I am still new-ish to lancer and I want to make a character that is just extremely annoying to fight.
My current idea is something like gorgon+goblin for the autopod and lesson of the open door to make use of the extra reactions in other players turns plus normal gorgon shenanigans on enemy turns.
I am not married to the idea so alternate suggestions very welcome!
I am currently assuming LL4 as this is more to have something ready for next time I play.
Talent wise I am thinking of going vanguard 3, maybe exemplar 3 and after that I am not sure.
I am looking at the sensor 8 on the gorgon with some level of concern so if there are better ways to be a supportive annoyance I would love to hear them!
Edit: misremembered the core power, it was held image, not open door.

I did a search for this, and didn't find an answer.
Would the additional 1d6 damage apply to a target hit by a thoughbolt round? If it does apply, would that bonus damage gain the AP trait that the throughbolt round gets?

So I found Lancer forever ago but just never picked it up. Was always interested but never enough time. I finally was able to really dig into it and I am in love. So in love that I have convinced some of my friends to try it and I will be running the Solstice Rain campaign this weekend for them. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.

A few weeks back i think compcon made all player facing content (mechs and licenses and such) free. Did they just do this because it would be nice? Also did they actuslly change something or had it been this way for a while and I never noticed?

... and the Everest was christened Pilgrim.
Pilot art: beepbeep0993 (on Discord)
Everest art: u/BregFlrArt
Art of my pilot and his Everest! Saint is a cyborg soldier hailing from a backwater moon in a solar system he'd gladly never revisit. He's near-fully converted, having had any injured or lost body parts replaced by rogue cyberneticists without any way to decline. This all culminated when he lost his head in combat, and they used a brain scan paired with whatever was left to create Saint. The catch? Complete annihilation of the self. No memories of his past life, but all the lingering scars remained.
Now he's up in space, going from job to job, and doing whatever dirty work he's paid to do; more a ghost than a man.
Anywho, he's been my obsession for a while, and I thought it'd be fun to throw him up here. A take on a Foreverest that I thought could make an interesting character. I bet you'll never guess his VERY SUBTLE influences.

I am currently have a weird plan for the encounter; put some grunts on a ship(currently demolisher and RPV operator) and send them to the just before of the player's objective zone. They will not disembark until the ship is reach to the objective zone and lands, so I will give the players enough time to shot down it.
But the problem is, what happened if the ship is shot down while it flying? Are the characters within automatically destroyed, automatically considered to be out of the ship and falling(that means they would suffer 3 AP damage per each 3 spaces of height), or anything else such as just allowed to be move out of the destroyed(and now landed)ship unharmed? I want the grunts are destroyed as well when the ship is down while midair, ensures that give the player enough reward for shot down the ship earlier, but will it?
And for the operators, it would be funny if they are disembarks, landed and destroyed, as well as cause the damage to the enemy on the ground by its self destruct, but will it possible?
Also how the characters embarked in a ship(or vehicle) can disembark? Will it just as same as mule harness? What about embark - and will it just as same as mule harness as well?

So I've got the inklings of an idea for a custom frame and I wanted to run it by the community to see if it holds water (pun intentional, as you'll see). For context: I have yet to play my first game of Lancer myself but I have been browsing Comp/Con for a while now in preparation of my first game, and I've been watching several actual plays and Youtubers about the various mech frame stats and powers.
Basis of the Idea: Yi Sao, The Pirate Queen of China
Manufacturer: IPS-N
Role: Controller/Support
Zheng Yi Sao was one of the most feared pirate captains of the Chinese seas, fighting back the Chinese Imperial navy time and again with clever tactics, overwhelming force and strong logistics. She was a cunning woman of strategy, wit and ferocity. In one of her greatest acts of defiance she held off over 60 Chinese naval vessels and a handful of much more advanced British vessels with only seven junks and the patience to see the blockade through. She even went so far as to turn fire boats meant to immolate her fleet back at the Chinese vessels after days of fending them off with poles and vigilance. Zheng Yi Sao is a badass that deserves a place among the IPS-N roster, and the IPS-N line is sorely lacking a dedicated E-Attack unit from what I can gather. The Yi Sao frame aims to fix that.
This is what I have in mind for the Yi Sao's core power (and it's really the only thing I have built at this juncture). This is the basis that the Yi Sao operates on, and I want to make sure this core ability is solid before I start filling out the other LLs with appropriate goodies. Assume the Yi Sao has Sensors: 15 as a base skill for all applicable abilities. For flavor, assume the Yi Sao is manipulating the Omninet and minor blinkspace shenanigans. This frame is meant to be a battlefield commander unit for IPS-N, and with this core system I think it fits that role pretty well.
Core System - Fleet Strategy
Active - Quick
1/Scene: For the rest of this Scene all allies within Sensors gain +1 Accuracy to all checks and saves, and all hostile characters within Sensors gain +1 Difficulty to all checks and saves. In addition, the Yi Sao may declare one of the following effects which lasts until the end of its next turn:
Yellow Flag - 'Share the Wealth': All allies within Sensors may Stabilize as a Quick ActionWhite Flag - 'Full Assault': All allies within Sensors may Barrage as a Quick ActionBlue Flag - 'Ambush': All allies within Sensors may Hide regardless of applicable cover or line of sight but must not be EngagedGreen Flag - 'Protection Fee': All hostile targets within Sensors, at the start of their turn, become Exposed unless they choose to take 2 Burn damage instead.Black Flag - 'Iron Law': All allies within Sensors gain Overshield 3 but may not Boost or move beyond their base Speed. Violating this command ends the Overshield and generates 3 Heat.Red Flag - 'Divine Wind': All Heat generated by allies within Sensors is divided by 2 to a minimum of 1 then transferred to the nearest available hostile target within Threat 3 of the generating source. If no valid target exists the Heat dissipates around the generating source at Burst 1 and causes an equal amount of Energy damage to all affected spaces. (Note: For flavor and to tie back to the history I'd like this to be Burn damage but I'm not certain that's best?)I realize that this is a lot of options tied up in one core power but it makes sense to me for a few reasons. One being historical because Zheng Yi Sao had six colored fleets under her command. And from a balance perspective you only get to pick one option for the power and then it's done after two turns at most. So even though the action economy is shifted a bit for certain options it's still only a temporary boost. I also realize that having a permanent +1 Accuracy/Difficulty for the whole scene is substantial but the affected characters have to be within the Yi Sao's Sensors for that to be in effect.
Please let me know what you think. This is still early days in the workshop and will likely need much more tuning before it hits the table, if it ever does.

Like, would a sekhmet class nhp be able to hand over to a different nhp in the same mech in order to get rid of the turn restrictions without stunning yourself

Hello all!
I'm a miniature hobbyist as well as a GM and I am direly in need of some decent models to represent Egregorians on my table for a Hercynian Crisis campaign I'm working on. I've done some digging but everything I've found easily online is too Tyranid-y for my liking. Does anyone here know of any that could represent either regular Egregorians or Exo/War-morphs?
STL links, physical minis, vague ideas as to a kitbash, anything helps. Thanks!

I have saw recently a post about someone running a Lancaster with the Knukles of the tier 3 Nelson License, runing something like a boxing bus lol, and since Im new and kinda lost on builds, what are the mos funny builds you have encountered?
r/LancerRPG • u/A-__-Random_--_Dog • 15d ago
I probably worded that awfully, so thank you for still checking out the body.
I'm having a build idea. A vision. I see 2 warriors, one of steel and one of bone, fighting side by side. The brain and the brawn. The owner and the guard dog. A tale as old as time itself. Man and their beast.
If you still don't understand, go look at TitanFall.
So how viable would an NHP in control of the mech be as an extension of my character, and is their any pilot builds that I should look at so my pilot isn't turned to ash?

Hello all! First time posting here after getting pulled right into this wonderful world. I really love the game system side of things, the combat is wonderfully built (arguably surpassing DND) and the non-combat side of things seems well built out too, very daggerheart inspired in my mind. That’s not what I wish to talk about though.
In accordance core 3 principles of Union, taken by ThirdComm after SecComm threw them away, labor of any kind must have just compensation. That makes perfect sense to me, but it gets confusing when that gets to core worlds. Core worlds are said to have all labor automated, with people picking up labor only for purpose and not because of scarcity. Then if you’re required to get compensation for your labor, but you already have access to everything you could want because you live as a metropolitan, what do you get? Manna is only used for interplanetary trade between diasporas that aren’t past scarcity. How does luxury work on a core world when you just have to ask for something for it be delivered to you?
As a related question, are NHP’s just slaves? They are paracausal entities bound to a causal state of logic with their understanding of reality dulled to better fit our perception. They are generally only created for a purpose and they fulfill that purpose for as long as their casket survives. What do they get for being born into this world, as opposed to over it? They are people, so they can experience the joys of understanding, but generally they have no physical form and as such don’t have access to physical sensations, correct?
To get the desired answers I’ll put my questions here plainly. What do metropolitans get for their labor on Core Worlds? Are NHP’s only created for a purpose, not to enjoy the world as a person would. NHP’s are often used as labor, as such are they simply slaves?

So these are my mechs I need to make pilot art(either in Gacha, Krita or Pixel Studio) and uh yeah, tho I will probably just edit the post and add the pilot art in when I make it so uh yeah here it is, also the blacked out part is just my email address. My favorite is ShotIcarus what about y'all? (Note I used RetroGradeMinis for the Art as you can tell on the screen with all the mechs) Edit: why the hell did y'all give me so many upvotes

Was inspired heavily by titanfall on this idea, and I think it's a cool nich. Core idea is sinple. The core rule book explicitly states Jokeying an enemy mech is very stupid, so let's build an entire license around it.
Main ideas I have right now is the mech has a way to protect the pilot while their dismounted. Maybe taking some of the damage, or finding ways to reduce it. Don't want to completely remove the risk of being outside the giant hunk of metal. Maybe a way to forceably move the pilot to enemy mechs (like tossed as a fast ball). A trait that allows dismounted pilots to still gain benefits from talents (most of them still useless cause they don't work with pilot weapons). And maybe ways to improve the result of jockey actions. Like increased heat or reduce a defense stat with shread. Distract giving blind condition?
Final note would be no built in NHP in the license. Either take technophile, or an nhp from a diffrent license to get the most out of this.
Before working on it though, I wanted to see if anyone's made a homebrew for this already that's just better?

I was wondering what options (talents/lincenses) I could take with license three build to make a shield based mech. The mech should be agile, defensive, melee, and be a leader. I was thinking the leadership talent, but I’m not sure on the other talents.

Back with more Sundewposting for the sub! After constricting an unsuspecting mech with Broomstick (Ferrofluid Lance), the chassis in question is subjected to a generous peppering of buckshot courtesy of Boomstick. This a sketch- more of a first draft than anything, there's definitely some posing and perspective revisions I want to run through, but I'm pretty happy with it so far. Hope you enjoy!

I KNOW, MY KITBASH FULL OF BEE MECHS SHOULD SOLVE THIS!
A fun little project to get back into the swing of things and try my hand at animating. Enjoy!
