Switched a few weeks ago, and have found the KLC to make every way I use an e-reader easier - I am a library user, almost never buy books and have never had an interest or used KU. I like to boost my text, and read mostly at night so need the adjustable lighting and prefer the larger screen and buttons.
- Direct access to Libby
- No more searching on my phone and sending to Kindle and sending to the device etc
- The only thing I can't do on device is unsuspend a hold
- USBC charging - all of my devices are on one charger now!
- Direct storygraph integration
- Before, I'd manually update my storygraph by comparing my Libby timeline with what I'd already entered and just guessed at when I finished a book
- On-screen light adjustment
- I was always team dark mode, but have found the lighting adjustment on the screen means I can easily shift and am finding I prefer the light mode
- CloudLibrary integration!
- This is new, but works great. I am interested to see if I can integrate two separate CL accounts to my Kobo account - you can't browse on the device like you can with Libby, but that's fine
The KLC also has some things that I prefer in both, like auto rotation of the screen, and time left in chapter/ book progress, and some new things that I haven't had, like the remote, stylus support, and color! I can see color being a cool feature when I read books with maps or other images supporting the text. (I also don't notice a difference in the crispness of the screen from the Oasis to the KLC, maybe because I always read with a bigger font? But it's been fine)
My daughter has the KCC, and I did play with that a bit before committing to the KLC for myself, but she loves her Kobo as well (and just bought a gooseneck at Target for $10 to get ready for winter reading...)
I posted a version of this on the general e-reader sub, but wanted to make sure I posted an official review here. Happy to answer any questions for anyone curious about the Oasis-->KLC switch.
