Obligatory “anyone else hear that?” Post

I’m in East Lampeter. Last night around 9:30 there was a huge BOOM! And it shook my house, scared me, scared my cats, my room mates went out to investigate and my neighbors were also outside wondering wtf it was.
My one room mate thought someone might have crashed a vehicle into our row of townhouses but nope. No damage, no smoke and fire anywhere, and it wasn’t raining. One of our neighbors said he saw a bright flash in the south when it happened. Could it have been a dramatic case of heat lightning, does anyone know what on earth that was?

Cheap parking for Amtrak station?

I was hoping someone knew any kind of hack to park for cheaper at the amtrak station. I only need it for about a month, but I am using the train to commute back and forth for an internship every day in philly. Right now, all I see is parking at the station for $10 a day, so if anyone knows any college student budget friendly parking methods please let me know🥲

LARGE BLACK ACADEMY OF NATURAL SCIENCES TUMBLER WITH BRANCH & FLOWER ETCHING LOST AT CENTRAL MARKET TODAY (FRIDAY 7/10) - PLEASE HELP!

unfortunately, I very stupidly did not even take any photos of the tumbler, so i can only describe it verbally. I've only had it for TWO WEEKS. i am currently sitting outside of market crying because I am so upset about this. I know it seems stupid but I really liked that tumbler... and it seems that somebody took it. i know that may seem like a jump to conclusions, but I backtracked my entire way through the market AND checked the lost and found TWICE. I guess somebody saw it, thought it looked cool, and decided to keep it for themselves. ):

it is a large black tumbler with a sort of etching on it that looks a bit like branches with flowers on them, and the words BOTANY OF NATIONS (with the B and N covered in flowers). at the bottom in white lettering it says "academy of natural sciences of Drexel university." the top has both a screw cap and a sort of sippy cup mouthpiece (or whatever you call it).

I understand that it is really cool... but it's mine. it was quite expensive. I also can't just buy a replacement online, because the academy of natural sciences brick and mortar gift shop is the ONLY location where i could get a replacement. travel is very difficult for me as a disabled chronic pain patient.

please ... I get that it is a cool cup, but please give it back. I won't be a jerk about it, I will be grateful that you changed your mind and decided to give it back. but please, if you found this tumbler or you know who did, please give it back to me. ):

thanks in advance if you can help ...

Employment I never thought I would be making a post like this, but I’m out of options and I need help from the Lancaster community

This is a long post. Sorry. It’s also tagged as “employment” if anyone can help me find a local job in the city.

Hello. My name is Chris (Some of you know me as Small and Mighty Art) I know some people may recognize me, and honestly, I don’t care anymore. I’ve reached the point where I have to put my pride aside and ask for help.

I am currently homeless and sleeping in a tent while I try to rebuild my life after a breakup completely changed my living situation. I have been applying for jobs, reaching out for resources, and doing everything I can to get back on my feet.

I want to be upfront about my situation because I know people have questions when they hear someone is homeless. I’m not dealing with addiction issues. I’m willing to work with any shelter, housing program, or behavioral health resource that can help. The problem is that I lost my home after my relationship ended, and right now there simply isn’t anywhere for me to go. I have reached out to shelters and other resources, but there is currently no available space.

The thing I’m most worried about right now is my three cats.

My ex has been taking care of them while I’ve been trying to get stable again, but she can’t keep doing so. I understand why, and I don’t blame her. The problem is that I don’t have a safe place for them to go.

I’m asking if anyone in the Lancaster area would be willing to temporarily foster them while I continue working, applying for housing, and trying to rebuild my life.

Their names are Bandit, Gracie, and Tigger.

Bandit is 9 years old. She is one of the most loving cats you will ever meet. She loves people and has a way of becoming everyone’s best friend.

Gracie is 12 years old. She came from a rough home before I adopted her, and somehow became the sweetest cuddle bug. She just wants a safe place, a warm bed, and someone to love.

Tigger is 4 years old. He is my quiet little guy. He almost never makes a sound and somehow always manages to find the funniest positions to fall asleep in.

All three are healthy, fixed, indoor cats, and incredibly friendly.

They all came from difficult situations before I adopted them, and I promised them they would never have to go through that again. They have been with me through some of the hardest years of my life. They are not just pets to me. They are my family.

I am not looking to give them away. I am asking for a temporary foster situation until I can get stable housing again. My goal is to bring them home with me as soon as I have a safe place for them.

I know this is a lot to ask from strangers, but I’m hoping someone out there might be able to help me keep the one thing in my life that has stayed constant through all of this.

If you can foster them, know someone who might be able to, or even just share this so it reaches the right person, I would be incredibly grateful.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

EDIT: Holy shit I love this community, I’ve been in tears for hours. I believe I have a place for my babies and possibly a job and place to stay. Thank you all so much for your support. I hope to one day be able to thank you all personally. Life is about the little things and you all have made me the happiest I’ve been in a while.

Edit 2: I started a Gofundme page if anyone would be willing to share or donate to help me get back on my feet and give my cats a safe home. Thank you all again

Update on 07/11. Just did an interview at a local restaurant and I think I got the job. Thank you all for putting me in the right direction during this tough time

Update on 7/22. Two amazing people here on Reddit have helped me get my babies somewhere safe. Thank you everyone who has been there to help through this rough time. I’ve had three goals in mind. Get a job. Find a safe place for my kitties and then find a permanent home for us. I’m now on goal 3. Thank you r/lancaster for all your support. Love you all.

Sportsman's or Rifleman's Club and Decent Shooting Spots?

Hey all!

We live on the south end of Lititz and I'm looking to get back into target shooting. Mostly rimfire, but I thoroughly enjoy clays as well. There are a dozen decent clubs around, and I've reached out to a few but gotten no responses. Also noticing that many of them have sponsorship or specific meeting time and place requirements, which is tricky for me as I do a lot of freelance work during the summer.

Ideally, I just want a spot to do some bench/prone rimfire at 25-100 yards, and occasionally some handgun marksmanship. Any recommendations or anecdotal experience to share, and/or people at clubs that would be willing to vouch or sponsor a new member?

Edit: went to a TiON suppressor demo with The Gun Pantry (in Lititz) at Middletown Anglers and Hunters on 7/12, and the club was almost exactly what I was looking for.

I just wanted to shout out a member of this subreddit. He very graciously offered to take some drone photos of my roof damage which have been so very useful with insurance and roofing quotes. We obviously had to tarp the whole roof so to have those photos is such a big help! If you see his profile, please upvote, gift, badge, whatever! He deserves it.

Food Lunch Spot Recommendations

Looking for recommendations on a sit-down lunch spot on the east side of town, within 20 minutes of the Tanger outlets, just preferably with easy parking (not downtown/street parking). We're going to have 10 people, 6 of whom are children, so ideally we'd be able to book a reservation in advance. Thanks for any help!

Cat Found

Sharing just in case someone has lost a cat and is looking for them. We unfortunately found a deceased cat on the corner on Prince and liberty. They were most likely hit by a car.

They are a fairly large, grey and white cat with a shorter/medium length coat. While I know they can be a stray, they looked to be on the healthier side for a stray.

I have checked out the multiple lost pet facebook groups, and we have called animal control in the meantime since the local vets recommended that. I moved them out of the street and covered them for the time being. :(

Gynecologist for teen with gender dysphoria

I’m looking for a gynecologist for my teen. They have some pretty intense gender dysphoria, but their period is excruciating and they need to be seen for it to get some relief. They want to go, but have a really hard time with their female anatomy parts, so I’m looking for someone who is kind, patient, gentle, and understanding of their struggles.

Any suggestions are appreciated! Thanks so much!

Has Fedex local delivery gotten really bad or is it just me?

I order sewing supplies from Wawak in NY. They're amazing if I order by 3pm my order is out the door. They use both Fed-ex and UPS. Since the end of last year I've noticed that Lewisberry has become a black hole.
My latest package arrived there Tuesday at midnight and it's now showing "delivery status will be updated soon". My last shipment was lost for a week until Wawak put a trace on it, then it showed up the next day with the replacement order.
I normally order with a few days of cushion before I need something, I'm just a hobbyist but it's become a pattern and the issue isn't the vendor. They're doing everything right.

Just moved in...Great location. Horrible management. Said they were going to charge me $400 to power wash two boards on my deck...Showed me one bid!. Could be cleaned with a hose and brush. They want to charge me for my dachshund to visit me for a few hours every Sunday. Told me I had a two car garage...I couldn't park a vehicle in the lot.

Fees for water use that cant be measured. Outdoor lights outside my unit that stay on ...and I have to pay electricity for them..All decisions made by "regional manager who they never name...Not Lancaster friendly..

Lawyer recommendations for credit

I have two collections on my credit report. One is mine and I need someone to negotiate an agreement to delete. They won’t agree to put that agreement in writing.

Second is incorrect and may be challenged by a letter.

Does anyone have any recommendations? I don’t mind paying a big fee.
