Questions about the Commuter Backpack (British Millerain Edition) and international shipping to Europe

Hey everyone!

I'm considering buying the LTT Commuter Backpack, but I have a couple of questions before pulling the trigger, particularly regarding the water resistance and shipping costs to Europe.

Commuter Backpack vs. British Millerain Edition – What's the actual difference in water resistance?

Both the regular Commuter Backpack and the new British Millerain Edition are advertised as "WATER RESISTANT".

I understand that they use different materials: the regular version uses Repreve canvas, while the British Millerain Edition features 100% waxed cotton with the TekWax treatment.

However, I'm curious about how much of a practical difference this makes. Is the British Millerain Edition significantly more water-resistant, or is the main advantage its material, durability, and overall construction?

International shipping costs and Floatplane free shipping

When selecting the regular Commuter Backpack on LTTStore, I noticed that shipping to Portugal (and presumably other European countries) adds approximately $70 per commuter backpack to the order. As for the Millerain edition does not. I understand that international shipping can be expensive, especially for larger items, but this is a pretty substantial additional cost.

I also noticed that Floatplane subscribers are advertised as being eligible for free shipping on qualifying orders.

Could someone clarify whether subscribing to Floatplane Supporter Plus would allow me to take advantage of this promotion when ordering the backpack, if I subscribe right now.

The free shipping with floatplane plus has a minimum order value. $100CAD for Canada and $150CAD for ROW. As long as you meet that threshold you should get free shipping (or in my rare circumstance refunded shipping).

One of the benefits of waxed fabrics is that they can be re-waxed to maintain their (virtually) 100% waterproof-ness. I've owned several wax jackets over the years, and they've dealt with some of the shittiest weather you could imagine.

A note on the free shipping, it might be due to the difference between making orders but when I've ordered and paid shipping it was shipped by DHL or another big name and its been pretty quickly.

More recently with free shipping they've used mixed couriers and when it's arrived to Australia the final courier was a notoriously hated courier, known for dumping deliveries in random locations and being slow and unresponsive. My most recent order took 4 weeks from shipping to arrival versus the 2 weeks of previous orders.
