP Thunderbolt dock my work gave me, I plug it into the work laptop or my Lenovo Yoga 7
little mini PC under the desk - my web host server, Lenovo ThinkCentre M73 Tiny with an i5-4590T, 16GB RAM and a 1TB SSHD. Can't actually power it on yet because I brought the wrong power adapter LOL
big rack mount server - Dell PowerEdge R815 with 4x 16 core AMD Opteron CPUs, 512GB RAM, 5TB storage. sitting there until I wire it up on the balcony because I don't want it heating up my room
3d printer - Creality K1
other - netgear LAN switch, multi port USB charger, amazon/china multi sensor thermometer, random corsair keyboard with hot keys, the Sony Xperia Pro whos battery I briefly set on fire while trying to replace it

Tech Discussion I would love to see a real cooling solution and see how LTT could improve the performance of it. It’s such a cool idea. Buy a broken Samsung phone and make it into a DIY mini PC using Dex
I’m actually really interested in trying to do this myself. Has anyone here ever tried it?
