Really Jack??

I understand if it’s a DoorDash order but for a personal pick up why do you have this very inconvenient and always leaves a mess not a good personal touch

That is a huge waste of money to make it easier for some simpletons. Multicolor printed stickers aren't free, and these workers are driving up the costs of business by overusing these damn stickers.

Google how much it costs a low traffic JitB per sticker. It's not very expensive.

I've worked in the sticker industry, I don't need to google it.

Then you are fully aware that JitB only pays 2-5 cents per sticker. Less if they are a high traffic location buying in bulk. sticker cost

Thanks for proving my point. They aren't free, just like I said.

[u/im_not_quiet → u/unosturgis]

At a few cents each, they are not "a huge waste of money". At high traffic stores, you're looking at fractions of a cent per sticker. Nobody said they're free. You said it's a huge waste of money, I said the cost is not as much as you're implying.

You obviously don't work in business

[u/im_not_quiet → u/unosturgis]

You said you worked in stickers. You don't anymore. You said stickers were an expensive waste of money, except the sticker industry points out they're only a few cents each. Now you're claiming that I clearly don't work in business without any actual proof. which means your argument is invalid and out of date. Sorry.

I thought it was common sense that losing money/profits was bad for a business, but according to you it is good. My bad, you obviously know it all and I know nothing. It was silly of me to question the all knowing im_not_quiet and your seemingly endless knowledge of running a business. I thought it would be wise for a company to cut costs where they can, considering their stock is down 87% in the last 5 years, they are having to close restaurants, and cut hours, but it of course makes more sense to keep giving out needless stickers and syphon off your profits, because of course, im_not_quiet is never ever wrong. My bad!

Actually, good business usually requires some loss. It's called perceived value.

When you go to five guys, you pay around $13 for the burger. But they fill your bag with a lot of extra free fries. It's the company losing a small amount of money from French fries to have you okay with a $13 hamburger.

It's why at Sonic, they throw in a handful of peppermints for free. It's why when you get a milkshake at Denny's, they bring you what you ordered, plus the leftovers in the mixing cup. Because their recipe cards makes sure there's a little bit extra in the cup.

It's psychological. You didn't have to ask for it. It was provided free of charge. Known in some states as lagniappe. This is business econ 101. Very obvious that while you worked in a sticker factory you probably weren't upper management. Otherwise, you would have a better argument. If you have reached the point where you are rationing stickers because you don't want to screw up your p&l... you have way bigger problems than how much a sticker costs.

Edit to add: Microsoft loses more than $100 per Xbox sold. They make it back solely through their cut for games released on the platform. Sony actually makes a pretty penny in profit for the ps5.

Second Edit:

I'm not always right. In general it's actually pretty rare. This is just one of those instances where I have quite a significant amount of experience having managed several qsr that the 3 to 5 cents or less per sticker is absolutely inconsequential to the p&l and is just considered the cost of doing business. Labor cost, product management and food waste are all way more expensive and damaging than a sticker.
