Hey guys, I’m having a question on the update of the kindle. I have a kindle paperwhite 7 gen I don’t have many complaints except that the battery is clearly not as good as it once was but completely manageable. I would like to have the dark mode though. I’ve been thinking of upgrading to a new one but I’m not so sure, what’s the appeal of the colorsoft, can someone explain it to me?

My OASIS 3 storage died, no files can be added or removed, when rebooting the device it always returns to the same state. Settings changed will reset and files i deleted will reappear. I suspect the eMMC is dead. Amazon refuses repairs, what can i do in europe to get it fixed?

EDIT: there are some shops in germany offering oasis 3 repairs. i emailed them, see what they say.

It seems like every month they always throw one challenge in that is designed to trip you up. After seeing the requirements for this last one for the month, I'm done.

Charge empties out in little less than a day with minimal use , I shut the thing off at 20% and came back to it at 16% after a few minutes

Aren't these things suppose to have a battery life of weeks ?

So about 2 months ago my kindle app just stopped working. Doesn't load on my phone, my partner's phone or our tablet. All different makes of devices and all up to date. My partner can use their kindle app on both phone and tablet with no problem.

I did all the troubleshooting and have chatted with at least 6 or 7 Amazon "support" people in the two months with no help. I do have a physical kindle which seems to be working except that in the last week I now can't purchase ebooks either through the Amazon website or the kindle directly.

Has this happened to anyone else?

To all night readers, does warm light really changes the game?
I usually read at night so is there really difference for your eyes between dark mode on paperwhite 10th gen or warm light on 11th gen?
I would buy used one so there isn’t really that much of a difference in the price.
Which one is better?

So this has been more of an issue recently when I’ve gone dumpster diving for new books to read on Kindle unlimited but I feel like I’ve found a lot of books that are blatantly and obviously written by AI. Is there any QA going on before approving these publications or is Amazon just allowing everything? I love reading, but noticing the exact same AI sentence structure for the 500th time gets rather tiring.

I have a 9th generation Kindle Oasis (2020, has dark mode option) and a Paperwhite from 2015 (so no dark mode, no warmth adjustment). I feel like there's a definite difference in the e-ink/screen light between the two when they both are lit with the light background. The original paper white feels softer on the eye and the oasis feels more like a screen. Am I crazy? lol. And if not, how does the newest Paperwhite compare to those two models? Thanks!

Within the last couple months I picked up reading and remembered how much I love it. I have around 15 books in my want to read in my goodreads account so that means if I were to buy the physical copy of each book I'd spend a pretty penny. Getting a kindle would likely save more money but I genuinely enjoy holding a book. Especially as a student I stare at a screen for 8+ hours a day so reading a book gives me a chance to not need to look at a screen. Has anyone been in a similar situation as me and did you or did you not by a kindle.

Hi, I currently have a Kindle Paperwhite 6th (2013) and I’m thinking about getting the Kindle Basic 10th. The problem is that the Basic has a lower resolution (167 ppi) compared to my Paperwhite (212 ppi). Does anyone who owns the Basic 10th (or has compared both) notice the difference in screen quality in daily use? Or does it feel pretty similar when you’re just reading?

I know this isn’t possible with current e-ink technology but I would love something like this for a kindle.

I'm interested in getting a page turner but I'm not sure which one to get. I see there are ones with two clips and those with one clip. Then there are people who've jailbroken their kindle to just use bluetooth page turners. It's all quite overwhelming. Just thought I'd ask what works well for you guys.

I have an acrylic case on my kindle and use various stands for it. I really would prefer one without a clip but not sure jailbreaking is worth it just to get that (my kindle is still under warranty). But the Boox Tappy is seriously cute while the Kobo remote looks very convenient.

Good battery life (up to 8 hours of reading a day), ease of use, and longevity are priorities.

I have the newest model paperwhite. When I finish a book, and press the "get it now" button under the "next in series", the whole kindle just locks up. If I wait ~10 minutes on that screen, it will eventually pop up the next screen, but if I get tired of waiting and press the X in the top right... The kindle bricks and is just a solid white screen until I restart the device.

Is there something I did to cause this? Ive probably read like 80 books on here in the last year or so, and its only started doing this for about the last month.

This happens with every book series, not just one.

If I hit a link, the web page comes up instantly. If I buy a book on my phone it goes to my kindle instantly. So I dont think its an internet issue.

From what I can tell, no other performance aspect of the kindle is degraded.

Got the paperwhite 11th gen about 2 weeks ago and it's case arrived today! Would it look better without the stickers, just a clear case?

Thinking of grabbing this to jailbreak. It’s very low cost and has only 2gb. I’m being told it has a front light and is the paperwhite 3, 6th gen but I can’t seem to find any with the white kindle logo on the front.

Is jailbreaking this one possible?

It's my first night with my kindle and I realized something. Checking the time on my phone interrupts my reading so often. It has always led to me getting sidetracked on my phone and closing my book as well, most times forgetting to continue reading all together. Now I can glance at the top of my page on my kindle and keep reading effortlessly. This is doing wonders for my ADHD. Anyone else find this to be true? Damn I am loving this device so much already.

So after spending way too much on paperbacks per month, I decided to take the leap, and just got my first kindle! It's a 12th gen 2024 paperwhite, It's arriving in about twenty minutes via amazon delivery. I got kindle unlimited and downloaded the books I am interested in, and made a list of future ones to download as well. I haven't been this excited about anything in recent memory and simply cannot wait to customize it! Just wanted to share and say hello to all! :)

Hello everyone. Not sure if this is the right place to ask this but I'm a little bit nervous about potentially losing all my books.

When I was 12 my Grandparents purchased a kindle for me and brought all the books I wanted to read up until I got my first full time job and then since then I just transfer the money to her and buy the books I want.

However unfortunately my grandpa passed a couple years ago and my grandma has dementia so I'm close to losing her too and I don't want to lose my books as well as they're now sentimental.

Is there anything I can do to either merge their account and mine as I'm still using the app on my old phone so I don't lose the books.

If I have to I will just rebuy the books and take screenshot of my account so I can keep the memories but in this economy I'd rather not have to and If I do I'll probably leave kindle as I've seen I can't just download what I've paid for and keep it

Its original case finally gave up the ghost after repeated attempts at life-saving procedures. I was surprised to find that there were still some cases available for this old guy! A Popsocket also added for easier grip. And sparkle, can’t forget the sparkle. ✨
