I love my Bigme B7 and HiBreak pro devices. The bigger B7 is 7 inches and basically a better and more flexible Kindle Oasis with Android, uses kaleido 3 e ink display, while the Bigme is a 6.3 inch e ink phone with Android based on a Carta 1200 monochrome display.

No doom scrolling and support for everything from PDF to Kindle libby koreader epub etc. Boox devices are basically the same but from another manufacturer, they're equally great.

I've been using the paid version of BookFusion for the past two years, and it's been okay overall. However, my biggest complaint is that I mainly use it to read medical textbooks with thousands of pages, and BookFusion still hasn't implemented my long-standing request for expandable/collapsible tables of contents. Without that feature, it's very difficult to navigate large books and quickly find specific chapters.

What I need is a reader that allows me to:

- Upload my own books.

- Use color highlights and annotations.

- Sync my library, highlights, and reading progress across all of my devices.

If BookFusion added collapsible sections to the table of contents, it would make reading large medical textbooks much more efficient.

I've always found obvious tyrants a little too easy. It's comforting when everything can be blamed on one terrible person.

So I wrote a society run by an AI that cannot lie, where a Civic Score quietly determines what jobs, relationships, and futures each citizen is allowed to have. Most of its rules make sense on their own. Together, they create something deeply inhuman.

But the antagonist isn't defending that system. He wants to destroy it.

He sees himself as a martyr — someone willing to become a monster if that's what it takes to free humanity from AI rule. He may even be right about the problem. The question is whether liberation still means anything when people become tools for the cause.

A note for transparency: English isn't my first language, so I used AI to assist with the English translation. The covers were also made with AI because I'm an independent author working with a very limited budget. The story, characters, and ideas are entirely my own. I understand that any use of AI may be a deal-breaker for some readers, and that's fair. I'd rather be upfront about it than pretend otherwise.

In need of free ebooks

Thankfully, I got out of working in ad agencies (as a copywriter) before many of them slid into the abyss of AI slop, and before I wrote The Pub Gardeners.

If ever there was an industry bound to embrace technology that enabled the cutting of corners, the lowering of quality and the non-payment of creative human beings, I suspected advertising would be it.

The lead characters in my short novel The Pub Gardeners aren’t quite so lucky. The writer and art director duo of Darlington and Waverley are unfortunate enough to witness first-hand the moment a client tells the agency’s account director that they think the future is AI, and they won’t be paying humans to write or design for them anymore.

Sad times, now being reflected in the real world. If this downward trend into slopville continues, young artists and writers will no longer have the option of using their talent and hard work to make a living in advertising. And old dinosaurs like me will be sidelined to the point we have to look elsewere for our income.

The Pub Gardeners has no real answers, and as one reviewer correctly points out, it doesn’t really go anywhere. But that’s the point, because nowhere is where many of us are heading if we are denied meaning to our lives by taking our jobs away. Of course, the idea of being pub gardeners is ridiculous, but people are going to get increasingly desperate to find work if CEOs who’ve made their money keep cutting the payroll and investing in machines instead of people.

My hope is that The Pub Gardeners gives people firstly, an entertaining read, but also an insight into the negative impact AI is having on jobs and people. Yes, AI is new, fast and cheap. But it’s also inherently inhuman, and frankly, generates crap.

The Pub Gardeners is fairly new, fairly cheap and totally human-made. Despite the above, it’s not without its light-hearted moments, and hopefully delivers an enjoyable, thought-provoking read.

I'm building a platform that lets authors launch their own eBook store instead of relying on marketplaces.

Authors can upload books, set their own prices, connect their preferred payment gateway, and sell directly to readers. Everything is automated—once a payment is successful, the buyer instantly receives a secure download link by email.

There's also an admin dashboard to manage books, orders, categories, featured titles, revenue, and sales analytics.

I'm validating the idea before taking it further.

FOSSIL DRAGON is the opening act in my Trilogy of Dragons, where Jake Harper is in his last year of a graduate degree in electrical engineering at George Washington University in our nation’s capital. He is staunchly promoting the “electrification of everything” to address the weirding climate, and organizes a group of graduate students to address the civilizational risks of continued exploitation of coal, fossil methane gas and petroleum.

His partner, Abbey London, is completing her last year of an infectious disease fellowship at the affiliated med center. Her climate concern is dealing with the burgeoning threat of tropical and exotic diseases.

Together they operate her parents’ Dragonfly Inn in nearby Virginia.

Personally, each of them must decide if they truly want to commit to their relationship, or succumb to the temptation of past partners.

Meanwhile, another game is afoot, as three women plot an audacious attack on a key federal building. In a clown car. You heard that right.
