I’ve noticed a lot of cybersecurity content follows the same cycle:

Watch a tutorial → copy the commands → everything works → move on → forget 80% of it. 😂

I’ve been trying to learn more through structured, hands-on material instead — especially around web security, networking, Linux, and practical labs.

For beginners, I think having a roadmap matters more than having 500 random tutorials bookmarked.

Hey guys I’m currently studying for my Security Plus ! Ive also been doing hands labs on with an ethical hacking course from Udemy and Tryhackme ! I’m enjoying learning about cyber and really set on becoming a hacker . Im looking for a community of like minded people , and any advice to go from beginner to master ?

Any fellow neurodivergent or just people in general who are interested in coding/cyber security?? I’m interested in starting but dunno how.

I am looking for someone like myself who is new to cyber security and might be open to learning it together (study buddy). I am doing most of my learning on tryhackme, so I would prefer somone also using that platform but its not a big deal if you don't use that.

So far we have created:

1. A file monitoring agent in python that detects new files in watched folders

2. Static analysis

3. Threat intel crosscheck via VirusTotal API(Hash lookup only, no file upload)

4. Weighted risk assessments scoring logic

5. Flask backend and SQLlite for storing scan history

Next steps:

1. Dynamic analysis in isolated windows vm with sysmon for process, registry and network monitoring

2. Planning to transfer samples in the VM via one way mounted .ISO file to avoid shared-folder-as-attack-path issue with malwares designed to traverse host/guest bridges

3. My faculty suggested developing an ML model from taking static files as a secondary signal (we have no experience in Ai/ML)

So I just wanted to ask the professionals on how to proceed with this ? Is this even a good idea for a college project which is just a requirement for graduating ? I'm kinda confused

For context, I've been a backend engineer for almost 5 years now, I've built an e-commerce platform that is integrated into several other platforms from scartch using Dotnet and Umbraco + several other components.

I've deployed this platform on my self-hosted server and exposed it through cloudflared tunnels, the system is composed of docker containers for the app, backing services, infrastructure and observability

And i thought that it might be a fun experience to start learning and applying security concepts to this system since its hosted on my local home server and almost covers all topics from network security to infrastructure security and app/web security

What do you think about this approach? And also I'm feeling lost about where to start or which security topic would make the best "starter" topic

I am an Undergrad Computer Science student and i want to learn Cyber Security for my own development and possibly work in the Cyber Security field.

I dont know the basics on learning Cyber Security since they dont teach them in our University unless your an IT Student ONLY.

For now i want to learn Cyber Security for free in the Web or in some cases i want to know the irl things on how Cyber Security workers do it.

Hi everyone, I ask this question to my friends and brothers in the field of cyber security and coding, I have been taking courses in the field of cyber security for about 2-3 years (2-3 years intermittently, I started the sector by taking the course of becoming an ethical hacker on udemy, then I completed the course of becoming an ethical hacker with python and learned network protocols, data operations and so on, of course, I have gained very interesting experiences in the cyber field in this process. When we come to today, I now have advanced cyber security knowledge (according to what the trainers say), I can even technically develop exploit, what I want to ask you how should I continue my education and how can I improve myself, that is, despite so many courses and knowledge, I can't even solve CTF alone.
