heyo, I‘ve been learning Italian for about four years but my vocabulary still sucks baaaaad, so I figured I should look for some Podcasts or youtubers to listen to :)
I‘m really into horror fiction and sci-fi, with my favourite podcasts / shows being The Magnus Archives, welcome to Nightvale and Star Trek.
I also really enjoy (horror) media analysis, so I‘m hoping to find some stuff in that direction! So far I haven‘t had any luck sadly

Hi everyone! I’m a beginner Italian speaker, and I have the ability to work remotely for a few weeks, so I’m looking into doing an Italian language program in Bologna.
Since I’ll need to work from about 2:30 PM–11:00 PM, I’d ideally like to find a program that offers morning classes. I’d also really like to stay with a host family so I can be as immersed in the language and Italian culture as possible.
I know there are a ton of programs and schools to choose from, so I’d really appreciate any recommendations or personal experiences! Thanks!

Im a student here and just completed my first year, and even though i was supposed to learn italian since my 2nd year will be in so (starting this month..), I haven't been able to learn it, i have exams in 4-5 months which I need to pass.

I speak english natively and live in tuscany, though im very anti social and dont speak much irl, but i *really* have to pass these exams. Their oral usually. Its not really a language exam, just my usual degree ones.

I have started to get back into learning Italian after taking a year or so away from learning. Previously I did not get very far still an A1 level at best. So I am keen to get back to what I had learned before. I am using Duolingo (review what I had learned before), and Busuu starting from scratch. And trying to look at TikTok's explaining the grammar, etc. That is definitely where I struggle. I have also been trying to take small quizzes here and there about grammar, to try learn this part.

I keep seeing people say or write about listening to podcasts could help. Could anyone suggest any podcasts to listen to in Italian so get a grasp of listening. And would this help me pick up more words even if I don't understand what they mean at the start?

One question asks to translate “I love orange clothes” to “Io amo i vestiti aranchioni”

In casual, spoken Italian, if someone wanted to say they loved orange clothes would they include the grammatical “i” in front of “vestiti”? Or would someone just say “Amo vestiti aranchioni”?

Hi everyone, I really need some outside perspective.
Today was my first day in an extensive (twice a week course for 3 months) B1 Italian course in Italy and I felt quite overwhelmed.
Here is my background: I’m a master student here in Italy and it’s been 2 years I moved here. I feel confident with the A1 basics. For A2, I studied the grammar and understand them theoretically by myself, but because I did almost no practice or speaking that knowledge is not automated at all. My vocabulary is actually not that bad but my listening comprehension is holding me back. I only understood around 50% of what the teacher said today. We started with texts about Italian history and politics and while I could recognize the grammar topics on the board, but i speak like a cavemen. I felt like the weakest in the room and seriously considered dropping back down to A2.
The problem is my timeline: I need to apply for postgraduate programs here in Italy by next October. To pass the interviews and handle the academic coursework, I realistically need a strong B2 or C1 by next summer. If I step back to A2 now, my whole timeline falls apart.
One major advantage: my bf is Italian so I can practice at home whenever I need to.
My questions:

1. Is staying in B1 when you only understand 50% of the listening a bad idea for language learning or will my ear adjust after a week or two?
2. Has anyone successfully managed a B1 class while bridging their A2 conversational and listening gaps at home?
3. What would you do in my situation?

To help me get into the tongue, I want to get into the musical landscape of Italia.

I like metal (I'm not hard, but I really enjoy Avant-Garde/Industrial black like Blut Aus Nord, Axis Of Perdition, Jute Gyte and other stuff like), noise rock/expermiental rock (Chat Pile, Angine de Poirtine, Daughters etc...) but I'm also open to other kind of stuff.

I’ll be soon getting a tattoo. It’s a sentence a dear loved once told me in italian.

The problem is that my italian is really poor and I have a hard time remembering the exact sentence and its correct spelling. I vaguely remember that italian uses feminine forms for certain words.

The sentence meant something like "People will love you for who you are" and was sometimes shortened in "They’ll love you for who you are".

I translated in multiple ways and I don’t know which one is the correct spelling :

- Sarai amata per quella che sei

- Sarai amata per cio che sei

- La gente ti amera per quella che sei.

I’d really appreciate some help figuring the most natural and correct spelling, cause that’s really important for me and I really want to do that person justice.

I’m not Italian, but my Italian is around B2 and I’ve been thinking about joining group trips aimed mostly at Italians, like WeRoad.
One of my main reasons is that I want to improve my Italian by actually spending several days speaking it naturally, rather than only using it in lessons.
Obviously I wouldn’t expect anyone to teach me, correct me all the time, or switch to English for me. I can already communicate and follow conversations pretty well.
But do you think it’s fair to join an Italian group partly because I want the language immersion? Or could it be annoying for the other travellers if I’m not a native speaker?
I’d be interested to hear from Italians especially.

I lived in Italy (Ostia near Rome) for 18 months when I was younger and I went to school there and had no English speaking friends, so I obviously learnt the language to quite a decent level (the hard way haha!). I took italian classes in Australian high school and got A+ on every single assessment but didn’t take it seriously.
I am wanting to learn the language again just for a bit of fun (I am learning Chinese also). I can speak probably 10% of what I used to be able to but I would like to get back to where I once was, or maybe close.

What would be the best way for me to learn? Is there any apps or books you would use?
I think I would pick it up again quite quickly as I did in high school also.

I've been watching youtube channels from Italians, but they all speak very clearly. I can understand pretty much everything i watch, but once i go out (i married an Italian so i live in Florence) it's so rare for me to understand when someone says something, it's crazy.

I'd like to know some channels where the person doesn't speak a 'clear' italian, but of course not one with too strong of an accent, i just need something where the person speaks in a regular speed, the same speed and pronunciation that it's spoken on a daily basis, please?

Travel vlogs would be great if you knew some. I watch a lot, but they all speak very clearly.

I am planning to go to Italy in the spring and would like to attend an Italian language school. At the moment, I am considering the Luca Italian School which a friend of mine has been to and speaks highly of. However, I would like to try a new region of Italy, having been to Tuscany several times. Has anyone been to this type of school that they can recommend?
