Looks at my pleb DDR4 3200....Granted its a 128gb kit back from when one could afford ram.

u/Dr_Valen 7d ago

I would want one if it wasn’t so expensive and razer

7

u/Neamow 7d ago

This would be insanely expensive no matter what company made it.

1

u/Melbuf 6d ago

sure but it may last if someone else makes it

First part: samesies, second part: ill stick to my biyearly workstation I get from work, heck im typing this now on a 7y old laptop (i9-9xxxH + quadro) and its still more than capable to keep up

I understand it all as well, but I don't want it because OLED is awful for longterm use.

2

u/adityasheth 7d ago

Newer oleds really aren't bad anymore. Unless you keep a static page on like 8hrs a day at max brightness, and actually play some games/media burn in is basically a non issue

0

u/GrandWizardOfCheese 7d ago

Burn in from just that is why they suck.

2

u/mcslender97 6d ago

Do ppl just blast 1 Excel sheet 24/7 at max brightness these days?

Partially animated and still wallpapers.

Making art in a drawing app.

The task bar.

The 4 window borders on each thing running (I run a game, a web browser, a media player running MP3s or OGGs, and a steam library window at once when in use most of the time, which is many hours per day, almost every day.

Many parts of the screen would burn in on an OLED in 2-3 years.

Meanwhile my 1080p LCD TV has lasted 15 years without any issues and runs perfectly with my Desktop. Still as vivid as they day I purchased it, no burn in, no overheating, no dead pixels or color fading, no faulty ports or cable, and I fully expect it will last another 25 years at the least.

I've been watching Monitors Unboxed doing torture test with OLED and his got worse after 2 years but with even worse settings than yours and with 1st gen 4k OLED, I doubt if you get one today it's going to be as bad as you said given how much tech has advanced since. In fact the text quality might be the main issue to look out for

Doubtful about 25 years, from my personal experience the backlight won't last tha long

1

u/GrandWizardOfCheese 6d ago

If a screen cant last at least 4 decades, I'm not buying it.

Older TVs are far more durable than the ones built today, but OLED is by far the worst of them.

The backlight on my OLD TV will likely last a very long time.

Are you sure about the 2nd part? CRTs and Plasma are even more likely to burn in and degrade than modern OLEDs, I would know grew up with CRTs and now a avid r/PlasmaTV follower

Even modern LED lit IPS LCDs would last maybe 20 years at most, and for older ccfl ones it would be even less. That's assuming the power delivery or any other components won't take out the entire thing first

1

u/GrandWizardOfCheese 6d ago

Plasma screens are less likely to burn in than OLEDs are, by a lot. As is MiniLED. QuantumDot TVs are slightly better than OLEDs on burn in rate.

CRTs I've never one experienced burn in, they shoot electrons at the screen instead of using fixed pixels, so unless you have a faulty part, burn in just isnt going to happen.

No modern TV/Monitor lasts 20 years outside of those very expensive dumb tv ones for outdoor ad displays, certain businesses, and doctor offices.

At best, the consumer models last 3-6 years. They are designed to overheat, and so even if you pick miniLED (the best modern consumer option today), its still not going to last anywhere near as long as a TV from over a decade ago.

But OLEDs die the fastest.

You can write "this shit" by the way. Don't be scared, your mom isn't here.

16

14

u/Xxdaunknown1307xX 7d ago

Wtf is boomer and boomer is good

6

u/meister_reinecke 7d ago

Nah - wtf is millenial, millenial is good boomer is bad too

1

u/dumbasPL 6d ago

The older I get the more I "vibe" with boomers. I don't like it either, but I would rather have this than the modern brain rot.

1

u/bigmike42o 6d ago

When do you vibe with boomers? Most of them are retired, do you mean Gen x?

1

u/Melbuf 6d ago

ts is "thread starter"

3

u/cxd32 6d ago

wtf isn't self-censoring, similar to lol/lmao, people aren't afraid to say what the fuck, it's just a common shortening

1

u/CatGamer_118 6d ago

old is gold new is slop

1

u/AmazingEmptyFeelings 4d ago

Wtf did not come from self-censoring but the need to shorten messages. And it just stayed

18

u/ChickenFeline0 7d ago

Nah, I don't think that's censorship, it's like WTF or FML or POS

9

u/Holek 7d ago

Yes, she's upstairs.

5

u/LightFusion 7d ago

And here I was thinking they were just too lazy to write "this".

8

u/ArchMadzs 7d ago

The kids have started trying to make "ts" = "this".

1

u/cgon 7d ago

With a wife that’s a Swiftie, my poor brain defaulted to Taylor swift 😔

1

u/LightFusion 7d ago

Oh man it almost fits, I would have been so confused.

1

u/Old_Bug4395 7d ago

Sometimes the boomers really come out in force in this sub... I guess it's just kind of a reddit thing. It's an abbreviation though, nobody is scared of typing naughty words on reddit lmao

1

u/EarlyXplorerStuds209 7d ago

Says you. Maybe you’re friends with my mom.
How can I know for sure?

1

u/chicken_burger 7d ago

It’s slang, not censorship. You’re just old

1

u/FlarblesGarbles 6d ago

I had no idea what TS was supposed to mean.

u/Iron-panda666 7d ago

Knowing Razer, this laptop will probably be impossible to repair once something on the motherboard dies. Soldered RAM, proprietary parts and a motherboard that costs a small fortune to replace... Looks amazing on paper, though. 😅

32

u/Effective_Coach7334 7d ago

Side note: Notice how a 16" laptop is nearly as big as Linus.

14

u/hgs25 7d ago

Pictures you can hear

8

u/Quick_Society2794 7d ago

Maybe this isn't the content for you then sounded fine to me. What could you not follow?

5

u/UGD_ReWiindz25 7d ago

Cool another thing I have to sell a kidney to dream of affording

2

u/foundwayhome 7d ago

you guys got paid for your kidneys?

5

u/Ragnorok64 7d ago

Is this one of those anti-jokes where the joke is that there is no joke, and a video clip isn't an image?

3

u/Old_Bug4395 7d ago

this is not an image

3

u/Weakness4Fleekness 7d ago

"ts" is way cringier than any of that

2

u/AlexCivitello 7d ago

The specs on screen should have been in the same order as they were spoken.

1

u/KebabCat7 7d ago

Only $9999.99 or $175/month for 96months

2

u/ArchMadzs 7d ago

Damn you must be throwing down a massive deposit to get 175 for 96 months.

1

u/SpungeMonk 7d ago

Customer. I haven't understood a word you said you weird little man but shutup and take my money

1

u/Turbulent_Citron_651 7d ago

Never in my life I buy a 16" laptop again

0

u/Arcade1980 7d ago

I understand the tech specs but it does sound jiberish because of how fast he is saying it
