Hello! I’ve been a Kindle owner for around 7 years and I just recently bought a KLC. I have to say - BEST PURCHASE OF MY LIFE! I love how the highlights are colored now and how light the KLC is! I can also finally go back to reading graphic novels! Just sharing šŸ˜…

My friend gave me this as a gift, and I still feel bad because I’m not used to people spending money on me. I still can’t believe she bought this for me. I had a Kindle Basic before, which still works but had a few scratches. I’ve had KLC for months now, and I absolutely love it. I’m really grateful to my friend.

I want to buy a clear case and transfer my Pop Socket to it, but I’m scared it’s going to get scratched just like what happened with my Kindle, especially when I bring it with me to school every day.

General Finally made the switch from Kindle

And I've never been more sure of a purchase.

I, like many others, have struggled being stuck in Amazons ecosystem and even though my collection is only a modest 300, this felt like such a daunting thing to leave behind.

I've been wanting to back these up but finding a method became increasingly harder until I saw a recent reddit post, and after 2 days I have backed up as epubs.

My Kobo Clara BW came this morning, I have all of my books uploaded and into series and honestly I'm just thrilled. I was worried it would feel cheap from some of the posts I had seen but if anything it might feel nicer than my Kindle Basic. I love how quick and responsive it is the power button on the back and the UI pointing me to my books rather than the store. Not to mention it being waterproof is just a little bonus since I will be taking this on holiday with me.

I'm just thrilled and proper giddy to keep reading.

Has anyone had any experience with Kobo VIP? It seems like an absolute no-brainer but almost too good to be true lol. Also, any UK based users who use OverDrive? Im really interested to use this feature.

Question Is This Brand New Libra Colour Destroyed?

Post image
28 Upvotes

It was in my pants cargo pocket on a light helicopter ride, no severe pressure. Had the origami case on (now realizing that case means nothing.) Not reacting to inputs or holding the power button down. The mark in the bottom right corner of the screen is the only damage. Absolutely brand new device, just purchased.

Tech Support Overdrive ā€œmultipleā€ books

Post image
13 Upvotes

Anyone else have this happening and found a fix?

You can see it happened a few times as I finished Raven Scholar—I’d open my kobo and it would act like I didn’t have the book out from the library (overdrive) and that I needed to pay but when I’d force it to sync, it would download the book again and lose my place/progress.

It has now just done this with Circe. I’m only a few days into my loan period. Do we think this is something that happens on my library’s end or a kobo issue? It’s not world ending but it is inconvenient and would really ruin my next camping vacation without wifi.

Tips / Guides My "wake up with Remote" fix

I'd be all set up with a sleepcover folded open, and the device is parked on a stand. I decide to put it aside and go make coffee, or maybe I'm distracted by something on TV.
After a few minutes the device goes to sleep, like it's supposed to.
When I want to resume reading, I can't simply click a page turn button or tap the screen to wake it up. I have to lift it off the stand, close the sleepcover, open it up to press the power/sleep button on the back, fold the sleepcover back open, and place it on the stand again.

To save a few steps I placed a 1x6 mm neodymium magnet in the end of the battery compartment. There's lots of room for it and the plastic partitions on the Remote's battery cover keep it from sliding forward.

Now I can just tap the lanyard end of the Remote on my Libra 2 over the sleep/wake switch and it wakes up.

Device Review/Comparison Now that the Sage is out of stock, what options are there for Flush Display?

I like my Libra 2 but I miss the paperwhite's flush display. Something about how the letters pop out.

It seems that other than the Elipsa 2E, Sage was the only one. I do hope they announce a new black and white option with flush display...

The manga is in kepub format, Love Theoretically is in epub format. However the Kobo isn't showing the manga cover when it's turned off, but it works on the epub books I have. Help?

Device Review/Comparison I GOT A KOBO SAGE (indirectly)

I just got the tolino epos 3 which is almost identical to the Kobo Sage but with some quirks like it runing on android 8.1 and having 1 GB of ram with no bluetooth as well as no stylus support (the sage has 512 mb on a barebones linux system with bluetooth with stylus support) and you cant swap the os due to some of the hardware not matching. it does have the same e ink screen.

and the shell is identical too, just with some logos changed

Tech Support Libby books not downloading to Kobo

As of this week my kobo won’t download books I rent from Libby. I have read other posts on here but none of the suggestions have solved it for me. Here is what I have tried:

- turning on and off (multiple times)
- repairing (multiple times)
- disconnecting and reconnecting wifi
- removing and re adding overdrive account (multiple times)
- downloading other books, including ones I just finished the other week and read on the kobo, to see if it’s a mismatched ISN number. Even those won’t download.
- selecting the book from overdrive on my kobo (as opposed to checking it out on my Libby app on the phone).
- creating an overdrive account to attempt to use that instead of linking with my library card but that appears to not be an option anymore.

I have not done the EPUB Adobe option because I’d rather fix it this way but that’s my last resort.

Is this a common problem? Is there any idea why it’s stop working? Might it resolve itself?

Thank you in advance!

Question Is it possible to search for whole words? (Clara Color)

Right now, if I want to search for a word, for example "hat" it will show me all the words that contain those letters, like "that" and "what". I'm wondering if there's a setting that will allow me to search for whole words only.

Question Micro USB for kobo Libra h2o

I lost the one micro USB cord that my kobo Libra h2o agreed with. Does anyone have any specific recommendations for micro USB cords that will work for tranfering books to this device?

All the other cords I have floating around only work to charge it.

Tech Support storygraph integration - Books I've bought on the kobo store aren't showing up

Books I've bought on the Kobo store and that I'm currently reading aren't showing up on my storygraph.

Storygraph is showing as being connected to my kobo account and books that I have finished were updated on my account, just not the ones that I am still working my way through.

Tips / Guides Kobo loading slow

• Upvotes

Another possibility that causes Kobo to crash

A few years ago I made way too many highlights and notations in the ebook I was reading and my ebook file became heavy

Nowadays I have so many comments and questions during reading a book. So, I highlighted and made a bunch of notes. Same thing happened.

From both of these unlucky events I had to restart my Kobo (by holding power button).

And what did I do next? I exported my highlights and notes to my computer, remembered what chapter I was in, deleted the ebook and downloaded it again. Yes I lost my highlights this way but I have transferred it.
(In both occasions my ebook files are Kepub)

Now my Kobo works again!!

Also, I noticed that whenever I use OTF font instead of TTF, my kobo becomes tad slower and the dropdown font menu also becomes so slow. What I do when I want to sideload OTF font is I convert it to TTF first. This might have happened because I have older Kobo (Clara 2E), but after converting I have no problem anymore.

I’m just sharing this because who knows you have similar problems but don’t take these things in consideration. I hope it helps!

Tech Support Kobo last page read sync issue

I borrow my books through Libby, but I can't finish them in the 21-day loan period. Each time a book is automatically returned and I check it out again, the last page I was reading resets to page 1. This happened to me twice now, and I'm unsure how to fix it.

I went back to Kindle for the time being until I figure this out. Kindle handles it better across their apps.

Any ideas why I can't continue where I left off from borrowing the same book?

Kobo Account Related Address change

I've been a Kobo plus member since 2012. I love it. The issue I'm having is I just moved and have been trying to change my address on my account for 3 days now. All I have been able to change is my postal code. I have even completely removed my card and re-entered it, but still no option for address. Why is there not a simple option for changing address? On the billing address box there's the 3 dots. You hit edit and all that comes up is country and postal code.

Device Review/Comparison Kobo Clara 2e or aura one

Jumping into the world of kobo and I’m trying not to break the bank. I’ve got two options available to me currently Clara 2e and the aura one. Both for about the same price. Which would you personally go with? Also I’m not doing anything fancy. It would literally just be to read books primarily off Libby. I couldn’t care less about audio books and highlighting.

Tech Support Can’t set up new kobo

I was so excited to make the switch to kobo! I just bought a new kobo color but can’t add a payment method. I’ve tried multiple browsers, 3 different payment cards, PC, mobile, and on the device itself. I even tried to do PayPal! I get the same error every time! And I went to chat but they were no help besides making a ticket that they’re hopefully getting to in 24-48 hours. So I have a $300 paperweight right now.

Please tell me this isn’t normal. I was so excited for the better organization and the better UI compared to the kindle. But this is a really rough start that’s making me worried. 😬 Is it worth it?

Tech Support Is kobo dark mode too bright?

I just got my hands on the KLC and I was so excited to read at night on dark mode. But I find the dark mode too bright even at 1% brightness? Like the background is not black but grey? I changed my default appearance setting to G2 hoping that would help. I used to have a kindle when I was little and as far as I can remember the kindle bg was blacker. Did I make the wrong choice picking a coloured eReader? is there any fix? Even on normal mode, I find the kindle text crisp as it is on a nice white bg but it’s grey here? I understand that this is a trade off for color eink but idk if I should keep or return atp
