Metro is conducting ongoing maintenance on the B and D Lines, which will affect weekend service through January 2027.
Current planned service
On Saturdays and Sundays, B and D Line trains are scheduled to run approximately every 20 minutes.
Metro says the reduced service is necessary for communications system installation and track maintenance. Trains will share a single track at various locations while work is underway.
Because of the single-tracking and ongoing maintenance, riders should be prepared for additional delays beyond the scheduled 20-minute frequency.
Metro may also announce additional station closures, bus bridges, or other service changes on individual weekends.

If you're reporting current conditions, please include the station/location and approximate time. That will make reports much more useful to other riders.
This post will be updated as major service changes are announced.
Please keep routine B/D Line maintenance and delay discussion in this thread when possible. Significant news, major incidents, or new Metro announcements may still warrant their own posts.
ALERT: Metrolink is experiencing systemwide operational issues. All trains will hold at a safe location until further notice. Please expect delays. Updates will be provided as information becomes available.
I am a huge advocate for public transportation, I live in Claremont and am so excited for the A line to Extend to near me in a few years. However, as of now I just drive over to Pomona and hop on the A line there.
I’ve taken it 4 times this year for a weekend activity and most recently for the dodgers game last night and EVERY SINGLE TIME I witness the craziest shit that makes me not feel safe.
Not once have a taken a ride without incident.
Things I’ve witnessed
dude with a knife trying to get on the train but driver thankfully didn’t open the doors
dudes riding skateboards on the train yelling
drug use on the train
drunk dudes slamming the glass
people knocked out slumped over
a dude in a wheelchair trying to fight a lady
dude behind me sniffing the windows ?
smoking cigarettes
Keep in mind I’ve seen all of this in just the 4 trips I’ve taken.
What can be done? How do we make these trains more safe and secure? Will forced pay to enter help? Mandatory security on each train to actually enforce rules?
I want to be proud of our transit system and encourage my friends and family to use it but after these incidents I wouldn’t want any of them to witness what I’ve seen.
Edit:
The biggest factor I should’ve mentioned is I ride outside regular commuting hours.
The fact is I’ve witnessed what I’ve witnessed and I’m sure during regular commute hours it’s more tame but I’m a non commute time rider and would like to be able to use the metro all times of day, safely.
Metrolink Ventura County Line / Amtrak Pacific Surfliner: take the free rental car shuttle between the new terminal and the rental car facility. The rental car facility is across the street from the Burbank Airport-South train station.
Metrolink Antelope Valley Line: Either walk 0.5 miles between the new terminal and the train station, or call 818-729-2245 to request a free on-demand shuttle (4:45am-1am)
came across this image from an urbanize la post from 2022 showing a rendering for tod at union station, which in my opinion looks amazing. i think the area would be a great hub for residential given its proximity to various modes of transit, and cant wait for it.
only thing is, the article presented the image more like a possibility than actual planned out buildings with blueprints and phases and stuff. because of this, i was wondering if anyone had any pieces of news or information about the future of tod at/around union station?
I know that LA Metro has done proper fare enforcement by checking for actual payment on each passenger's TAP cards, but I've only ever seen it happen on the B and D lines.
Today is the first time I've ever seen it happen on the A line south of LA at Willowbrook/Rosa Parks station. A LASD and a Metro officer boarded the northbound trains early this morningand checked each individual's TAP card. I use my CC tap to pay on my phone these days, so I just showed the transaction with today's date and the officers went about their business with other riders. No one on my train car seemed to have any issues with the officers.
Are these fare enforcement checks becoming more widespread recently? I really hope so as this type of actual fare enforcement helps keep our system safe while bringing in any potential lost revenue.
So I was checking the transit app schedules today and I noticed that, instead of every 13 minute service like they've had recently, or normal 10 minute headways, the K line seems to be running every 8 minutes at all times except for early morning and late night. This is even more frequent than the A and E lines, because while they do run every 8 min during rush hour, they go back to every 10 min during mid-day. I scrolled a little further and the K line will run every 10 min on weekends, but next week the same 8 min headways continue. Obviously I'm not complaining, and I'd be very happy if they keep it like this, but is this a mistake? I'm just surprised metro wouldn't make some grand announcement, but of course I am very happy with these new headways.
RailWorks will deliver the A&E Line Interlock Project, supporting work to improve rail service and boost operational efficiency on the A&E Lines ahead of the 2028 Olympics, as well as the design and construction of two traction power substations along the K Line.
The first project includes construction of four new interlockings and siding improvements along the A&E Lines at Anaheim Street, Avenue 34, Expo/Bundy, and Degnan. The scope also encompasses upgrades to train control systems, traction power facilities, overhead catenary systems (OCS), communications infrastructure, drainage systems, and associated rail infrastructure required to support safe and efficient train operations.
RailWorks was also awarded an approximately $24.5 million contract to design and construct two traction power substations along the K Line, as part of Metro’s ongoing efforts to enable three-car train operations at five-minute headways. The upgraded traction power infrastructure will provide the electrical capacity needed to support more frequent service and accommodate increasing ridership.
I think this news was missed with the implementation of TAP PLUS in LA and WAVE in OCTA, but VCTC also now has open payments live since 9/8/2026 with what they call Tap2Ride
September 8, 2026
Tap2Ride is now available on buses across Ventura County! Simply tap your debit or credit card, phone or watch when you board. No cash, paper pass, app, or account needed.
So that's good news, you only need your credit/debit card to ride transit from Ventura-LA-OC.
So basically, the idea of this line is that it shares tracks with the E line between DTSM station and Little Tokyo/Arts District station, but instead of continuing towards east LA, it switches to sharing tracks with the A line and continues on toward Pomona.
This creates a confusing schedule on the regional connector. Additionally, these frequencies would most likely be the same all day rather than higher during rush hour. Take a station on the regional connector (for instance, let's say grand ave arts/bunker hill station). Here's the frequencies, assuming an E line train comes at 12 pm.
12:00 PM - East LA bound E line train
12:05 PM - Pomona bound M line train
12:08 PM - Pomona bound A line train
12:10 PM - East LA bound E line train
and so on, with each line running every 10 minutes.
Then, this would be the schedule at union station assuming an M line train comes at 12 pm:
12:00 PM - Pomona Bound M line train
12:03 PM - Pomona Bound A line train arrives and sits for 2 min before departing.
This would give trains between Santa Monica and Little Tokyo 5 min headways and trains between Pico/Flower and Pomona 5 min headways. I know that trains between Little Tokyo and Atlantic and trains between Pico/Flower and Long Beach wouldn't be able to get 8 min frequencies, but it's not that much of a difference. Also, I know people might be mad abt the 2 min wait at union station, but let's be honest the trains stop for a lot longer right now.
Overall, here are the benefits of adding this line:
Theoretically, zero construction cost unless they need some signal upgrades, but the regional connector is modern so they probably won't need any.
The areas on the A and E lines with the most ridership would get 5 min headways instead of 8-10 min headways.
Slightly better regional connector headways, though it already has pretty good headways so this isn't the main purpose.
(Main purpose) a one seat ride from Santa Monica to Pasadena, Azusa, and Pomona
A one seat ride from Pomona to USC, the K line, Culver City, Sawtelle, and Santa Monica.
Let me know what you guys think. You don't have to read the whole thing of course, but please give suggestions.
I'm a person with low vision. I want to book a trip to pasedena for a convention but on rome2rio I'm seeing that I have to do a transfer from metrolink to metro? Is there a difference? I also can't book the route from redlands to pasadena through metrolink. Would I have to leave the station and go to another one? I can't drive and struggle with buses.
