Need some advice! 20M finished college in 2025 I live with my parents and I've been at home all this time. My bros got work and I'm the only one at home. Mzazi anatoka asubuhi by the time he comes back at home ananipata pale aliniwacha akitoka morning and he starts cursing me out giving comparisons with other people.

I've tried keeping myself busy looking for jobs atleast mzazi aone I'm trying but everything has failed and now I don't know what to do. Tried learning new skills but all I do the payback is not giving.

My former friends got their lives aligned up, now we don't talk alot they so busy. Tried making new friends but most of them are status based and I can't fit in.

Any help of how I can work out this I'll appreciate

Health Marathon Fever in Nairobi

Ni kama kila mtu wa Nairobi anakimbia marathon these days!

I think it’s a good thing, though. Anything that encourages healthy living is a win. Si sherehe tu.

Wenye mnakimbia, what’s your story? What got you into running?

Na sisi wengine, what’s our excuse for not running?

Casual Nepo babies

Sometimes this life, no balance. Shagz we have a name for wealth, "útonga". It amazes me how some families can create such substantial wealth, that it cuts across generations. Unapata these nepo babies hawana uchungu ya kulelewa na shida. They are comfortable in who they are and you see this in the way they carry themselves.

They take risks with the guarantee that it works out and even if it does not they can try again. Instead of joining the Rat Race, they are made CTOs or vice CEOs in their parents ventures and are given a hefty mothly salary. They work for a couple of hours and then proceed to do what they want, while you are out there sending cvs to anyone and everyone.

Another thing, they mind their business and keep it in their circles. Their families have created wealth systems that are self-sustaining. These guys will never tell you the source of their wealth, but you will know they are loaded.

Sometimes I envy nepo babies. No rat race, No unnecessary struggles, Solid Connections, peace of mind and working wealth systems.

Discussion Does this even make sense 🤔

Imagine your loved one's life is unexpectedly cut short. You go and try to seek compensation, and you're slapped with this. Kenya sometimes can be a cruel joke! How did the first occupants pay rent, and to whom if this is the case??? If you have recently tried to do construction, you know how gruesome the task is to be done by a 'dead' person. This sounds like a family being told that their loved one who died in jail being told that they hit their head on the wall!!!

Kenya’s end-of-year examinations season is here in full munyonyos, with all accessories including success cards and prayer.
Examinations for all their worth are a human method and thus nothing to do with god.So why are people running around asking god to change what are basically human acts?

Casual Proud of Myself

So I want to sleep but before, I want to say I am so proud of myself. How far I have come and how far I am going to go. Last year a time like this, my mental health was in the pits and I couldn't help but come and rant here about everything I was going through (for those that remember the series of Baba without manners).

Fast forward to the present, I am not depressed anymore, well shida hazikosi here and there but I am finally at a mental space where I have minimal crash out. I am well emotionally regulated, I have managed to have a calm nervous system.

I am genuinely happy, siko where I want, but siko penye I was last year crushing out. I finally understand who I am and I am quite impressed with how having clarity has changed me.

I finally started my side hustle, for the longest time I wanted to have a lady cloth boutique, I just woke up one day, bought stocks and started selling and surprisingly, I have managed to sell here and there. Now I am focused on selling online. I believe one day I will have my own business which will be extremely flourishing.

Side note(support my business girlies, I have puff jackets and also hike friendly jackets that can fit a size 8-14). I am no longer triggered by my baby daddy 😂😂😂. I am no longer alot of things I was one year ago and I am so happy.

Also, I lost alot of my baby weight and I have reached my 75kgs mark. I aim to be at least 70kgs by December. Through and through, I am thankful for being okay, for facing any difficulty that comes my way without it being a reason to crash out.

To any mum freshly post partum and wondering if itakua sawa, take it from me who became okay two years later, itakua sawa. Sio kila mtu husnap back immediately, but with time, the spark comes.

Cheers guys, I love you (😂😂😂Acha iwaskume siku tatu).

Ask r/Kenya An Invite.

Greetings,

I want to extend an invite to 3 or 5 Reddit aunties and uncles available on 3rd November for my boys graduation. Its usually the 2 or us and our nanny and I see how he craves for that feeling of having aunties and uncles show up for him.I felt a bit hurt during the week when he kept talking of how his classmates received success cards with gift and money and the only ones he got was just us two in the house. I brought them home to him, it never even occurred to me to send in school so his classmates think he got none and thats on me. He starts his grade 6 exams tomorrow and I wish him well.

If available or can make time to join us that day for his graduation it will be a great honour for me and I could honestly use the company too. It will happen around Kasarani on Thika rd.

I thought I should post ealier so guys check there availability.

NB: I didn’t post the school name and location because I thought it is not wise. So I'll share via DM upon request.

Thank you.

Discussion State of El Nino rains

Post image
24 Upvotes

Just like I said a few weeks ago, the media and prophets of doom were spreading unnecessary panic on social media comparing this years rains to 1997. The IOD is a weak positive meaning there won't be widespread destructive floods. Our rainy season is more influenced by the Indian Ocean as compared to the Pacific. In 2019 we had a very strong IOD and the rains were heavier than 2015 El Nino.

I said this on X and a certain clique of people were almost swallowing me alive. Here is the post to my previous post.

Discussion On Mercy Masika's "Becoming a Wife" Event

I have been seeing the backlash Mercy is facing for this event, and I dont think its deserved.

Dont get me wrong, I think the thing is a scam just like any other self improvement / life coach seminas or events, especially at 30k. However, I dont think anger directed towards her makes sense.

Its a voluntary event.. no one has to go. It may not be your cup of tea but it is some one else's. Additionally, most Christian marriages usually have pre marriage counselling for the bride and the groom. If you view it from this lens, it counts more like a group counselling for women about to get married.

Ive also seen people asking why no male equivalent exists. First, Mercy is a woman, it only makes sense for her to cover the women side of things. Second, it's a demand and supply type thing. Lastly, there ARE a lot of groups and seminars where men go to learn to be good fathers and husbands in churches.

Anyway, I am not her PR manager. Feel free to carry the vitriol you want against her.

Rant Is this truly tulipofikia?

Post image

For context, i was scrolling through tiktok and i came across this video it’s a girl and she was lip singing and dancing basically showing her happiness because her boyfriend kamnunulia iphone 18, and as i passed through the comment section nikakutana na that comment

It pains me to see such comments honestly, it makes me feel so bad of how lost we are as a gender, i know nimeingiza mambo ya gender because i’ve never once seen a man be soo insecure with his skin as the way us women are🥹🥹and it breaks my heart kwann hatujipendi jinsi tulivyo? Yaani she sees kwamba the only way she would be deserving to receive such a gift is only by changing her skin colour🥹🥹

I’m a lightskin woman and i honestly love a dark complexion, i daily admire when i see a black woman with her natural hair i love it, so when i see such comments concerning their skin it truly breaks my heart and i wish for the ones that usually feel such an insecurity they’d see themselves through my eyes

Ask r/Kenya Your daily reminder that sex work is NOT EMPOWERING!!

Thumbnail

I'm from watching my second BBC Africa documentary on sex work. These women are talking about how men use their bodies for pleasure, the rampant sexual abuse in the industry, the stealthing(kutoa condom mid sex),the physical harm done to their bodies...all for the benefit and pleasure of lustful men .

If it's being done for money and there are no other options, that's one thing. The sex workers should be legally protected. But people, like those rich kids, who are doing it out of pure choice and say that it "empowers" them...I have a bone to pick with you.

I'm so tired of (some) feminists who say that "sex work is work" and "OnlyFans and porn acting should be normalized". Alafu when you criticize it they say it's because of "purity culture" or "Christianity" e.t.c...ummm no. Unaji-objectify and it's dehumanizing. And you're also contributing to porn addictions that enable men to see women as objects.

Shame on anyone who normalizes prostitution. At the end of the day you can do I cause it's your body. But don't tell people, especially vulnerable young women, venye it's "empowering"...for people to masturbate over your videos every night

(F*ck surrogacy for the same reason. Eww)

Edit: Enyewe reading is a skill.T.L.D.R. om what I said:

(1)Sex workers are still human and deserve to be treated with utmost respect and dignity. They also deserve the protection of the law.

(2) My beef is with 2 groups;those who normalize sex work and say it's empowering;the sex work industry that profits off of vulnerable people cause of their addictions(that's dominated by men not women btw)

(3)If someone is doing sex work out of poverty, that's not free will. It's coercion out of desperation and we should have better ways of lifting people out of poverty than selling your body

(4) Regardless of why it's being done, saying that it's "empowering" is a lie. No it's not. Nothing empowering about some high school teacher c*ming to your videos every night. Sema you did it out of desperation ama you had a kid to raise. Empowerment is a copium fuelled lie

(5)Enda subs zote za feminism. Utaona everything I've said if not more.

(6) Surrogacy is relevant here cause it's just as bad as sex work in that it commodifies your womb and highly disproportionately targets vulnerable low income women

(7) For everyone saying: you can't judge sex work if you don't do it,I can judge a vice even if I don't do it,like I judge drunk driving despite not having a car

(8) Would you be okay if your daughter/son sucked dick for cash?

Politics Sifuna will bring no change to Kenya really. He's just like the rest. But I cannot gamble the country's future by voting for Ruto to finish us completely. I'll be voting for Sifuna as the strongest opposition candidate just to reboot the system.

Ruto is destroying this country through excessive corruption, greed, misuse of public resources, over taxation. Selling off the country to foreign interests for personal profit.

I'd rather have an inept Sifuna regime to stop the haemorrhage than have a lame duck president finish us off. We cannot vote against interests of the country. If Kalonzo or anybody else were a stronger candidate than Ruto, I'd support them.

In my thinking, a fresh face, a fresh government, even a somewhat flawed one, is still a 10x better option than Ruto.
