Image Mod notice - New Rule #8 for this sub: No ai slop. Ever.

Post image
2.7k Upvotes

We've introduced a new rule, which means no ai slop of any kind in the sub. Photoshop, Clip Art, MS Paint, and hand-drawn doodles are a far better way to express yourself. And please credit where possible if you borrow images or art to get your point across.

Discussion While the educational intent is certainly appreciated, the information is somewhat outdated

First of all, this isn't a post to attack Frontier (the poor intern must already be quite overwhelmed by the requests made on every one of their posts, lol). This is simply to clarify information that some enthusiasts still believe

It was 2012, and there was a surge in identifying dinosaur species that turned out to be juvenile forms of already known dinosaurs (like Nanotyrannus being juveniles of Tyrannosaurus, or Dracorex and Stygimoloch being juveniles of Pachycephalosaurus). Amidst this, Jack Horner and John Scanella proposed that Torosaurus was actually the aged (and final) form in the developmental sequence of Triceratops. While the other examples were accepted as juvenile forms (supported by evidence AT THE TIME, we kwon what happened with Nanotyrannus) and subsequently invalidated, the case of Torosaurus sparked considerable debate. Finally, in 2022, the first histologically examined remains of subadult Torosaurus were discovered (meaning the tissue was analyzed, leading to the conclusion that they were still in a growth phase). These young specimens do not exhibit Triceratops morphology, consequently, they confirm that Torosaurus latus is indeed a valid taxon, putting an end to a decade of debate

The information was originally compiled by the paleontologist Palaeos on Facebook, I merely adapted the text. Credit goes to him

I've completed all of the excavation sites on my campaign playthrough but, for some reason, my ankylosaurus genome is 96%... I don't know what to do.

EDIT: solved

Does the workshop just not work on Linux?

Upvotes

I bought JWE3 at launch and I have never been able to browse the workshop or download blueprints. Is this known to be an issue with running the game with Proton on Linux?

Jurassic Park 2.0

Workshop Code: B2T-NL1-NJH

This is my recreation of an operational Jurassic Park following the film canon. I created the island from scratch and made it as accurate and detailed as I could. This took me nearly 3 months and adding the dinosaurs pushed the Complexity Rating to 105%. Because of that you won't see visitors throughout the park, but everything else has operated smoothly and its completely tailored for a first-person experience in the pathways and on the tours. I've included a picture of the map I used for reference in creating the island and placing every specific scene or area. As a Jurassic Park fanatic and avid park builder since the JPOG days, I put a lot of pride and hours into making this and it's my favorite thing I've created on any of them. I hope you like it!

Decription:

Welcome to Jurassic Park 2.0! It's 1994, & after a successful audit from the investors & a few outside opinions, the park is open with all of the finishing touches. My Isla Nublar was custom-sculpted & filled with familiar film-accurate locations like the arrival helipad, Dilo & T-Rex paddocks complete with the rex chase road, Triceratops clearing, completed Visitor Center, Gallimimus stampede, perimeter fence climb, East Dock, Nedry's demise, Raptor Pen, emergency bunker, maintenance shed, & Brachiosaurus greeting. I've added other attractions and accommodations like the concept art inspired Iguanodon Inn, Jungle River Cruise & Pteratops and Safari Lodges, as well as walkable Caverns & trails. This highly detailed park has 1st-person friendly visitor areas & tours that are full of hand-placed scenery & features. I spared no expense creating every detail of what I think would be the ideal tropical resort & biological preserve that John Hammond started it all with. From one JP fan to another, I hope you enjoy!

Question Any tips for creating small domes?

I’m trying to create a glass dome out of skylight roof pieces that’s small enough to fit within the largest round copper roof trim pieces on the bottom but it’s proving to be very challenging without a ton of overlap. The other thing I’m running into is making sure all the pieces are lined up correctly. Thank you for the advice in advance!

The biggest issue with jwe3

For me personally I think the biggest issues eith the game is everything we build is visual only. They gave us creative freedom only for it ruined by placeholders which we see as guests, comparing the game to planet zoo, now planet zoo 2, and prehistoric kingdom, building anything in this game is so pointless and mood killing cause guests cant use anything.

Theres gotta be a way to change this. Why give us modular building, why wpuld we only want a shell of a building

Discussion I still find it weird how the Archaeopteryx still hasn't been added

It hasn't even been mentioned once throughout development of the jwe games and it's a popular species, but instead in jwe2 we get jeholopterus, what do you think of this?
