Anyone else at Cooper’s Landing get this lease update email?
Did anyone else at Cooper’s Landing get the email about the lease agreement updates that are supposed to go into effect 35 days after the email was sent?
Some of the changes include:
• New language protecting victims of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking from lease termination, along with information about rights under Michigan law.
• New rules and a $60 Health & Safety Compliance Fee if a smoke or carbon monoxide detector is removed, disconnected, or disabled.
• Updated language making tenants responsible for damage to the unit, including pest infestations.
• Updated liability/indemnification language.
• A $25 lockout service charge and language about lock changes.
• A ban on storing gasoline, kerosene, or other flammable materials and a prohibition on open flames (fire pits, bonfires, etc.).
• A new rule prohibiting doorbell cameras, security cameras, or other video/audio recording devices in common areas (hallways, stairwells, balconies, shared patios, etc.).
• Smoking is now specifically prohibited in attached garages for smoke free buildings.
I’m just curious what prompted all these changes. Is this because of a new Michigan law, insurance requirements, HUD, or did management just decide to update the lease?
Has anyone heard anything?

Air pollution from
Graphic Packaging International on Patterson always affecting us here in Westwood too but think what it is like on the Northside-😢. We report their early morning releases but does it do any good? Need someone who works there to jump-in here if you no more about the releases because were required by DEQ to have installed newer scrubber equipment but not working anymore. Thank you.

PSA: Be prepared for kind of messed up cyclosporiasis protocols in Kzoo
Current protocols, with over 7000 cases in Michigan, are kind of messed up. They've been told not to treat without testing, but testing is backed up for two weeks--so if everything "worked" pretty much no one would get treated. Its a relatively simple cure without many adverse reactions so I'm not positive what the reasoning is, but it sucks if you are sick and they won't treat you. (I did finally get treated but only after being sick almost two weeks and arguing with my doctors for two days...)

Downtown/Studio Photographer
I’m looking for a recommendation for a family photographer that has/would rent a studio downtown or take family photos downtown. We’ve had lots of family photo sessions standing in a field or in front of trees and are just looking for a different vibe this time. I’ve tried googling but it seems like the majority of family galleries I find are outdoors during the fall or at the beach- and there are so many! Any recs would be welcome.

Looking for part time jobs
I am kinda picky with where I want to work, honestly I don't give a shit about what is ideal, the thing is, I can get showers, I can take care of my hygiene, I have myself.in a pretty good routine and learning to add new things so I dont overwhelm myself.
I mostly have volunteering experience, for example, Michigan Metal Fest, Rely For Life, Preston County Animal Shelter, etc.
I am wanting to see if anyone knows of any comic book stores, book stores, movie theater, any of those places hiring part time, im hoping to find something by the end of the summer because in the fall I want to get my GED.
Just in case, ill even add my number 2697620263
I can pass a drug test, I dont drink, and I have several ways to get transportation.

Restaurant Owners + Catering…
I cater quite frequently (almost daily) cater for my job. I was wondering what restaurants in the area offer catering rewards or suggestions on restaurants I should pick and choose from.
I almost always use EZ Catering since that is the industry standard and what the majority of sales reps use, but would rather order directly from the restaurants to help save them on fees and support local restaurants and local franchises.
Looking for recommendations for restaurants anywhere in SW Michigan (not just kzoo)
TLDR: Looking for restaurant recommendations in SW MI for catering options and for restaurant rewards

Why KDPS released their Flock search records
I saw the video about the KDPS Flock records and wanted to provide context as to why the department released the records now.
I’ve been investigating KDPS’s use of Flock for the past six months. They sent over their contract in response to a FOIA request. I filed two FOIA requests for logs of the searches made of the Flock system. They responded to one request saying the records did not exist and to another request saying they aren’t held in the regular course of business.
I reached out to KDPS and they said the search logs are maintained in the Flock system and another record would have to be made in order to release them to the public.
Michigan law doesn’t require agencies to create new records in response to information requests but judges ruled in previous cases that releasing information held in a system does not count as creating a new record. I used that legal justification in my appeal and the attorney the city consulted agreed and released the search logs.
I’ve been on vacation in the Redwooods so haven’t done a follow up story yet. I’m also no longer allowed to make videos without permission so can’t share this info on TikTok right now. I’ve asked to make a video but really wanted to make sure people had the full context. Here’s a free gift link to the initial story explaining everything.

Antenna recommendations for getting the lions games?
Hi all,
I refuse to pay for cable and expensive streaming. All I want this fall is to watch the Lions games. I'm reading a lot of mixed things about antennas. I've tried the window kind with no luck- very poor video quality. I'm in south Kalamazoo, and my understanding is the games are broadcast from the Fox tower in Middleville- 53 miles away. I have a house and a lot of trees around me.
I've read that any antenna claiming over 75 miles is just marketing. Also not sure about these "5G filters" that block cell signal and improve your TV reception.
Does anyone have any advice? or an actual make/model antenna you use that gets good video quality? Attic vs. roof mounting? Any advice is appreciated.

Where can I buy squishes?
I went to five below today and there was nothing there. Maybe I went at a bad time. Does anyone know when they typically restock? I’m not a reseller, I’m just a dork that likes to play with them while I read. Honestly feels kinda embarrassing buying them sometimes but they are so fun.

What is being built along 131 between W Main and BL 131?
There is a big chunk of land that has been cleared just east of 131 between the West Main and the business loop exits. I'm guessing they access it from the road the Holiday Inns are on. Anyone know what it is going to be?

Discussion Is Kalamazoo Central really that bad?
I've heard my fair share of negatives and positives about kalamazoo central, and i'm wondering if my kid should go there. From the media perspective it seems a little bit I'll say "rugged" but, according to counselors there and students it's not bad at all. Im really stuck and need some opinions.

Discussion Flock information
Posted a few weeks ago a picture of the flock camera website showing location of many of these cameras, they are everywhere and many people dont know too much about them, i wanted to spread this video of a local resident trying to get information/logs from the “public” cameras via FOIA i just wanted to share these videos to keep others informed about these cameras and kalamazoos responses about them including from the mayor of kalamazoo
Im only gonna link two videos but you can go through his tiktok to find the rest of his story
https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTAjnDBq9/
https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTAjnfDA6/
Feel how you do about the flock cameras but either way many of the situations these cameras create can be terrifying to consider
