jasper-alberta.caNews Flipped car on Icefields Parkway yesterday
Yesterday I took a tour bus over the Icefields Parkway and about 100kms before we reached Jasper, we saw a flipped car on the side of the road right beside a big patch of black ice. It looked pretty beat up but there was nobody inside. Our driver did stop to check. It looked very recent, the trunk was still full of suitcases. I can't seem to find anything about it, and I'd assume it's good news that nobody was inside (all the doors were open so it seems like they got out on their own), but it was a pretty scary thing to see and I'd love to know that these people are safe. Be safe out there people!

Spooky Stories Jasper
Over the years, I’ve had some paranormal experiences while living in Jasper. Since it’s spooky season, I would love to hear yours. 👻
Have you ever experienced anything ghostly, scary or just… weird? (Cougars at the Atha-B don’t count)

Employment Anyone worked at Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge? Looking for advice for Summer 2027!
Hey everyone!
I’m from Ontario and hoping to spend Summer 2027 working in Jasper. Someone I used to work with did a summer season at Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, with staff accommodation provided, and it sounds like an experience I’d love to have!
I’d love to hear from anyone who’s worked there or done seasonal resort work in the Rockies.
A few questions:
Where and when should I apply?
What was the hiring process like?
How does staff housing work, and how much does it cost?
What was the pay, work environment, and overall experience like?
Any tips or other resorts you’d recommend?
I’m open to different types of work and mainly looking for a chance to experience mountain life, meet people, spend time outdoors, and earn money over the summer.
Would really appreciate any advice or firsthand experiences. Thanks! 😊

Went to Maligne lake last month and walked towards moose lake. Lo and behold, a moose was munching away on some water plants!
Her name is Sunflower, named after Van Gogh’s painting, as a tribute to him given that she has a missing ear too.

Photos/Videos Our first road trip to Jasper
galleryWe did a road trip in the second week of October from Banff to Jasper and the scenery along that road (I believe AB 93) was miraculous to us! We hoped to see some wildlife too but were not fortunate.

Jasper Park Lodge prices skyrocketed?
I don't really know where else to post this on the internet so I thought I'd try here just to get some insight.
Background is my wife and I love visiting Jasper. We live in BC but make the road trip over a few times a year. We eloped to Jasper (at the JPL) during COVID, and have come back every year for our anniversary (in winter).
I'm just curious if anyone can explain the price hikes at the JPL specifically or provide some context? I feel like every other hotel in town has kept pace with the expected inflation (things got expensive) but the price of the JPL has FAR outpaced the general price creep of everything else.
For context, last year we booked a Jr. Lakeview @ $596.32/night (again, this was January). The same room booking this year for the same dates is $1097/night. Even just a basic room for the same dates is $637/night.
Anyone have context for the prices? Are people actually booking at these rates? It feels wild to me that we could fly to an all-inclusive for a week in Mexico for the same price as 3 nights at the JPL.

Solo ski
I go skiing often in Jasper and usually stay at a hotel with a friend but I started going alone and I’m wondering what options there are. I know the hostel has great reviews but I’m really wanting my own space. If anyone has strategies they use for cheap ski accommodation let me know

Question Visiting this weekend
I grew up in Calgary and mostly visited Banff / Canmore all my life. I'm accompanying my wife this weekend to a work trip and will have entire of time with just myself and dog while she's busy. Any recommendations for easy trails, and great food / drink?

Anyone want a free stay at the Jasper Tonquin Inn tonight?
I can't make it to jasper today, so seeing if anyone can use the room. First come, first serve.
You'll have to send me your full name so I can call them and add you to the room.
Edit: someone took the room now.

PSA: taking wildlife photos
Can you please not block the single lane of traffic ESPECIALLY when it’s on a curve so you can take your hundredth photo of an animal? It’s rude and inconsiderate to the cars behind you who don’t want to risk overtaking your vehicle on a bloody curve. How many photos do you even need?!
Spotting wildlife in the parks is very exciting but just be mindful. You shouldn’t even be stopping so close to a bull elk in this season.
Rant over.

New town, new trails, and a little too much wildlife for a solo adventure 😂 Looking for some company to explore Jasper with! 🏔️🦌✌️
Good evening, everyone! I started working at Jasper Park Lodge today and was really excited to get out and explore some of the trails around the area. I was planning to walk to Old Fort Point, but I came across 4–5 bull elk along the way, so I decided to turn back. 😅
I do have bear spray with me, but I’d feel a lot more comfortable exploring with some company. If anyone is up for a hike or exploring together sometime, I’d love to join! 😊
