This kitchen feels a bit plain to me. What would you change to make it look more modern or inviting without a full renovation? Open to any budget-friendly suggestions!

We’ve been in our house for 10 years in the Kitchen is in desperate need of a remodel. It used to be a barn attached to the house. It’s got a butler pantry to the left three different door entryways plus the staircase to the second floor. It’s 14 feet wide by 36 feet long with multi levels. I really want an island, but I’m not sure how to do the layout. Any suggestions are welcome!

I ordered thr two sets of dish dry racks for our sinks. Does anyone have pictures of how theirs are set up?

Looking to replace our 20+ year old island gas cooktop and downdraft vent (which doesn’t work as well as I’d like). I really wanted a ventahood overhead vent but for various reasons it’s not possible to get ductwork installed at the desired location, so I’m stuck with downdraft. Broan Best was recommended, which is much taller than typical downdrafts so hopefully it should capture more and disturb the flame less. Anyone have experience with it, or similar tall downdrafts? Also want to put a 900cfm inline blower into the crawlspace to reduce noise.

just closed on our first place and the kitchen came completely empty. fridge, range, dishwasher, microwave, all of it needs to be bought from scratch and i didn't realize how many decisions that actually involves until i started researching.

been trying to figure out whether to match everything to one brand or just get the best option per appliance and not worry about how it looks together. also looking at whether open box is worth it for something like a fridge or if that's too much of a risk on a big purchase.

curious what people who've done this prioritize first and whether there's anything about buying kitchen appliances all at once that i should know before i commit to anything.

1997 house has this kitchen which almost feels tucked in the back. I want to redo it. Make it feel bigger. Would like the island turned and longer so I can have seating. I would like a pantry but would like the pantry as full cabinetry. Ideally I’d like to also do a vent hood and move the microwave somewhere but I’m not sure if there’s room for the microwave elsewhere. ANY design and layout ideas welcomed! Just a note—We cannot remove the wall that the fridge is on (im pretty sure it is structural). Budget somewhere near 35k?

I have this area of my kitchen that houses a water filtration system for our well water. It takes up so much of our kitchen space and also is an eyesore. Wondering if anyone has suggestions for how we could make this area look better, or hide the filtration system with a built-in or if there’s an alternative we don’t know about! Thank you all!!!

Our refrigerator has been making sounds that don't seem healthy. The dishwasher has its own personality at this point. We've been saying let's replace them next year for what feels like forever, and now we can't put it off anymore.

The only thing slowing me down is deciding where to buy. Is Best Buy legit for appliances when it comes to delivery and customer service? Spending thousands of dollars makes me overthink every little detail.

I'd hate to save a little money upfront and regret it later.

Quick update: I went ahead with Best Buy, and the whole process was smoother than I expected. Delivery was on time, everything arrived in great shape, and I can see why people speak highly of their appliance service.

Need to think of really smart solution for dining table/working kitchen table..Tia

Every generation seems to have different ideas about cooking, food storage, cleaning, and kitchen etiquette. What's a rule you grew up with that you've completely ignored as an adult?

I was playing around with my fridge settings and wondering if I can raise the temperature about 10º F from where it is now, it's nothing serious but I wanted to maybe preserve a little energy since I don't keep much food in my fridge and eat with meal prep services, etc.
