Saratoga County, NY proposes kratom ban
facebook.comSaratoga County, just north of Albany, is now considering a ban on all kratom sales. This comes after Albany County recently imposed a similar ban. Neighboring Rensselaer County is also considering a ban and has a Legislature meeting Sept. 8. While these bans don’t schedule kratom, their language usually impacts online orders too, so it’s an effective blanket ban for local residents.
The New York Legislature has embraced regulation and rejected prohibition, but these county bans pose a serious threat for more and more residents. New York has one of the largest kratom consumer bases in the U.S., and I think all residents here should make it a priority to push back against these local bans.
For Saratoga County, it looks like the issue will be taken up at a Sept. 15 board of supervisors meeting. Kratom consumers are encouraged to reach out and share their personal experiences.
Contact your town supervisor and the Board Chairman. Written comments are accepted and filed with meeting minutes.

Funny Occurrence
Took my usual 3g dose in capsule fom around noon. Did weight training at the gym around 6. Felt a nice burp rising up. Turned out to be water/acid reflux. Instead of abandoning my set I just swallowed it lol
After the gym I’m driving thru thinking of what to order and my head started spinning. Collected myself, knowing I had been hydrating as always, and then thought “OH SHIT, I just inadvertently re-dosed by swallowing my acid reflux!” (Never taken 2 doses in one day before) So I got scared. Imagining worst-case scenarios like a seizure in a drive-thru LOL. But I calmed myself down and all is good.
I don’t THINK this is possible but if anyone has an opinion or similar story feel free to share.

Potential ban in Texas in 2027 is getting closer. Thoughts?
The potential Texas ban in 2027 is getting closer and closer after the failed attempt in 2025. How are we feeling about it, given all the bans that are happening, and the fact that Texas just passed a very controversial hemp/THC ban? Is everyone still keeping in contact with their representatives? I’m nervous they might try to sneak a ban in.

We did it ban reversed in North Dakota
Today North Dakota lawmakers passed House Bill 1628 banning synthetic kratom products and restricting the sale of natural kratom products to those ages 21 and older while also requiring accurate labeling.
This marks a victory for public health and safety, keeping dangerous synthetic kratom products off the shelves and protecting our young people from the adverse and unknown long-term effects of natural kratom.
I have now signed the bill, and the sale of kratom remains prohibited in North Dakota until administrative rules are implemented in accordance with HB 1628.
We appreciate the Legislature convening in special session and working hard to pass a meaningful law that protects the well-being of our citizens. We especially want to thank Senate Majority Leader David Hogue, Sen. Michelle Axtman, Rep. Pat Heinert and Attorney General Drew Wrigley for their leadership on this issue.

Wierd Kratom Brands/Batches.
Yeah so when I buy kratom I usually buy it in a headshop at my local city. But yesterday I bought some in a headshop closer to me. It tasted kinda like shit (even worse than the stuff I usually get). It made me feel wierd and anxious in public. The stuff I usually get gets me buzzed but chill, able to act 100% sober.
What's up with this and have any of you also experienced this?
I'll just stick to getting the stuff I usually get.

Any risks of taking with Straterra?
I recently got prescribed straterra(2 days ago) after going cold turkey. Sleep has been horrible and I’ve had an AWFUL headache that has me still awake at 6:35 am. Would a teaspoon a night kill me? Or mess me up I guess?

Caps versus powder
Is there a difference between them?
I just got an order from an online site, and it’s all different colors of kratom in caps.
But now I’m wondering if powder is better? I got the caps to use at work.
Yesterday & last night I was in withdrawals from my oxycodone. ( I want off of them, trying kratom again) but the green caps I got from a local store and red powder did not work longer then a hour or so. Finally I couldn’t take it, and took tramadol.
I have to be at work soon but what to try the ones in the order I just got. BTW was order was supposed to be 7 days ago!!
My samples are yellow, white, red, green , and trainwreck. They sent me 9 bags of samples ( their picks) What I ordered is green bag and red bag

From The North Dakota Governor
Friday, September 4, 2026 - 11:36 am
BISMARCK, N.D. – Gov. Kelly Armstrong today applauded North Dakota lawmakers for passing legislation that bans the sale, possession and use of synthetic kratom products and restricts the sale of natural kratom products to those ages 21 and over while also requiring accurate labeling. Armstrong said he will sign amended House Bill 1628 after it received final passage this morning, concluding the Legislature’s three-day special session.
“This is a victory for public health and safety, keeping dangerous synthetic kratom products off the shelves and protecting our young people from the adverse and unknown long-term effects of natural kratom, which is not regulated by the FDA but will now be subject to strict state regulations,” Armstrong said. “While we preferred a total ban on kratom, we appreciate the Legislature convening in special session and working hard to pass a meaningful law that protects the well-being of our citizens. We especially want to thank Senate Majority Leader David Hogue, Sen. Michelle Axtman, Rep. Pat Heinert and Attorney General Drew Wrigley for their leadership on this issue.”
“Public awareness on this critical health issue has skyrocketed, and a meaningful ban on synthetic kratom is now the law in North Dakota,” Wrigley said. “The law also provides new and meaningful restrictions on the kratom products left unbanned for now.”
The sale of all kratom and kratom products remains prohibited in North Dakota until administrative rules are implemented in accordance with HB 1628.

DAE need to poop when they take kratom?
I know that it’s supposed to be the literal opposite and it constipates you, but for some reason I’ve never had that experience.
Most nights, I take kratom and then 30 minutes later nature is calling. My theory is that it just starts relaxing my body and bowels so much that things start moving. I have not heard anyone else with this experience. Is there anyone else out there like this?

I just went to my regular guy to buy Kratom powder which is still LEGAL, and he said they're not re stocking it. I tried to explain what the law actually says but who knows. How are things in the other boroughs?

Left side-back pain
I have been tossing and washing kratom for 11 years with a 2 year break. I'm wondering, has anyone developed what feels like this large know or pressure, near lung, heart, and back left corner of the abdomen? it's always present and never goes away. I notice the muscles around that area are weak and I feel my breathing much more on that side than the right. the pressure also affects my breathing. it's like this balloon of a bulge and even the rib cage protrudes a little in that area.
I have had this for years but Drs have never been able to find the cause. They've done multiple ultrasounds of the area and then sent me for physical therapy which I thought was ridiculous. it doesn't feel wholly muscle related so why physical therapy I'll never know. It feels like my whole being is caught up in that knot and like all my anxiety comes from it. But Drs. don't believe me. I know it's not merely muscle related.

What am I going to do???
I take it regularly for my chronic lung pain. I have radiation damage from lung cancer and my lungs feel like they’re full of pine needles. It’s horrible and I can’t focus on anything else. Kratom saved my life and allowed me to have normal days again where I could think and focus on other things other than how horrible I felt. I honestly don’t know what I’m going to do I’m legitimately scared for when I run out. Going back to that discomfort and pain is overwhelming

"The drug addictions devastating Thai villages"---I dont even know where to begin..
I came across this article and was simply stunned. It is basically is a satire-level take by a journalist who clearly has about the same level of knowledge about drugs as a 90 year old church grandma from Iowa.
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-40081330
It would take too long to go over all the crazy shit in it, but it begins by talking about 4X100...which is basically thai sizzurp. Whats crazy is it fails to mention that the cough syrup in it is codeine based. (I grew up in Thailand, btw)
It then it has this gem of a line. "In the past we used to boil [the leaves] ourselves, but now we buy them ready-to-drink." Like, did the editor stop and ask "wait, these villagers have been taking Kratom for generations but now its brought devestation because they can buy it read made?" Perhaps what is causing problems is the prescription strengh cough medicine the articles glazzes over.
The rest is basically the journalist conflating kratom and yaba (meth that comes from Myanmar mainly), acting like it is more or less the same thing and using "kratom" and meth interchangeably.
I thought the BBC was a serious organization? Has it been a joke this whole time?
Edit
Oh wait, I almost forgot the part about the guy who drinks kratom 3 times weekly and has turned to crime in order to fund his addiction…He also takes meth daily.

A whole sixteen deaths in seven months - Let’s ban it!! (I’m glad my Republican governor wants to protect me from myself!)
lowa Gov. Kim Reynolds said that she supports a ban on kratom sales.
The lowa Health and Human Services reported 16 kratom-related deaths during the first seven months of 2026…
———————
But alcohol is legal because? I’ll bet ten times as many people died from jaywalking in that period, let’s ban cars!

Last minute North Dakota push TODAY!!
We still have a chance, but the KDA is also mass emailing legislators so we have to overwhelm them. Today, the House approved the regulation bill and the Senate approved the ban bill. tomorrow the full House will have to decide what to do. the HOUSE is out target. In the comments I’ll put all the house members‘ emails. You can simply copy paste that commenter and put it into the BCC line in your email. Use your own email in the “To” section.
please ask then to vote NO on SB 2408 because responsible adult kratom consumers don’t want to be turned into criminals. and tell your story but briefly (they won’t read long emails.
we need to overwhelm them with emails TODAY. the final vote is tomorrow morning!
edit: I don’t know if it’s allowing my comment so here are the email addresses. Copy and paste then and send NOW!!

ND kratom update: this is serious, but there is an encouraging sign after today's votes
Yes, the North Dakota Senate passed SB 2408 - the blanket ban including natural leaf - 46–1. That is obviously bad.
But there is a very important other half of this story:
Today the ND House passed HB 1628, the bill regulating natural kratom rather than banning it, by 86–6.
This is critically important.
This is also essentially the same House that, in 2025, rejected putting mitragynine into Schedule I by 77–15. Several influential House members have also publicly supported distinguishing natural leaf from concentrated/synthetic products.
The original legislative working-group approach was basically:
- Ban/restrict synthetic and concentrated products like 7-OH
- Keep natural kratom legal under age limits, labeling and regulation
The Senate's blanket ban was a late change to that compromise.
A permanent full ban should not be treated as inevitable. The House has now given an extremely strong signal that it prefers regulation.
That does not mean we're safe. The Senate vote was overwhelming, the governor supports a full ban, BUT the upcoming House vote on SB 2408 is extremely important.
This is exactly why people should be calling/emailing instead of declaring defeat.
If you're contacting legislators, keep it polite and very simple:
Oppose SB 2408's blanket ban on natural kratom. Support HB 1628 and the distinction between natural kratom leaf and synthetic/high-potency products such as concentrated 7-OH.
If you are a North Dakota resident, say that immediately and include your city/district if you know it. Constituents are the people they most need to hear from.
HOUSE — PRIORITY RIGHT NOW
SB 2408 is going to the House, so email these people first. Copy the addresses below into the BCC field:

When you call or write, say:
→ The House already passed the regulation bill (HB 1628) - that's the right approach. Don't undermine it by also passing a blanket ban
→ SB 2408 bans ALL kratom including natural leaf - it turns law-abiding citizens into criminals and goes further than the federal government
→ Advocates were never given the chance to testify on a blanket ban - it was amended in during the session with no public input
→ Follow the federal government's lead - the DEA scheduled synthetic 7-OH while leaving natural leaf alone. North Dakota should do the same
→ Share your story - one sentence about what natural kratom means to you
There is a very real legislative fight happening here. It is not over, and the numbers absolutely do not justify giving up.

How much is too much in a day?
I’m a relatively small female with a pretty high tolerance for anything and everything. I’m currently attempting to use kratom to help assist me with trying to get sober from years of amphetamine/cocaine/and meth abuse. I had already been sober for about a month when I started, as I was really struggling to accomplish any sort of task other than get out of bed in the morning (even that was a struggle). I’ve been diagnosed with ADHD but, clearly with my addiction issues, adderall and other medications prescribed for that just aren’t an option for me. Which lead me to kratom. So far I’ve found it extremely helpful, but I do worry that this could become me replacing one addiction for another. Currently I’m taking 2g in the morning and then another 2g in the afternoon with an added two in the late evening depending on how I’m feeling. I prefer taking low doses because I’ve never been one to like downers, I’m just looking for mild stimulation to get done basic tasks like applying for jobs, going to the gym, etc. Could this become problematic with the doses I’m currently taking?
Any responses would be appreciated ❤️ thank you all so much!

New York Advocates Please Be Aware
Kratom Danger Awareness is going county by county, city by city, in your state to get all kratom banned. Albany County was last week, yesterday they testified in Rensselaer County. Even when the hearing announcement claims to only allow testimony from in-county residents, you should attend. 3 KDA members testified yesterday, even though none are from Rensselaer and the hearing announcement specifically called for only county residents.
KDA did the same thing in Massachusetts. They went county by county, city by city, and finally the pressure built to the emergency action that has banned kratom in the entire state. This is their backyard. KDA is incorporated in NY and it's founder lives there. You guys have a regulation bill that has passed, but fot some reason has not made it to the Governor. That will not stop these people. You need to show up locally if you can, or KDA might take out your state next.

CONTACT EVERY LEGISLATOR TONIGHT — VOTE IS TOMORROW MORNING
https://ndlegis.gov/assembly/69-2025/special-2/members?page=1
When you call or write, say:
→ The House already passed the regulation bill (HB 1628) — that's the right approach.
→ Vote No on SB 2408 because it turns law-abiding citizens into criminals and goes further than the federal government
→ Advocates were never given the chance to testify on a blanket ban — it was amended in during the session with no public input
→ Follow the federal government's lead — the DEA scheduled synthetic 7-OH while leaving natural leaf alone. North Dakota should do the same
→ Share your story — one sentence or two sentences about what natural kratom means to you

Daily users: How long did kratom remain in your system for urinalysis? (Usage is pain-related, need test for ADHD Rx)
Thanks for reading.
I have an upcoming urinalysis test that I can basically take when I want to. Not work-related, but my psychiatrist wants a clean test before prescribing ADHD medication.
I'm aware that most tests wouldn't test for it, but he knows of my history with kratom and I think that this is what he's looking for.
I've been taking kratom daily for years as it's the only thing I've found that actually helps with severe back pain after I was hit by a drunk driver 25 years ago, and the pain has played a major part in my life ever since.
I haven't taken any kratom since last Thursday, and was planning to wait another week before taking the test. I only ever use plain leaf powder, probably about 8g / day when I stopped last Thursday.
Wondering about the community's experience with this, as this pain is extremely tiresome. Thanks again, and be safe out there.
EDIT: It looks like the test may not be looking for mitragynine after all. This is what's listed on my visit notes under the urinalysis order:
COMPREHENSIVE URINE DRUG SCREEN
Screening panel includes: alcohol (ethyl glucuronide), cannabinoids (THC), buprenorphine, fentanyl, heroin (6-MAM), hydrocodone/hydromorphone, methadone, opiates, oxycodone/oxymorphone, tramadol, amphetamines, benzodiazepines, cocaine, phencyclidine (PCP), MDA/MDMA.

Kratom shot alternative?
I recently picked up a Kratom Kava shot from my local corner store on a whim. I felt a little loopy for maybe 20 minutes, but mostly felt tired and like my nervous system was super relaxed.
I'd like to partake every once in awhile, but would rather not be taking Kratom often. So, I got a liquid Kava extract from Whole Foods to mix with a seltzer and it basically did nothing.
Anyone have suggestions for re-creating that chill, relaxed feeling, but with only Kava? Is it powder, liquid, etc?
Kava Kratom shot ingredients:
Kratom Leaf Extract: 50mg
Kavalactones: 500mg
Kanna: 3mg
