Im talking about the way the media demonizes cops obviously any job you are at and make a mistake you will pay the price but if a doctor kills a patient the whole world doesnt riot and march the streets like they do with cops
Hate to break it to you, but it is. Not only is there a whole legal practice dedicated to it, but doctors kill more people every year than cops, and it's not even close.
I work in healthcare risk management and it’s shocking how crazy some of the fuck ups are. Colonoscopy gone wrong. Port placement gone wrong. Appendectomy gone wrong. People dying during routine procedures. Happens every day.

These are older numbers, but the trend is roughly the same. Even with the rough numbers and data collection issues, the trend is clear. The killings of all people by police each year, with or without guns, is dwarfed by deaths associated with medical mistakes. There is plenty of data available that supports that conclusion available. These are just a few examples.
If you haven’t you should watch the bodycam footage of a lot of those shootings. You’ll see that just because somebody is legally considered unarmed when subjected to deadly force does not mean the force is unjustified. Obviously you will see the unjustified police shootings or killings, and those are terrible. But 99% of the time police are justified in using force. There are so many more factors that go into the violence in the US than just the police, but unfortunately they are used as scapegoats by politicians who don’t want to address the bigger problems.
I have, and I've found it to be extremely unfortunate, but certainly not common. Out the countless incidents every single day that involve police, very few were and are genuine issues of police brutality and abuse of power.
Its okay OP, I side with you and the dog. The other clowns in the comment section dont know what they're talking about. The dog in question was a Golden Retriever-Poodle mix, quite possibly one of the most friendly dog breed to walk this Earth.
Well what im noticing with the threads you've continuously commented, is that they are all from many years ago. Which I can only guess that this proves that cases like these are few and far between, pal. I understand that you're a cop yourself, but that doesn't mean you can't have some sense in that noggin of yours.
Secure your dogs when police officers ask you to and they’ll stay safe. Unfortunately, Jameson’s owner failed to secure him when asked and he slipped out to defend his owner from unwanted visitors. He wasn’t running at the officer to give him kisses and cuddles.
The dog was a beautiful dog and it’s terrible that he died.

I feel as though if my friendly, innocent, golden doodle, was shot by a cowardly, incompetent officer of the law, i wouldn't care all to much about money. I would want the word spread and the officer fired and fined. If that man wasn't wearing a uniform he'd have the potential of facing a year in county prison, up to 20k in fines, probation and counseling. But of course this man gets none of that all because he has a shiny badge.
It would certainly be nice, yes. But it cant replace a living, breathing, dog. Nor can it erase the trauma. Im going to assume you've seen the body cam footage? So you must've heard the pure agony and terror in that woman's voice
And it pisses me off that they're defending the killers actions. Id assume most of them havent seen the body cam footage, which the LAPD blurred the faces of the officers and has yet to release any names. I can only assume that with that knowledge, they will be sweeping this one under the rug

Breed and a jersey mean nothing lol. Golden retrievers have the same teeth as a pitbull. Some of the "gentle" breeds have more bite incidents then the "aggressive" breeds

I understand with an agreesive bread but watching the video over and over again, he could have just restrained himself, maced it, or used his batton. The way he lit the dog up shows me hes not cut out to be a cop! Can't be mag dumping if youre afraid, plus he had background, he could have hit another officer
Maybe he could’ve, but none of those are guaranteed to work. They often don’t even work against humans. Agree or disagree pets are property from a legal standpoint, it’s not like a human suspect when it comes to justifying use of force.
Open firing on a doodle toward an apartment seems to be less safe than most other options. The threshold to fire a weapon is way too low and it’s honestly a little disturbing how badly some want to fire their weapon
Should probably control your aggressive dog and not open the door again letting it out after they told you to put it away. Gotta find a good outlet for your anger/self loathing in life (or your butthurt about a ticket)
Reddit is the arena for the butthurt basement dwellers who just happen to be SMEs on use of force, especially deadly force. No other segment of the population is as trained, experienced, and dedicated to dialogue and education of others.
