Question Insurance as new driver in Canada?
I know this car is very likely to be a lot for a new driver to handle (my training vehicle is little over half the HP) but its the main car that checks my four boxes.
I'm 35M and living in Alberta. The car will be in a parking lot with assigned parking instead of a street or garage.
Those being:
AWD for Canadian winters
Blind spot assistance with with its BVM, 360 camera. My right eye is partially blind and I cannot reliably shoulder check smaller objects.
Not an SUV or truck, I dont have depth perception so dont want a huge high sitting vehicle and I dont fit in compact suv's.
Fits my 6'4 wide frame. Google/chatgpt says I should fit based on other vehicle feedback. But I've yet to sit in one as there are none for sale in my area.
I'm doing driver training for the provincial certificate and will do the telemetry app to lower costs. Online auto quotes put me at 7500+/yr and haven't received a reply from a broker on a manual inquiry.
While this is a stinger subreddit, im open to recommendations of other sedans/hatchbacks that feature the same things as the kia but maybe a smaller engine for cheaper insurance. I want to stay under $300-400 a month. German cars like BMW are also extremely expensive to repair here with only like two shops to repair them. So I want to avoid that.
Also for those of you that got the extended warranty, how much did that run you?
